I never really liked or craved sisig until I tried ken afford's =P~ damn. Simple lang siya but super good. Ken't get enough (pilit)

GAMBAS 3/5
Saks lang. There's better gambas out there.

Ayusin lang sana yung sign nila cuz tarpaulin lang :( sayang naman. Especially if gabi and hindi talaga makita yung sign :)))

I like their food. Carenderia-style na air-conditioned. I like lutong bahay. Its too bad they relocated, ang lapit pa naman ng place ko sa old na pwesto.

I've been seeing bad reviews about this place, but they have one of the best kaldereta there is aside from Gerry's Grill. It was actually pretty good IMO. 128522

Their dishes are very Filipino all right, but all the dishes I've tried--beef nilaga, beef with mushroom, kare-kare, kangkong with chicken strips and garlic-- all of em tasted bland. It's like eating hospital food.
I like that they pack take-out's on microwaveable containers, which I recycle. Hehehh.

I enjoyed its classic home-cooked style dishes. The Bulalo Kare Kare (P175) and Sisig (around P150) taste good. The Buko Panda Salad (P50) is really flavorful with very soft gelatin. The meals are good for 2.

I've heard of this resto in Katipunan since college days (that's around 10 years ago), but it was my first time to dine there last weekend.

127775127775127775127775 good food, good price, clean place, with AC, fast service.

128078 what a let down!

For starters, Ken Afford is not affordable. Well it kinda is and it kinda isn't i guess. The meal prices range from 100php to 200php. But quality-wise i think they should sell it for hella less. :(

It was a let down coz the last time I ate there was first year college and i remember loving the homey food and fast service. Now the prices have gone up, food tasted bad, it took them 30+ minutes to serve, the waiter barely paid attention and we had to keep asking for our bill out.

I ordered the grilled porkchop at 110php. The porkchop was very dry, very bland and very hard to chew. Also, the rice wasn't freshly cooked and was probably just reheated. And you can really tell because all moisture was gone. 128078128078

I dont think im ever coming back :(

WTF, Ken Afford!

I used to eat here when I was still a college student. (What's up Peanut D!!! 7th in the class!!! 128557) When I saw that it still EXISTED I thought it would be cool to eat here again after mmmmm 2 years. Hahahahuhuhuhuhu.

So we enter the little restaurant, ask for menus, and they give us ONE. We order teriyaki, tinola, lumpiang ubod, and pinakbet. The waiter repeats our order as: teriyaki, tinola, and ampalaya. Wait. No. That's not right. You missed the last two dishes and made up another one! He finally gets the correct order but a few minutes later he returns to tell us there's no more teriyaki.

Let's fast forward to 30 minutes later when they FINALLY serve us our food. Tinola, pinakbet, and...wait. Why are you putting that plate of ampalaya in front of me? We didn't order ampalaya!

We eat our food only to satisfy our hunger. Ok no that's a lie. I'm still hungry! I am never coming back here again. Oh and kuya you never served us our lumpiang ubod!

I tried their bestseller sisig ala domeng and it was ok. I thought of something cheaper for 150 per meal, I think it is not so affordable, maybe affordable for Ateneans not for Iskos at Iskas!!

Nothing special. A misleading name of the restaurant. Ugh.

Seafood Kare-kare -- SO SO. Full of vegetables with only one shrimp. They should put two since they said it was good for sharing! >:(

Sinigang na Baboy -- OKAY. The soup was very sour which is the reason I like it. Okay with the amount of meat present. True to its word when they say good for sharing.

The last time I went here was when the prices are still affordable and the servings are plenty. Today (24 July), I feel deprived and disappointed. Anyway, free wifi makes me feel happy.

I've been a loyal patron of Ken Afford for many years. Lots of after-Basketball meals were eaten here, and many late cravings for sisig were satisfied on my student's budget at the time. So I was pretty excited to visit an old favorite!

Unfortunately, it was a bit of a letdown. Not only was it slightly pricier, but they shrunk the sisig servings!! They just spread it out on the sizzling plate more. (Di ko pa nabawasan yung sa photo! I just moved it all to one side to show how they they tried to hide the smaller serving)

For anyone who knows me, higher prices and smaller serving sizes are two of the biggest red flags in my book. 128557

Home cooked Filipino meals at reasonable prices. <3

My first visit at Ken Afford was way back last, last year after a long night of binge drinking with friends, so we decided that we needed some grease in our system. And god, we immediately fell in love with their lechon kawali and kare-kare. THESE TWO ARE MUST TRIES. Since then we started to frequent the place to satiate our hunger for mama/nanay/lola style cooking.

So for tonight's visit, we forewent the lechon kawali (healthy choices kuno), but we still had the kare-kare (because it's so yummy). We also had the beef steak (bistek) and it was so-so, the beef was marinated perfectly but the cuts weren't your usual bistek cuts, I need my bistek to have ulat-ulat. We also had the lumpiang shanghai, and how can you fuck up lumpiang shanghai? :))

The missing star was for the service, though the orders went out fast, every time we needed a water refill, the server was nowhere to be found. The same thing happened when we wanted to pay the bill. Maybe they should install a buzzer at the second floor? Just a suggestion. :)
