Let's try something not so gourmet. Everybody's favorite Filipino summer dessert - halo-halo! Well, I'm not really much of a fan of halo-halo but after watching a TV feature on this, I suddenly craved for it. Good thing this is just a few minutes away from my house.

Kabigting's halo-halo is made of just 3 components - cream corn, halayang monggo (sweetened puréed red mung beans), and pastillas (thickened sweet milk). All these are topped with really fine shaved ice and milk. Mix them all together (thus, halo-halo) and you will get a sweet symphony of flavors - sweetness from the mung beans, creaminess from the pastillas and a hint of saltiness from the corn.

Earlier this day, I asked my friend if he has ever tried Kabigting's Halo-Halo. You see, he's from Pampanga, where the said halo-halo place came from. He said yes and rated it as the best halo-halo he has ever tasted in his life. Next thing I knew, I was browsing the net for the best halo-halo and landed on the listicle of Spot.ph. And do you which halo-halo emerged on the top spot? You got that right, it's Kabigting's. My friend was in an unusually good mood that he suggested we go to Kabigting's in Quezon City.

To cut the story short, I now know why it's everyone's favorite halo-halo. It only has 5 ingredients: ice, carabao's milk, corn, crushed sweet beans, and pastillas. It's obviously not your regular halo-halo but it works! I loved it so much I finished my glass in no time. I didn't even care that it doesn't have my most favorite ingredient, leche flan because the pastillas made it exciting and quite delicious. It was also quite creamy that I finished it to the last drop.

I felt full afterwards so I suggest you go there with an empty stomach so you can also try their other food. Their lumpiang sariwa by the way is also good.

Kabigting's halo-halo is only 100 pesos. We're from Makati by the way, so imagine how far we went just for this halo-halo. But it was a journey well worth the effort.

Had the Halo halo to go. I was expecting that it would be better than Razon's.

I remember it was a Saturday nght and my brother and I have been craving for halo halo. We tried calling Chowking but they told us it was not available. *cue in Where Do Broken Hearts Go*

So I promised him that we will go have one the next day. We both don't like Razon's, so it was a no-brainer that Kabigting's is the best place to satisfy our cravings!

I know a lot of people love Razon's but we find it too sweet. My mom loves it though.

I also had their palabok which was actually good for 2 people if you're still planning to get a halo-halo after. It was good, not the best, but really tasty. I prefer the bigger palabok noodles, like the ones in pancit malabon.

What I like about their halo-halo is the ingredients. It has pastillas, corn, and the white beans that you see in your typical halo-halo. It is not overly sweet, which is always a good thing. No umay factor!

My friend brought me to this place because he was raving about the pastillas halo halo. Before i was able to try it I ordered tokwa't baboy and grilled liempo first for lunch. The food was not exciting at all. It was bland and the consistency of the rice was paste like already. For dessert we had halo halo which was also nothing special. Just plain and ordinary. Would I recommend you to got there? Nah... I don't think so.

i've been seeing this restaurant for quite some time so today I decided to try their halo halo.
i liked it! Using pastillas as one of its ingredients made it unique but here's why Razon's remains no . 1 on my list/
1. Finely shaved ice
2. I love saba, macapuno and leche flan on my halo halo.
3. The syrup from the macapuno and saba made it enjoyable even after you've consumed the ingredients.
Dito sa Kabigting nung naubos na ingeedients di na malasa but it was still ok.
I will try their liempo on my next visit.

Very good and affordable Kapampangan food! 128522 Had the Liempo and Halo-halo combo and they were both great! My friend ordered the Boneless Bangus which was very generous in serving! Also shared a plate of Palabok with my friends and it was great! 128516

But I loved their Halo-halo the most! Pastillas!!!!! 128525128525128525 Spot.ph did not disappoint! #1 Halo-halo in the Metro (2014 Edition) 128516

Their only Metro branch until now is in Banawe QC near Cake2Go and the Aristocrat.
Their Halo Halo is made up of pastillas, beans and corn only with carabao's milk and was too creamy good served in oh well a plastic cup. The palabok was swamped with so much crisp chicharon and it was like nakakaumay na sa dami ng chicharon, the palabok sauce I didn't enjoy that much. Eating here is a quick respite if you had too much of Razon's but in the battle for Pampangas halo halo kings, I bet my buck for Razon's.

OMG ang haba na ng tinype ko tapos nawala lahat!!128557

So I'll start all over again and keep it short nalang 128530

New favorite halo-halo! I love how the pastillas, corn, and beans worked well together. Wish there was more corn though! I like that it wasn't too diabetes-in-a-cup. 128077 mixed reviews from the family though, my aunt and i loved it, but my mom still prefers Razon's. I only found out that night that she doesn't like pastillas pala. 128517

I wish they cut the pastillas into chunks though, because i had a hard time mixing everything.

We went here about half an hour before they closed and a lot of people were still coming in. So that's a good sign right? 9786

It's also cheaper than Razon's at only 90 pesos per cup! 9786

-1 for using plastic cups even for dine in, and for the ambiance.

Looloo crew, they already moved to Banawe Ave. cor. Calamba (beside Cake 2 Go). 9786

Close to Razon's halo-halo! Though I still don't get how the pastillas make an impact cos the pastillas were really sweet. Also, I don't think this should be the number 1 halo-halo cos the blending of pastillas werent really good and.... Razon's pa din talaga 128513

Halo-Halo Php90.00
I like halo-halos with simple, basic ingredients just like what they have tho I prefer Razon's because the pastillas made it too sweet for me.

Silvanas Php250.00 (box of 10)
I love tho that they have the silvanas from dumaguete 127881

Id like to try their food, specially their palabok next!
