Fresh from my Japan trip, I didn't expect that we would be having Japanese food for lunch so soon after the trip. But here we are at Kimpura. 128514 Good thing I didn't have any teppanyaki while I was in Japan. 128514

Since there were 5 of us, we decided to order a set menu good for 6 people. 128055 We got Set 4 which had the following items:
★ fried rice
★ tuna sashimi
★ California maki roll
★ miso soup
★ agedashi tofu
★ chicken teppan
★ prawn teppan
★ beef teppan
★ beansprouts teppan
★ ice cream

When everything arrived at the table, it was pretty overwhelming actually. 128514 The fried rice and all the teppan items were cooked right in front of us since our table had a teppan on it. 128077🏼

First, the rice, followed by the prawn, chicken, beansprouts and the beef. All the teppan and the fried rice were quite good! Mainly because they were very generous with the butter!!! 128525 You can taste the butter in each spoonful of rice. Hahaha!

I actually gave my share of beansprouts to C. She wanted more and I couldn't eat any more. I finished the beef. 128525 Beef is 100841008410084️!!!

After everything, I felt I needed to go for a really long walk!! I was so full! 128055128055128055 The meal was fulfilling but it did cost quite a bit. Maybe if there were 6 of us sharing instead of 5 it would have been cheaper and less bloating. 128514

Pros :

1. Food was good. Ordered their new salmon roll, kimpura roll, sukiyaki, rib eye, chicken, oyster teppanyaki as well as gyoza and kani sushi.
2. They had Kirin beer.
3. Dilis appetizer was good as well
4. Price point was good.

Cons :

1. Service sucked big time. Took them about 45mins to give us our sushi. What's up with that?
2. Had a fan beside us. AC wasn't as cold.
3. I don't know why they don't leave the soy sauce on the table and just give you small portions..."cost cutting"?
4. Place needs renovation
5. Receptionists need to be more accommodating.
6. No wifi.
7. Tempura basket was old and was soaking in oil. They shouldn't use those bamboo baskets. Hive for bacteria.

Food may be good but if your service and place sucks you still deserve just 2 stars. 128078🏻128078🏻

A let down.

Sitting at the misono table is a guarantee of sizzling hot Teppanyaki scallops , prawn and oyster with asparagus spears cooked minutes faster than the succulent gindara.
Mixed japanese fried rice steaming in a bowl after preparation on the table means it is time to dig in the chopsticks while the chef prepares the finale
Medium rare angus beef and beensprouts!
Simply put , there are no leftovers...

The service was really slow. I had to order my drink twice. I had to ask for the dessert twice. I had to ask for water several times. For a restaurant with food this expensive, I felt like something was not right.

This should've been my go to place to bring family and friends out for a special events but I guess not anymore.

The chicken, blue marlin and black Angus steak teppanyaki didn't even taste Kimpura levels.

Either im acting like a spoiled brat for not getting what i want or maybe because i feel like I deserved so much more from this supposed exquisite restaurant.

THE BEST JAPANESE RESTO IN MANILA, believe me!!! 128074🏼 Salivating now just thinking about it. Haha!

Kimpura is that type of resto where you can bet everyone in your family will enjoy. Its been around for years, back when Greenhills still had vacant lots. 128514 You have the option between a misono table (food cooked in front of you) or a regular table.

Tip: Book in advance for big groups to reserve the rooms. Consumable.

What to Order:

1. Salmon Sashimi - SUPER FRESH AND JUICY 127843
2. Uni
3. Teppanyaki (Scallop, Steak, Cuttlefish)
4. Fried Rice
5. Sukiyaki
6. Tempura

We wanted to spend our hard earned salary eating really good food. So we thought...Kimpura! For that premium Japanese experience.

We were 4 people who ate and our bill was only 2k!

Here's what we ordered:

Dashi maki- pure egg sushi. It was good but ordinary.
Sukiyaki cuts- Now this was really good. You can tell the chef how you want it done.
Oyster-okay. Ordinary also.
Mixed rice- it was such a delight to see the chef cook and mix the rice in front of us. And it was so good to eat too!
Total bill was only 2k! So that's just 500 per person!

The set we got was Sukiyaki and it was good for 1-2 persons but we weren't that hungry so I suggest if you want to save, you can get the Sukiyaki cuts, then just get another one like scallops or oyster.

We usually eat here during special occasions but because of the Metrobank card promo I guess letz go and eat 128512 Delicious quality Japanese food at an affordable price (during the promo) . Must go back again before promo ends. We ordered SET A from the set menu which had the Coffee Jelly as the dessert.

Too many resto review backlogs hehe

Had lunch w the fam last month in Kimpura GB5 and sitted at teppanyaki tableside.

Ordered 2 US beef, Blue marlin , Cuttlefish, chicken yakitori, ebi tempura , and other sides

Total bill was less than P5k for a hungry bunch of 2 adults and 2 fat kids :)

Food and Service were great ,but be prepared to smell like food upon leaving the resto

The fuzz about Kimpura was a little overrated. We asked for their best sellers and all the pushed were the most expensive dishes instead of the really good ones. A bit pricey too.

Slower service compared to before. Possibly because they are short on staff. They need to keep up with the competition too. The Kimpura Ortigas Branch is still my favorite Japanese Restaurant.

Ordered some assorted sushi and sashimi - loved every bit of what I ordered.

The oyster, salmon and shrimp teppanyaki - perfect for sharing (2). Loved this too.

Mixed fried rice - average. Maybe I shouldve gotten the kamameshi instead.

Here's part 2 of my review. That mixed fried rice you saw in my first review was part of their Set 1 Teppanyaki. Here's the full list:
1. Kani Kyuri Salad
2. Salmon Sashimi (very good!) and Dynamite Roll
3. Tempura shrimps :)
4. Blue marlin belly teppanyaki (VG!)
5. Chicken teppanyaki
6. Black angus ribeye steak with bean sprouts (VG!)
7. Mixed fried rice
8. Clear soup
9. Cofffee Jelly
There's something about seeing your food cooked in front of you. They let you smell and see it as it change form, color.
Definitely one of the best teppanyaki restaurants!
