The taste was good pwede na pampalit sa yabu actually I don't like yabu @sm north Hindi ako natuwa.

The katsu curry was pretty good! 128523 I found the curry sauce a little thick though, so it was nakakaumay after a while. I know their katsu sets come with unlimited rice and miso soup, but I'm not sure if the curry does as well.

We were craving for japanese so we decided to eat here. Yes it's my first katsu experience hahaha and i enjoyed grinding the sesame seeds. I got the chicken katsu while my friend got the pork. The sauce was okay but would've liked it better if they have honey to add to the standard katsu sauce. Rice wasn't japanese rice it's just plain normal rice but cooked soft. The miso soup is okay not that strong and not that light. The dressing on the cabbage is also okay. The taste of my chicken was a bit bland? I don't know if it's normal but it would be better if they season their meats as well and not just depend on the sauce.. Overall our japanese craving was satisfied and i'm happy with what i ate. The staff were also friendly which is a plus and the place is nice. Total bill was just under 500 which is cheap for japanese restos 128077

I have one word for this food (chicken katsu set) it was INTENSE! Hahahah compared to YABU its cheeper but the taste is a lot better :) the service was also fast and staff was friendly, all in all a good dining experience. Just one thing they need to improve more( im not saying it does not look good but can be improved) the ambience and also a little music, it was so silent when we ate because there was nothing playing at the background.

I was too hungry to take a picture, I actually remembered not taking one when I've eaten everything on my plate. 128514
Ordered Tonkatsu and chicken katsu for the bf, plus miso soup and gyoza.
I actually crave for the miso soup whenever we eat at Yabu but for Katsu Cafe, they lack of taste, I wasn't that quite satisfied with it but I end up sipping everything on the bowl. 128523
For the Tonkatsu., I'd give 4 128077 for it, I love the combination of sauce and the mayo dip.. 128513
I didn't get te chance to have some of the bf's. He was the 1st to taste the gyoza and he immediately warned me not to have one, Idky, but then I saw a review about the gyoza being too sweet and that she doesn't recommend her viewers ordering Katsu Cafe's gyoza, well I think that explains it.
All in all, I really like the place.. 9786

Katsu Cafe offers a wide variety of tonkatsu products. I ordered chicken katsu set which comprise of miso soup, cabbage salad, chicken tonkatsu and rice. The price of Php 195 is quite reasonable as the katsu is smaller than its competitors' offerings. Taste-wise, its not remarkable but still acceptable possibility due to its sauce. The miso soup is great but the cabbage salad is just fine. Oh, if you're fond of rice, it comes unlimited with the set!

What's for dinner? We were walking along Maginhawa St looking for a new place to dine. We decided to try Katsu Cafe. I ordered Fish Katsu Set, it comes with cabbage salad in sesame dressing, miso soup, steamed rice with sesame seeds. If you love Yabu, you'll love this inexpensive yet good tasting katsu too. If you're on a tight budget, and craving for good tasting katsudon dishes, this is the place to try. Its comparable to Yabu, i must say.

Since we were in the area and we were craving some katsu, we decided to try out Katsu Cafe. It shares the same building with other restaurants like The Sweet Spot and The Breakfast Table that's why parking space is limited.

The place is spacious and well lit. However, I noticed that some tables weren't cleaned very well. We also wished they played more apt music instead of just random songs in their playlist. Service can still be improved. Although they were able to bring in our orders quickly, the server had her poker face the whole time. Oh well, maybe she was having a bad day.

Anyway, we ordered their Pork Katsu Set (P215) and 3 pcs. Jumbo Prawn Tempura (P285). The katsu set came with an unlimited bowl of miso soup, Japanese rice, pork katsu, and cabbage drizzled with roasted sesame dressing. It was okay but definitely incomparable to that of Yabu's. Their katsu could use a little more seasoning but overall, it was okay. The prawn tempura was good and they did use jumbo tiger prawns.

Katsu Cafe is actually not bad when you just need your katsu fix. It's a great and cheap alternative to the other katsu places in the metro.

This is the Japanese restaurant along Maginhawa street called Katsu Cafe.

The parking may be full but the restaurant still has a lot of vacant seats available so I decided to check out this place.

It was clean and spacious. The attendants were nice and very prompt in taking our orders. When I saw the menu, the food were a bit pricey compared to Crazy Katsu (the first Japanese restaurant built in Maginhawa street).

I ordered their Pork Katsu Set.

While waiting for the food, I started making the sauce for the katsu dish which was similar in Yabu wherein you grind the spices, add the katsu sauce, and put other chili spices. 128522

When my food arrived, I started weating. it taste good and yummy! 128522128522 I was referred by Kuya J to join the #loolooiPhone6giveaway!

Ordered the Pork Katsu Set, and I wanted to order again! Pork was cooked perfectly, sauce just the right mix of savory and sweet. Miso soup was flavorful that I finished it in one go :) Could be a new favorite :)

Great, cost effective alternative for Yabu or Ginza Bairin. For instance, the Chicken Katsu set that's usually PHP315 in Ginza Bairin is only PHP195 here. Rice and miso soup are also unlimited, but the cabbage and sauce aren't. There's also no fruit. The quality of the chicken katsu is also, expectedly, not comparable.

Would have given a higher score, if only the servers were more attentive and spent more time paying attention to the customers vs. hiding in a corner.

Hence, it's ok to eat here to simply satisfy a Japanese food craving, but if you're looking for quality food and service, not to mention unlimited cabbage, sauce and fruits (and you have money to spare), go to Yabu or Ginza Bairin.

Kurt and I were craving for Yabu but we were on 'tipid' mode. So we tried an inexpensive Japanese resto in Maginhawa- the Katsu Cafe.

🔹FOOD & PRICE: Before our order was served, they first gave us Miso soup which was really good for a starter. They also have this sesame seed thing which like Yabu to make an awesome sauce for the Katsu. Super good with lots of chili powder!!! Our order had arrived after couple of minutes and we had:

✔Pork Katsu Set (P215.00) - Medium size which comes with Japanese rice and Japanese cabbage. (I really like the cabbage, does anyone know where to buy?) The taste of pork was tender and crunchy! Good to satisfy cravings for katsu. I enjoyed my meal though I was not really hungry.

✔Chicken Katsu Set (P195.00) - Kurt ordered this and I tried to taste it. It was like pork also. I don't know how to distinguish the difference between their taste haha! But this was good also with the sauce.

✔Sola Ice Tea (P60.00) - No need to describe this! 128513

🔹SERVICE: I was happy with their service. So far so good 128077

🔹PLACE: Very Japanese! 🇯🇵 Cool ambiance. But WiFi was not working! Arggg
