Had a quick weekend getaway to Pagudpud. Our choice of place to stay was Kapuluan. Kapuluan is at the very end of the blue lagoon beach. If you are like us that preffered a less crowded area this place is the best choice. Another reason that we chose this place was this place is a surfers127940 haven. But unfortunately the waves were flat on our visit. 128546

The place got a minimalist relaxing vibe. The kind of vibe that you can just stay and play some board games or just lie on the duyan while reading some books. The vibe reflect the laid back surfer vibe of the owner Mike Oida.

On their beach front they have a place for guest to relax but the problem on this side of the beach is its a little bit rocky. Not a good place to swim. What you can do is walk to Dos Hermanos island during low tide. Watching the sunsets127774 on top of the island is a must try just be extra careful.

For the rooms we got the standard aircon room for 2700 + 550 for extrabed. The rate includes breakfast meal. The room is very simple but the bathroom is very nice.

For breakfast I love their laoag longanisa. Crunchy garlicky longanisa. I like this more compared to the sweet longanisa in manila. We also grab their buy 1 take 1 cocktail happy promo from 12pm-7pm. Their sangria was so good. Red tide was also more a nice light drink. Got a little drunk with all those cocktails. The waiter was also very accomodating in allwing us to order and serve some of the drinks after the happy hour.

Overall eventhough we didn't get the chance to surf. I love how accomodating they are. Place is defintely my go to place when in pagudpud away from the crowd. Hope on the next visit the pool we'll be working and still planning to get a chance to surf in pagudpud. 128522

My niece and I had lunch here, we ordered a Bagnet and some Porkchops. The food were okay and we can complaint on the drinks. Happy hour starts at noon. It's buy one get one and all alcoholic drinks. We couldn't be more than happy. We definitely enjoyed our drinks in a relaxing and private setting and our server is awesome!

As student in the Philippines, I try to visit as many places as I can to alleviate the stressors of the everyday grind. In the years I've been here, there hasn't been a place that had stood out quite as much as KPV to help me alleviate those stressors. Along with their great resort (as mentioned on my previous review of KPV), their restaurant serves some of the best food I've tasted in N. Luzon.

There are abundant reasons why KPV's food is great; one of which is because they are able to blend western cuisine with Filipino effortlessly. Ingredients used in their dishes are organically grown at the resort. Another is that their bread, tortillas are homemade, omitting preservatives found in store-bought breads. So, when you eat at KPV, know that you will always be full without the guilt. Those are only a few of many reasons given, but I know you want me to get straight to the food review. 128517

The dish shown is their famous open-faced fish burritos. Their homemade tortilla wrap is filled with seasoned rice, organic greens and tomatoes, cheese with an ample amount of fish that had been caught by the owner and/or staff, that is grilled to perfection. Yes, they catch their own fish! The hot sauce, which is also homemade, adds just the right amount of bite to the burrito. If fish isn't your craving at the moment, their Pollo Asada (chicken), also their lobster (if in season) is as delicious.

Another favorite dish of mine on their menu is the Kapuluan Kilawen. It's not your typical Filipino-style kilawen. It is reminiscent of Ahi Poke (poi-kei). If you are familiar with poke, a dish native to Hawaii. It is made similarly, but the ingredients used makes this dish unique. The fish is always fresh, never having a "malansa" taste. The sauce is light, welled seasoned, savory and very aromatic. This will go well with your favorite local beer.

In the morning, I suggest you try their waffles. They have different toppings for it, and I assure it will help put a spring to your step if you plan on hitting the waves, or do any outdoor activity around the Blue Lagoon area.

KPV also serves local dishes. All are as good as the dishes I've mentioned.

Last, but not least, have their ever-so-famous Alma's Margaritas! This refreshing drink is perfect any day and any time.

Excellent quality is always given to the food served in Kapuluan Vista Resort. I truly believe they set the standards on what resort dining should be.

Simplicity provides a fine line between elegance and plainness.

I have been going to this resort for the past 5 years. I can honestly say that this is my favorite spot to go to in the Norther Luzon area.

Kapuluan Vista Resort (KPV) remains to be a simple, tranquil and beautiful resort. It's a place to escape and unwind from the hustle and bustle of the every day. One can enjoy the simplicities of life, like surf, listen to the waves while reading their favorite novel on the white sands, or just laying on a hammock under the shade of coconut trees. .

Simplicity not only goes for KPV itself, but it extends to the owners, Mike and Alma Oida, as well as their excellent staff. Ever since my first visit, they have always been a warm and down to earth couple, who have always gone out of their way to accommodate their visitors. Everything you want out of a peaceful resort is in KPV--EVEN FOOD!

That's why many who have come to visit have come to love KPV.

We had lunch here.
Beach side, you can see the dos Hermanos island. Shore is not advisable for swimming cause its rocky here. They offer surfing lessons here!! -great! Unluckily, we went here with raindrops with us. Grrrr!

So, we had our lunch (reserved earlier)... They are accommodating for the advanced orders. Food is a bit pricey but for me its reasonable cause its really good!
Upon waiting they gave us free welcoming drink, salabat :) yeah! Ginger!!!!!

I tried dinakdakan which is a local dish and i loved it! Its like eating sisig with bigger chunks of meat. Hehe
Tried their signature drink the alma's margarita which happens to be buy1take1 so my son shared a drink! Haha!

Place is really relaxing! Forget the wind and rain., we wanted to stay longer but the itinerary didn't permit us. Lol

I'll be back here!!! With the sun with me!!!!
Promise!

It's the best place for R&R in Pagudpud. It's so detached from the world that you don't even notice the chaotic energy at Hannah's Resort 1km away.

There are only 6 rooms and 8 dormitory beds so there are only about 20-26 people staying in the resort at one time.

Rooms

The deluxe rooms we stayed in were comforting and relaxing. It's quite soundproof from the noise outside, which is welcome when you just want to rest. The walls between rooms though are quite thin so you actually hear conversations from the other rooms.

Check-in

Upon arrival at the resort, the front desk staff were already on hand to welcome us. Everything was prepared already and we only had to fill up some papers before they handed us our keys.

Restaurant and Food

I love the restaurant. Being a vegetarian, I love the fact that the herbs and most of the vegetables come from their very own organic garden. I took a tour around their garden and loved seeing all those lettuces, basil and tomatoes. And, since one of the owners was vegetarian, vegetarian dishes were a staple on the menu. I loved their veggie pinakbet (which was cooked with ginger instead of bagoong) and their veggie burger (made with banana blossoms, not tofu or beans).

Activities

If you're looking for lots of different activities, you won't find that here. You can go to Hannah's for that. At Kapuluan, they offer surfing lessons from their professional and experienced surf instructors, including Mike, the owner. They can also book a tour for you with different packages. Tour packages include Pagudpud, Bangui, Burgos and Laoag. There's also body massage available and yoga (upon availability of instructor). They also have a pool at the resort since their beach front is not ideal for swimming (but awesome for surfing).

Owners and Staff

Owned by surfing couple, Mike and Alma, they lead the wonderful staff of Kapuluan Vista Resort. Everybody's friendly and approachable, ready to answer all your questions, grant your requests (if possible) and on hand to make sure that your stay is as wonderful as they are.

Bar and Happy Hour

They have happy hour everyday from 12pm to 8pm, buy one take one. How can you go wrong with that? Must try: Alma's Margarita and their Mojito.

Overall, our stay at Kapuluan was exceptional. I'm not a fan of Pagudpud but if I go back, it's only so I can stay at KVR again. Mike, Alma and the rest of the staff have made it so welcoming, it feels like a second home.

If you find yourself at Pagudpud, be sure to stay here. You seriously won't regret it. Book early though. Because of the limited number of rooms, they get fully booked easily.

The best place to stay and dine at Blue Lagoon, Pagudpud!!!

I love their burritos especially the lobster burrito (Php500) . Ask them to lessen Spanish rice for a more intense flavor :)

Other bestsellers: tuna kilawen (P300), fresh tomato and chicken pasta

Everything is light and fresh. Most of their ingredients come from their own backyard!

After eating, sip calamansi freezies beside the sea! Super relaxing!

Look for their friendly owners: surfer couple Mike and Alma Oida :)

Put up by a Pinoy surfer who loves all things organic, this place has an awesome menu of healthy and homemade dishes, rocks an incredible playlist and is more intimate than its neighboring surf schools in Pagudpud. Minimum budget per meal is P200.

This resort had been on my mind for the longest time, as the owners are a surfer couple I've surfed with a few times in La Union.

A 5-week stay in the Ilocos region from July-August finally made a visit to Pagudpud possible. To say that it was beautiful would be a gross understatement.

Kapuluan Vista is off the beaten track. It's on the ocean front, but not near the resorts tourists normally flock to. Most of the guests are either foreigners (8 out of 10 are surfers) or people (like me) who dislike crowds and just want to be left alone.

There are accommodations for every budget. Their rates already include breakfast, and if you don't surf, you can take a dip in their pool or enjoy a lovely, healthy meal at the restaurant. The resort has their own organic vegetable garden.

Happy hour is from noon to 8pm, definitely guaranteed to get you wasted before sunset. Their margaritas are a must-try.

It might be a bit inconvenient to go to, but it makes a trip to the northernmost part of the Philippines worth it.
