Very cold a/c in arrivals area, very cold people too. 128569 Hope service gets better. Arrival experience is a tad messy because of all the drivers screaming for possible passengers. I just ended up flying in through here because of a canceled flight, but I'd take Caticlan any day because it's way better there.

Our flight was cancelled in Caticlan Airport so we were reverted to Kalibo Airport. Around one and a half hours ride by van or bus. The airport was not that big and their sound system sucks! I have to stop from what I am doing and concentrate carefully just to hear the announcement they are making. I think the government should do something about the airport. They must improve facilities and place free wifi (like in Caticlan) because they are charging Php 200 terminal fee. I think they are making enough money/ income because most of the tourists going to Boracay are taking flights to Kalibo Airport.

A downsize international airport with yucky comfort room yet, asking a terminal fee of Php200 for every passengers.
Kalorkie!
What for are our terminal fee?
You don't even have wifi connection and digital boarding board to catch attention of passenger.
We need to see often in your cardboard signage what plane are about to be board.
Your cr is too dirty and the second floor cr is under maintenance for how long?
You have strict policy in your airport terminal, that's fine and good actually but it is humane that you will charged us to pay our excess hand carry baggage of 1 kilo at Php800 for the 2 persons combined hand carry supposedly only 7 kilos each that reached 15 kilos all in all.
We've been in NAiA terminal 4 of the same baggage we carry and when we are in Cebu, our baggage reached of 15 kilos yet they don't charge us for our excess hand carry baggage.
Where is justice?
We felt like we have been snatched of Php1,200 in Kalibo.
In NAIA and Cebu, they don't charge each passengers of Php200 terminal fee in domestic flights and we are lucky enough to have free starbucks coffee as complimentary due to delayed flights in Cebu.
Now, who is worser airport?
You!
Kalibo!

It was last Thursday night when I experienced how it was to have a flight delayed for more than 6 hours. For the first time ever, this was the longest experience that actually made me so sad about our transport system.

We arrived at Kalibo International Airport at around 6:20 PM, right in time when our check-in counter was about to close. We ran towards the entrance, passed through the first scanning machine and went to fall in line at the Air Asia counter.

When we got there, there was chaos as a lot of people had cancelled, delayed flights because unfortunately, there was this incident of a Sea Air plane blocking the runway because one of its tires crashed and another thing was a fire truck got stuck in one of the canals, thus, stopping all operations in the airport. Oh no!

We fell in line and waited for our turn to talk to an Air Asia agent. We were told to wait for announcements with regards our 7:20 PM flight being pushed to another time, hoping that it wouldn't be cancelled. We checked in our baggages and to make it bearable, decided to go out and eat dinner and waste time there.

Good thing there were a few restaurants right across the airport where you could choose to eat at. There were also coffee shops with WiFi connection where you can hang out. A lot of stores where you can buy pasalubongs were there too.

We got time to waste but when we heard that most flights were getting cancelled, we decided to go inside and fix the issue for ourselves. We were told to wait and we did that. What else can we do?

We paid 200 pesos for our terminal fee, went inside and found no available seats for us. Oh, life. To make the people a bit calm because of the chaos, the airport gave free Jollibee meals per person, for all those who got their flights cancelled or delayed.

We waited and waited and there I realized how this local, provincial airport needs lots of improvement. From its size, to the presence of chairs that can accommodate guests to stores and comfort rooms inside, this international airport must start moving a notch higher in giving its guests a better service that they deserve.

After 6 hours of waiting, we got in our plane and finally, the fire truck and Sea Air plane were already removed from the runway.

More than providing better service, I think we should be more proactive and responsible in providing change for the better.

-Announcements can't be heard clearly on some parts of the 2nd floor
-Toilets were clean but can still be improved. Wet toilet papers. Ugh!
-Some parts of the stairs can be dangerous to kids - it only has the yellow CAUTION tape in between the gaps (See photo)

Also, why is there a terminal fee of 200?!

200 peso terminal fee for ONE bathroom. See that pile of seats by the corner? That's the other bathroom upstairs.

What's the point of charging a terminal fee if you can't even utilize the terminal? Limited sockets as well.

There's only food stalls inside which carry chips and cup noodles. They should consider adding more options because it's such a hassle to go all the way out for decent food.

Adios! 128111

Another delayed 5hrs delayed flight. Lucky Kalibo Airport is now much better with the spacious 2nd floor. Can't help but pity the airline ground crew that is trying to calm the irate passengers. Well I just try not to add up to the stress. Anyway great improvement for this terminal but it should be better because its an international airport. :)

The Kalibo airport is small to be an international airport..I dont know why they charge 200 pesos for terminal fees when they dont have much seats to accommodate travellers waiting for their flights.

This is the new wing of Kalibo International Airport. It was just recently renovated and opened to be more presentable to the local and foreign tourists making their way to Boracay.

It now looks clean and have enough airconditionig to keep the whole terminal cool while passengers are waiting for their delayed flights. 128586

The best thing I like about this terminal is that they have LOTS of sockets where you can plug in ang charge your beloved gadgets. Just make sure you don't leave it unattended. 128556

Only downside, there are no food concessionaires yet. Meaning you will get really hungry if your flight is delayed. I suggest you go out after checking in and grab some local delicacies or proper food at the nearby carinderias.

Too small for an international airport. They also removed the small food stalls in the departure area which is a good thing to add space but a bad thing for those who are hungry. We had to go out to eat which is not so bad.

They have clean restrooms though. =)
