I’m constatly looking for ramen resto that has flavorful ramen broth just like the one I tasted in Makati. That brought me here at Kichitora.

I ordered for the Black Garlic Paitan. They said that their broth is made from chicken stock not the usual pork broth. It was good, the soup was very flavorful just the way I like my ramen soup to be. The chasu was equally good and the noodles was firm too.

Now why did I rate it 3 stars only despite that I really liked their ramen?

I was finished halfway when I noticed a hair strand. I thought it’s just from the eyelashes but upon pulling it up, it was a long strand of hair that was in my ramen. :( I called the attention of their server and they took my ramen bowl back at their kitchen and asked me if I wanted it to be replaced. I have them replaced the soup. They gladly did so but I didn’t receive any apologies from them. :(

I would’ve given 4 or even 5 stars because I really liked the ramen.

128149Date for Two: Kichitora Paitan Ramen, Kichitora Paitan Tsukemen, Gyoza
128140Total: P770

Overall: Food is undoubtedly great but we have to give this a one heart less since we are expecting a ‘hot’ dish. Ours arrived in a bit lukewarm one, which is kinda disappointing. Nonetheless, we still loved it! The broth is superb! Service and ambiance is great as well. Just don’t sit near the kitchen if you want to stay away from the heat.

Value for money: We got a coupon from Metrodeal so we paid around 70% of the total bill. Worth it if there’s a discount but we don’t think we’ll be spending the full amount for this at our regular weekly date. But still, we suggest to go try this now. 128522

I do like kara/miso and shiyo variants but wouldn’t intentionally “eat out” for it. I’m more of a TANTANMEN ramen monster! 128123 I absolutely love the thick, creamy and nutty broth, with a hint of sweetness and fiery spice! I think I may have found my ultimate three —-

#1 Mendokoro
#2 Kichitora 128261
#3 Ukkokei

I first discovered their tantanmen at Glorietta 5, long before they overhauled their menu and changed it to “WHITE SESAME RAMEN”.

Take note that this is different from the “Tanmen”. Quite odd isn’t it? 128517

Of my three ultimate joints, KICHITORA :

▫️has the strongest (and creamiest) sesame broth with firm, hard noodles like Ramen Nagi but only thicker.
▫️has onion leaks, and bamboo shoots (that i really love! It’s my chewy stopper in case I get too addicted and keep slurping without breathing 🤣
▫️is the 100% sugar level type, Mendokoro being 50-75 and Ukkokei stopping at 25. I still don’t mind though, because the intensity of spiciness AND the creamy, bold & nutty aftertaste is just ——- ahhhhhhh 🤤

OTHER OBSERVATIONS :
** you have to add more chili oil and/or togarashi to reach the nagi level 6 for spiciness. But as it is, folks with level 2 - 3 tolerance would sweat after a few slurps 128521 Ukkokei has my spicy level 128521

** very tasty minced ground pork, but not as generous as Ukkokei’s.

** Chasu side order was deliciously fatty and tender! A bit on the stringy-meat side yet still flavorful and lightly charred. It isn’t as creamy, melts-in-your-mouth version of Mendokoro’s! But it’s a good add-on 🤤

Side note : their Megamall branch isn’t as oriental and elegant as the now-closed Glorietta branch. If that’s for a nice dinner date, this branch is for casual ramen dining :)

PS : Let’s have a ramen club! Hehe
#TantanmenClub

P2S2 : I haven’t tried Butamaru and Wrong Ramen yet. I remember Ippudo having a tantanmen special edition, but I didn’t like it all. The diced onion + leaks were pungent and distracting 128517

Looloove,
B

I've been trying to see if there's any changes to the Paitan Ramen from Kichitora. When we asked the owner if they madd any changes to the recipe, he said they didn't. It's still the same - they just changed the names in the menu.

The Black Garlic Paitan Ramen (formerly known as Paitan Zenbu no Se) is really good. I still enjoy eating the ramen, drinking the broth and biting into that soft flavored egg. I've always opted for the pork chashu, but maybe in the future I should try the chicken one.

Their gyoza and their chicken karaage are great sides to the ramen!

A tip: Ask the server for some black garlic oil. It's not readily available in the condiments on the table but you can ask for more if you'd like.

One of the best and underrated ramen place. Unlike other place that were hyped and I get to try right away. This place is located at 2nd Floor of Megamall, which I personally discovered few years ago.

It was great to be back with my ramen lover friend. And we felt relieved when our ramen cravings are finally satisfied.

We had the Black Garlic Paitan Ramen (P390). A big bowl yet I get to finish everything inside it 128522 it has strips of chasu, dried seaweeds and onion leaves with molten lava egg. Perfect! The mouthwatering broth.♥️

Verdict: 2 thumbs up for the ramen. Its consistently good128522

Their Black Garlic Paitan Ramen is still my favorite ramen. Just the broth itself, masarap and very distinct yung lasa. When i first visited kitchitora, their chasu feels like it melts in your mouth pero ngayon parang di na. But the broth tastes the same 128076128076128076

For the food i would give 11088110881108811088️ just because the taste is still the same as before. But for the service, 1108811088️ lang. mejo suplado si kuya and hindi makarequest ng extra bowl and ramen spoon. Hehe.

But i would still recommend their black garlic paitan ramen for 390 Php. Parang matagal makalimutan yung lasa. 128522128522128522

Biglaang Ramen!

We were supposedly to have our dinner at Mesa but while we were waiting for our table, my mom suddenly changed her mind, she wanted a ramen! And so, I searched here on looloo for a ramen place and just beside Mesa is Kichitora.

I am a ramen noob, really. 128514 but I will based my review to my mom's tastebud. She actually loved the Black Garlic Paitan Ramen (390 pesos) and we shared it since it's already good for two. The soup was really flavorful, the pork was tender and really tasty! I could actually remember the taste right now. 128514 we added 150 pesos for the iced tea and chicken karaage (tender, boneless, really really delicious!)

My boyfriend also ordered their Paitan Ramen original (?) and it was also delicious! 128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻

We really love bottomless iced tea and their version of house blend iced tea is really refreshing. 128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻127836127836127836127836

The staff were really friendly, the place is also cozy which is really a ramen place.

Of course the food was actually unforgettable (for me and to my mama and boyfriend) 128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻

[Disclaimer: Late post.]

I used to be a frustrated Japanese wannabe. I wanted to be just like those anime characters with huge eyes and cute curly hair. But since that’s quite impossible, I resorted to learning the language (well, barely) and eating everything Japanese. I got a text from Frannywanny one night and told me to try Kichitora, a ramen place in front of Yabu (SM Megamall Atrium branch) and I just had another food stop target.

It has been a while since N and I last saw each other. We originally planned a food trip but since it’s the traffic everywhere season, we decided to stay put in Megamall and try the new ramen place foodies have been raving about.

Hello, Kichitora!

I was greeted by a dimly lit dining area (complete contrast to the well-lit branches of Ramen Bar) with wooden walls and furniture.

N and I were famished so we ordered one bowl of ramen each, I had the Paitan (White Soup) Chicken Tsukemen (PHP360) while N ordered the Special Miso Chashu Ramen with Ma Oil (PHP395). We also ordered Gyoza (PHP150) on the side.

The food was served quickly (well, there weren’t much diners when we went). So, as diners fond of taking photos of food, we patiently took photos before attacking our food.

I enjoyed eating my ramen as it was rather different. The noodles were served cold and I had to dunk it in the (really savory) soup.

The chicken was really tender and I just can’t stop raving about how flavorful the soup was. It was very rich in flavor. Though this made me eat more noodles than I anticipated as I am not very fond of strong flavors.

N’s ramen was pretty good as well. The meat in it was really soft and the soup was very rich as well. It was a bit saltier than mine (as mine was a tad sweeter) but I wouldn’t mind ordering this next time.

We were enjoying our ramen so much that we totally forgot about our gyoza!

The gyoza was really good and was served fresh. Just like the ramen, the gyoza was flavorful and I just love the contrast of the soft filling and the rather crisp edges.

I can’t wait to visit Kichitora again soon and try the other dishes. Hopefully, there will be more dessert offerings by that time too. :)

Definitely not going back. One of the worst ramen places I went to. The ambiance was too depressing. The place seemed to dark and unwelcoming. Service was also so slow. We would have understood if the place was packed but they only have 2 tables to serve (including us). The ramen itself was not bad but not among the best I've tasted. And if the ramen was amazing, we probably would have forgiven the slow service. But the ramen was definitely not worth the wait.

We meet again Paitan Ramen 127836 Still as good as ever! Perfectly cooked noodles and the broth as tasty as ever 128523 And for those with a smaller appetite, you have the option of ordering the smaller bowl instead of the regular one!

Don't forget to order their Karaage! It's really good, one of the best I've had! (actually the best in my book 128514) The only thing they need to improve on is service as it's rather slow most times 128513

Ramen cravings satisfied to 100% here at Kichitora of Tokyo!

Shown in the photo is their Paitan Ramen Zenbu no Se, which is their best selling ramen. As it should be because this ramen is just wonderful! The ramen craze here in Manila has died down a bit but I can never resist a good bowl of ramen!

I love this ramen because the noodles are cooked wonderfully – al dente! The broth is so rich and flavorful that you cannot help but empty the bowl! I was really happy with the broth because my previous ramen escapade led to a really salty broth! The eggs, the perfectly cooked lava eggs!! 10084️ And their chasu slices are thick and generous!

Basically everything about this bowl is something to rave about! Try it for yourself! 128077🏼 Felt really bloated after but I have no regrets!

The food here is incredible. Aside from the lackluster dessert, everything else was perfect.

I know people crave ramen on really cold days, but I gotta say that I'll still eat Kichitora's Paitan Ramen even when it's 100 degrees outside. I love it. Wait, let's capitalize that for a more dramatic effect: I LOVE IT! The pork chashu topping was delicious and tender and the broth was fatty, unctuous, with a mild level of salt.

Also, the Chicken Saboro Don was such an incredibly satisfying starter. The fried rice was so flavorful and has minced chicken cooked in a sweet soy sauce and then topped with slices of Onsen Tamago. Yum. Just yum!

Unlike other ramen places, the food here comes out quick. My friend and I were in and out in under an hour. The waiters were very friendly and accommodating to our needs. Totally worth the visit!

Cheers,
Mickey
