Whenever we're in Tagaytay and the whole family is complete, it's a must that we eat here. Josephine a family favorite and no matter how I try to tell them that there are other restaurants we can try for a change, I will never win! 128517128518 But can't really blame them because we've been eating here since forever. And we always enjoy dining here.

It's my mom's birthday and we visited my lola in Tagaytay and where else to celebrate but here! So we brought them here for lunch. For a weekday slash Friday slash lunch time, the place was surprisingly packed with families. Not full house but a couple of tables were occupied. Only goes to show how despite having a number of other good restaurants are already, Josephine's remains to be one of the classic/no fail restaurant here in Tagaytay. 128077๐Ÿผ

Since they love all things sinful and Filipino, we ordered the following: Kare-Kare (All Oxtail), Crispy Pata (2 orders please, because YOLO! 128563128518), Crispy Tawilis, Sari-saring Sinugba, Pancit Canton (for Long Life), and of course, Rice!! And oh, we also ordered fresh watermelon shake for lola. She loved and finished it. Very refreshing and not too sweet. 127817127847

Service was a bit slow but no worries since our orders were all served hot. 128513

CRISPY TAWILIS. This was really really good! We loved and enjoyed eating this one. Super crispy and best enjoyed with vinegar. Sarap papakin and well of course, ikain sa rice! 128076๐Ÿผ

KARE-KARE. This was good, generous serving of veggies and they enjoyed the oxtail. 128563128563128563 But I still prefer my aunt and mom's kare-kare. I prefer the more nutty and thicker sauce. And with lean meat! 128518128513

CRISPY PATA. Based from their faces, they all enjoyed eating this one. Can't believe they asked for 2 orders!!!! 128563128563128563128563

SARI-SARING SINUGBA. An assortment of different grilled meat and seafood - Chicken, Liempo, Pusit, and Tuna. Served with atchara, pipino and tomato on the side. This was just okay. Kind of expected more (in terms of the taste and quantity) since this was a bit pricey (around 750?). You can just skip this one and order something else.

For dessert we ordered the following - Buko Pandan, Fresh fruit salad, and Blueberry Cheesecake.

BUKO PANDAN. This was good. At first, we all thought that this was too small but it was a lot. My lola loved this one. 128513

FRESH FRUIT SALAD. Fresh watermelon, mango, banana and pineapple served inside a buko shell. The presentation was nice but there wasn't really anything special. But infairness, the fruits were all sweet. 128077๐Ÿผ

BLUEBERRY CHEESECAKE. Just okay. My two uncle loves the cheesecake from Bag of Beans and although this one looks like the one from Bag of Beans, it doesn't taste the same. They said that it tastes like frozen all purpose cream topped with blueberry jam. 128517

Service was good. Servers were all very attentive. Overall, it was a nice and filling lunch. Too bad the dirty ice cream slash sorbetes ice cream's only available on weekends. As well as the bibingka and puto bumbong! 128530128557

PS: Other must tries are the paella and the mutya ng cavite! So good! 128077๐Ÿผ

Late post. Breakfast with a view of Taal Lake/Volcano!!
We usually go to the old Bag of Beans for beakfast but my friend suggested we try their buffet for P375+.
Well if ypu're with a balikbayan friend then this is the better choice actually because of the view and it's air conditioned.
Food selection was just good but I thin Bah of Beans has more to offer. Their pork tapa was very good though. I also liked their churros128077

Comfort food is everything to an adult. It's nostalgia. Each scent from a dish brings back fond memories, and each bite yearns us to be back in those days past. That is how I feel when eating Filipino food. Being raised in the U.S. almost my entire life, eating dishes local to the Philippines was rare, though both my parents are of Filipino descent. So come times that Ma'Dukes would cook Filipino dishes, no matter how simple, or intricate the dishes were, it was always comfort to the soul.

When I visited Tagaytay, I had one of the most nostalgic meals I had in a long while, when I visited Josephine Restaurant.

Josephine is one of many restaurants in Tagaytay. It was difficult for us to choose a place because of it, but with its large neon signage, advertising the place, we were like mosquitos being drawn in by the light. 128540

The aesthetics of the restaurant was beautiful. The inside was as grand as the outside where it overlooked the ocean. And of course, being a tourist, we opted to sit where there was a view.

That evening, we ordered bulalo, pakbet, grilled tuna belly, and kare-kare. Since all of you have tried these dishes, whether from home, or other etablishments, I don't believe I have to explain how these dishes taste. All I can say that they were all delicious! Meats were all tender, well seasoned, veggies were still crisp, [almost] as if Ma'Dukes would have made it--but nothing comes close to Mother's cooking.

I, and my tummy had a grand 'ol feast at this restaurant. My memory of this place is another great addition to other great memories from days past when having tradition Filipino food.

Happy Eating!!!

Josephine's is always our go-to restaurant whenever my family is in Tagaytay. We love the ambience, and we love the food. The wait is always long but we decided it's always worth it.

So our visit here on April 3 was definitely disappointing. We ordered Tenderlion Steak, Crab Omelette, puto bungbong, and bibingka. The Tenderloin Steak took sooo long to be served and when it was served, it tasted like fish. A TENDERLOIN STEAK TASTES LIKE FISH! Ugh.

When we pointed it out to one of the waiters, he was like "so ano pong gusto niyong mangyari?" And in my head, I was like "Uhm... I don't know. What's your protocol when a freaking steak tastes like pritong isda???" But anyway, we just asked if we can have it replaced. And he said, "Gusto niyo pong papalitan? So maghihintay pa kayo ulit? Medyo matagal po" in this tone that's definitely trying to say that we should just eat the fishy steak. RUDE WAITER!

So a new steak was served after 300 hundred years. And it was well done. I hate people who cook steak well done. But whatever. It was past 3 already and we were hungry.

The crab omelette was fine and so was the puto bungbong. The bibingka never came so we just had it cancelled.

Ugh. Bad experience, Josephine's! And we've been loyal to you!

When I go on a diet, my salad be like.... ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Yes, that is chicharon bulaklak on my garden salad hahaha

Well. I guess this is exactly what a balanced meal should look like? 128514. Anyway, it was a bit odd at first when you eat the chicharon with the veggies but it can be easily get used to since they didn't bathe the salad with too much dressing. I can't imagine it going well with the chicharon and might get if soggy.

We had crispy kare-kare too and had to request more sauce since it barely had some. There was nothing special about this actually. The kare had no peanut taste and was very pale. The crispy pata was good though, might have been better ordered alone. We had some chicken and inihaw na pusit plus luntian medley. All very mediocre. Had a good time with the family and enjoyed the view anyway.

Btw, forgot the hat I was wearing here and we called them up to ask if they have it and too bad, they said they didn't
have it and no one has surrendered it. There were only two tables around us and we've only been gone around 10mins. So that really sucked big time 128548๐Ÿ™„128548

Better service. More food. Yes, you close at 2:30pm but it doesn't mean you stop replenishments at 1:45 pm. And train your service staff to be more couteous to guests, not just say "Sorry, pasara na kasi kami." You're not worth Php450.00.

The crowd ranges from friends who are touring Tagaytay, lovers celebrating special occasions, to families having reunions. Expect that the ambience will not be quiet, instead, expect boisterous laughs, kids running around, and endless utensils clacking on plates.

Although the food choices is not as much as Viking's, the food variety was still okay. The salad bar and dessert bar sold me. Do try their desserts because none disappointed my sweet tooth. :)

The Sinampalukang Manok was tasty and perfect with the breezy weather. Kare Kare was average and so was the rest of our orders such as the paella, fried chicken, etc. Can't say anything negative about the ambiance and service. If only the food were impressive and concise rather than have a few yummy dishes. Still, one of the best places in Tagaytay.

One of the first restaurants in Tagaytay that serves Pinoy food at its finest. My choice of order was the "putok batok" meal, their Crispy Kare-kare. Also, we tried their Mutya ng Cavite, their version of Seafood Chowder, composed of mussels, shrimps and squid. Of course, who would ignore Tinadtad na Mangga, Kamatis, Sibuyas at Bagoong. True enough, food was good but a little expensive. But when you get to dine with your family with a view like this, I think that's priceless!

Food is great, but if you do not look like a aristocrat then you will get the least possible service. But it is still good.

We just had our pre new year dinner here and we loved it. I really liked their josephine soup, tuna sisig and seafood rice... They satisfied my mom's craving for lumpiang sariwa 128522 i just didn't like much their kare-kare (maybe i was just used to love my mom's version). And it wasn't that pricey. Nice and cozy ambiance. Thumbs up. Will be an addition to my fave resto in tagaytay aside from balinsasayaw 128522

Catching up on my reviews. :)

Went to Tagaytay to bring a family relative who was in town for the weekend. Where else should we take her out for lunch in Tagaytay, nowhere else, but at Josephines.

Pinoy food at it's finest but the most special is their Bulalo. The broth is really full of taste, you could almost taste all the ingredients that they put into it.

The place is quite huge as well. There are lots of tables but still, if you come late after lunch, you'll need to wait before you could get a table. There is also an outdoor area which overlooks Taal Lake.

The only thing I don't like here is how expensive they price their food. It's pretty expensive for the amount of serving for each dish.
