Finally! I thought I would never try this restaurant, i've waited two years for this moment to finally eat here 128525

Two weeks prior to our vacation I already contacted their receptionist to reserve us a seat haha, just to be 500% sure we'd get a table for 12pax, upon entrance the waitig area was very crowded but despite the wait, the place had full of picturesque areas, they decorated it on purpose so people are well entertained while waiting for their turn as taking photos and posting it on social media is a great past time especially here in the selfie capital of the world 128518

I like their place, it had a native feel but with a modern touch to it, it was well maintained as one of their strict rules is no footwear allowed inside the restaurant, but they alotted some baskets for your shoes so it won't get mixed up.

Their menu was simple, everything was in a set meal so you'll have the chance to taste a bit of their dishes

Ka Lui Special of the day 128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻
A set of fish steak, prawns, fish roll in curry cream, eggplant tempura, seaweeds, and a choice of polished (white) or unpolished rice (brown rice), i opted brown instead coz i love that earthy texture of brown rice, this is good enough for two, servings were generous that you don't.... can't order a side dish 128518 all of the dishes were spot on, fish steak was tender and grilled to perfection, fish roll in curry was bursting with native flavors, the prawns were perfectly fried and butterflied, eggplant tempury was a great compliment and the rice is perfect to break the richness and creaminess of the dishes

Choice catch 128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻
A choice between tuna steak, fish cordon bleu, shrimps, squid, and blue marlin paired with eggplant tempura, seaweeds, and rice, serving is good for one person

All of their set meals come with a complimentary dessert of assorted fruits served in a coconut shell topped with muscovado sugar

This is another place to go to in Palawan. It's quite popular around the town-- actually this and kinabuch. Reservation here is a must since the place gets really jam packed on normal days. You could ask your hotel/accommodation to do that for you since the place is very well known.

What's special at Kalui is their fresh catch. Our tour guide mentioned that if you like seafood, you should go here. What i also like is their service. It's no simple thing to have a full house every time and get to be entertained/served in less than 10 minutes. When you enter the restaurant proper, you will be asked to take your foot wear. The floor is made of wood or sort of bamboo and i my feet feels it's clean naman. Except for the CR part that's located at the end of the restaurant. I was a little bit hesitant on settling my foot over moist floor. Eep.

The place was a little hot. We were seated a little crowded at a wooden table. The menu only offers a small range of seafood, the rest were drinks. What we had was their Kalui Special Set of the Day for PhP585 good for 2-4 pax. It includes their veggie for the day which taste like pinakbet, fish roll in coco cream that absolutely went well with the rice that's sold separately, fresh prawns (again i did not partake with eating it) and fish steak which was forgettable.

We also got
128204128525 kilawin @210PhP
Tuna ceviche in coconut milk. Considerably good tasting. Kristin A get this if there's a chance of you going here. The green chilli spiced the dish mildly.

They also offer the eeky clams called tamilok but people say that the tamilok can be best ordered at kinabuch. Other interesting dish they serve is the adobong eel. But since everything here comes with a high price, we dissed the idea of getting one.

The place also offered us free dessert. Fresh fruits in fresh buko, sweetened by brown sugar. Thanks kalui.

The place could also be rented for events, they got a stage where in you could have some presentation. Live band? Why not.

KaLui is an institution in Puerto Princesa.  This is the first restaurant locals would recommend to the weary traveller in their city.

This is where we had lunch the moment we set foot in Puerto.  The restaurant is conveniently located near the airport.  Less than 10 minutes away,  give or take.

The place was packed when we arrived,  we were lucky that there were a couple pf vacant seats available.  The entire place is made of bamboo!  It screams Filipino from every corner.  There were nooks adorned with woood carvings and artwork.   I particularly liked the wooden masks,  it reminds me of the immunity idol in survivor.

Forgive me as i have forgotten the name of the dish me got and the price.  Yes,  this is one of my backlogs and the visit was a couple of weeks back.

Food.  We got one of the meal sets they have.  It comprises of grilled tuna,  shrimp,  mackerel in coconut milk and the complimentary dessert.

| Grilled Tuna.   This is one of the best grilled dishes I've had in a while.  A thick slab of fresh tuna grilled to perfection.  Best eaten with chili-infused soy sauce.

| Buttered Shrimp.  He likes shrimp.  I do too,  only when the shells are removed.  Anyway,  the shrimp is cooked perfectly.  The seasoning is on point as it highlights the shrimp.

| Mackerel in Coconut Milk.  This is my favourite as i like anything cooked in coconut milk.  It's a faux sushi!  Veggie rolls using mackerel fillet.  This is so good,  the coconut milk is cooked perfectly,  i can tell with the consistency of the sauce and the taste.

| Complimentary Dessert.  Fresh fruits inside a Coconut drizzled with Muscovado Sugar.  I love the texture of the coconut,  it's in semi solid form,  similar to macapuno (they call it "Malauhog"  in the vernacular).  The muscovado sugar brings a caramel like sweetness to the fruits.

Lunch was satisfying.  Everything they served is delicious and comes with a very reasonable price.  We paid less than php 700 for everything (rough estimate)

For my lunch, I ordered their shrimps plate for Php 265.00. Really satisfying!

For dinner, I ate with my workmate and ordered there set meal for 2 and is was so sulit for Php 585.00!

Ambiance is great. Staffs are accommodating.
What more can I ask for?

And oh, I actually like their BAREFOOT set up within the resto. 9786

I waited almost 30 minutes to be seated. I actually thought that I would have to find another restaurant for dinner. I did not have reservation. But I was lucky tonight. The ambience is best as always, the music is fitting. OPM at it's best. They practice barefooting. This was my second time in Ka Lui, I came with my friends few years ago. But tonight, I came alone to kick off my solo birthday trip.
I ordered the fish cordon bleu in the choice of catch selection. This came with potato fries, which I mistaken for eggplant at first glance, a cup of rice, seaweeds, veggies and ripe mango for dessert. Not bad for PhP245. I especially like the sweet potato. It was crunchy. The fish cordon bleu was delish too, a bit on the crunchy side too. It was difficult to finish the seaweeds though, but it was necessary, for food trip bucket list. Haha. I got the mango shake to complete my meal. I was too full when I left.

Plus point for the service (or maybe because they let me had my dinner there tonight). 128514 #henrysinstaxgiveaway

I think this is one of the best restaurants I've been to in my life. The whole experience was superb! The ambiance, food, affordability, service and cultural experience KaLui provides were unique and unforgettable.

Food: Unique taste, serving was good for 2-3 people. We had the fish sisig which we really liked bec of its creamy sauce and fresh taste (first time to really enjoy fish sisig) We also had a bowl of Sinigang ni Kaka (?) which was sour and sweet at the same time. The meat was tender and the soup was flavorful. It wasn't much of a hit for my friends bec they were expecting more of the Sinigang taste. The complimentary dessert was good! We had a slices of fruits served in a buko :) The mangoes, papaya and melon were really sweet. 128525

Ambiance: 6 stars! Hehe. Everyone was walking bare-feet for more 'culture' :) there were paintings and artistic sculptures all over the place which makes it like an art gallery/restaurant :) love the set up of the whole place

Service: Superb! Fast, very accommodating and polite! No problems encountered and they were able to manage every table despite the number of customers they had :)

Overall, 5 starss! Definitely coming back <3 #12Days

Kalui is located in Rizal Avenue Rd. Puerto Princesa City. This restaurant has a wide variety of menus like seafoods, veggies etc. Kalui restaurant is made of native wooden house, and it is a must visit place among tourists. The footwear was left outside before you enter the restaurant and they'll place it on a small lockers. 127860

Definitely my favorite in Puerto Princesa. Here's why:
- Interior 128079128079128079 (They even have a mini museum inside)
- Concept : you have to remove your shoes at the entrance before you can enter, cool right?
- Food : glimpse of heaven (we ordered their set meal w/c includes lobster, buttered shrimp, and tuna steak. We also ordered tuna sashimi and their best seller Tubbataha salad) Everything was superb.

They're always fully-booked that you have to reserve a table hours before your visit. Thankfully, our hotel reserved one for us.

KaLui is the perfect restaurant to have your 1st meal in Puerto Princesa since it is just a short drive away from Palawan Airport. According to the locals, it is wise to have a reservation in this restaurant since KaLui is almost always jampacked!

The place is spacious like an old house with a sprawling lot. Upon entering KaLui, you will be asked to remove your slippers. Don't worry! The floor has been polished so well that the dirt doesn’t even stick to it!

Ka Lui offers a variety of dishes depending on the particular fresh catch of the day. It’s pretty much all veggies and seafood.

I reccommend this Fish Roll Guinataan with Curry. This is rolled Tanigue with chili in curry sauce. Be mindful though that the leaf at the center which looks like a rolled Kangkong has finger chili inside, too. The entire dish was actually not spicy at all unless, of course, you crush the chili. Make sure to order extra rice as the curry sauce is rich and flavorful.
