Long overdue review of this place since I don’t want the secret out yet. Then again, since I only have a handful of people reading my posts, what the hec. 128521

If you love Kikufuji but a) can’t get a table b) hate the long wait c) think it’s gone mainstream d) don’t like crowds

...then you’ll love this place.

Fresh, fine quality fish presented nicely at a fairly reasonable price. Without the hordes of hungry diners and frantic wait staff.

Not in the photos: their grilled fish (salmon if I can recall) which we easily devoured.

樹海 12852210084128077🏻 sorry, it's not your pop-rock Japan Duo hehehe128518128518128518

Pocket Friendly. Authentic. Delicious! Music to your ears right? Before pitching in to our meeting, Ateng took me to this Japanese foodie joint very near her place, it's not a frilly place with instagram worthy stuff but I have to say it's truly tummy worthy!

It's actually beside a japanese grocery and from the outside you could see japanese and chinese expats filling up the place, so it might be a sign that it's really good!

So for our light Japadinnah, we got the Spicy Tuna quite similar yet equally good ( or maybe better ) like the one in Nihonbashitei, ohmy superyummmm!

Then there's the Agedashi Tofu, mild tasting and tender.. basking in sweet soy sauce

Ohhh and the all time Gyoza, also well-cooked and for me, it didn't left me with that usual gyoza aftertaste 12852210084128077🏻

There was quite a limited option for meat selections aside from the famous Buta of course, so the waitress suggested the Fried Beef Sukiyaki-cut meat with side vegee salad, not on the menu, but is also one of their most requested items 12852210084128077🏻

Ohh what a japanice meal, worth the buck indeed! Super duper happy tummy hehehe 128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻 Oishi Desu 100841008410084

A Japanese hole-in-the-wall near the Little Tokyo area. Its a bit hidden and out of the way if you're heading to Little Tokyo, and it doesnt operates on a lit of fanfare. But hey, the food here is decent and the patrons are mostly Japanese too.

I couldn't identify a specialty or best-seller so i observed what the others were ordering to get a feel of whats good. One waitress actually told me its their ramen, but during my 4 visits i havent seen a single customer order the ramen so i guess i made a good decision in skipping that haha.

I'd really suggest ordering their gyudon - saw this ordered by Japanese patrons on more than 1 occasion, as well as their tonkatsu teishoku set. The pork cutlet was seasoned really well didnt have that layer of fat, which is a plus in my book! But my personal favorites were the seafood salad and this fresh spring roll that had kani, mango, and glass noodles inside. Both were served with kewpie sesame dressing, a favorite of mine.

If you want steady Japanese food without anything specific in mind, and some place hidden from the typical spots... Jyukai is it!

Found this hole in the wall japanese restaurant just near Pasong Tamo Shell gasoline station and thought of trying it out. I've seen this store a couple of times and it is always full specially in the evening so might as well give it shot.

Tried this shrimp fri soba and as you can see in the pic, presentation is already a +. As for the taste, tempura is crunchy and fresh and not just crumbs but really with tasty prawn in it. The dip for my soba is not that strong so I asked for some more wasabi and garlic to give it little kick. Priced 240

Also tried their Uni which is a little sweeter than others but still tasted really good but the serving is too small but proportion to the price at 180

Their spicy tuna sashimi is not for my taste since it has red sauce in it which over powered the taste but my friends did enjoy it. Kikufuji's is still the best one for me. 128513

Will definitely be back here to try their ramens and katsus. 128523128523128523
