Since it's Friday, decided to eat out today. Century Mall was just a short walk from the office, so instead of going to Glorietta, we went here. No idea where or what to eat. And yes, we're on budget. Decided to go to Hole in the Wall, at least, there's variety. On our way up, we saw Kimikatsu's promo meals. These are new in the menu, so they're offering it with an introductory price of.. Php 199. For the price you get a meal, Miso soup and Ice tea. I got the Chicken Katsu Curry. Here goes:
Serving size: good for 1-2 persons. If you're on a diet, you could split it with someone. If you gave the appetite (like I did) one order is just a little more than enough.
Taste: It was good! Chicken was tender. Although, the curry needed a little kick of spice. I loved spicy curry, so I just asked for chili powder. They have a wasabi mayo on the table for the shredded cabbage, I suggest you dip your chicken katsu there along with the curry sauce.. Yum!! I also drizzled my rice with a little of that sesame seed oil (also on present in every table). Oh gosh! I finished everything!! The Miso soup was ok. It's your typical miso soup.
Service: The staff were attentive and friendly.
Place: Let's say it's a perfect date place or alone time place.
Overall, my Php 199 was worth it!  I'd definitely go back and try their other meals. 128521 #Halloolooween2016

Sorry for the pic. Nothing's left haha.

Its my Boss' birthday and we celebrated it here!! I am a huge fan of Katsu and I really love it here! Staff were accommodating.

Just like Yabu, all side dishes were unlimited plus the rice. My boss ordered a Katsu set and I love their Cheese Katsu! Ugh! Will definitely go back here!!!

I'm a fan of fried food. And cheese. And so when the katsu became popular, it also became a favorite of mine. But it's sad that almost all the katsu places we've tried don't offer the kind of cheese katsu that we were looking for. Fortunately, this place came. Kimukatsu is where I usually run when I want to eat cheese katsu. What's different about their cheese katsu is that theirs is I guess creamier, cheesier and just goes well with the katsu. I think it's also because the meat is different since it is "mille-feuille". They also offer the usual unlimited meal that most katsu places offer. The servers were nice when we visited the place. It also wasn't packed and we got seats as soon as we arrived. I'm coming back for more!!!

Always a fan of a good Katsu place. Unfortunately, the Katsu wasn't the best that I had hoped for BUT I gave this place a 4 because of their beef gyudon that I tasted from my colleague. It melted in my mouth and was just right. Their rice and soup combination is fantastic. Hope their Katsu would improve more (got the yozu Katsu )

After sleeping for almost the whole saturday, i went here for a late dinner.

Ordered garlic katsu with pesto sauce 450 and a mixed of grind beef, pork on a ball shape katsu style *left side* 130 a la carte.

Katsu color abit dark that usual, but garlic lovers would love this since you could literally taste the garlic upon first bite, pesto sauce was a let down, at first the sauce was forgotten so it had to be put into a seperate bowl, the sauce feels like a straight out of freezer and reheated type, i dont recommend it since it doesnt match katsu well, i ended up using it as a sauce to my rice.

Grind beef and pork on a ball shape was good. 128522

Miso soup both red and white was too salty.

I really dont like the sauce on top of katsu thing but at most i might give the crush raddish a chance. Try to stick with the usual katsu. And gave a 4 because of the friendly and energetic server on the evening. 128522

Craving for katsu tonight so i decided to try it out here, already tried their bgc branch so i wasnt expecting much here. Their store here is hard to find, situated besides ikkoryu and they have the same dark ambiance, one could easily mistaken them to be 1 same resto, i also noticed that their logo is not quite high enough to attract customer. Upon entering the resto i noticed that its awkwardly short in terms of width but quite deep, imagine a long tetris brick. 128522 but im impressed with its wooden lanterns atop. 128516

Now for the katsu, ordered their cheese kimukatsu that comes with unli rice, salad, and miso soup at P390. Wow their pork is very tender, this branch is definitely better than the one at bgc. Also order their potato salad, it was also good as well. Their service was also very impressive. 128512

My favorite katsu place!

Best place for "family style" dining with friends or your family. Order the Kimukatsu assorted set so your group can try a little bit of everything. They offer the usual unlimited rice, soup and salad for their meal sets

Our favorite katsu flavors:
Garlic
Black Pepper
Cheese

Unlike other katsu places the meat here is soooo tender and they use quality ingredients. Try it! you won't regret it promise.

(Not so) Secret tip: put some pink salt on your hot rice and you'll end up eating a LOT but guaranteed happy in the end.

Millefeuille.  A rich cake consisting of thin layers of puff pastry filled with jam or cream.

Source:  Oxford Dictionary

The french culinary technique is not limited to desserts,  a Japanese Tonkatsu chain uses this delicate method in their Katsu creations.  I present to you - Kimukatsu.

Katsu era is not yet done in my opinion.  Our fascination with fried breaded premium pork knows no limits.  Hence the immergence of Katsu joints.  One of which is Kimukatsu.  The only restaurant in the world that offers a 25 layer of Mille-feuille katsu in multiple flavors.

I got curious with the technique they use in their dishes so i decided to see what the fuss is all about.  Went to their branch in Century City,  ordered the black pepper variant.

The set comes with soup,  rice and shredded cabbage,  similar to the other Katsu joints.  I am not a Katsu expert,  i skipped the part wherein you have to grind the sesame seeds for the sauce.  Frankly speaking,  you dont need the sauce because the 25 layers of pork cutlet laced with black pepper is enough.  Saying it's delicious would be  injustice or even offensive.  I think it is best to say that it is delicious in all the spoken languages in existence.  The meat is tender and moist,  oozing with black pepper goodness,  the crust is finely done.  Each crunchy bite delivers katsu euphoria.  I didnt mind the other customers weirded out by my goofy smile while i was eating.

Drop whatever it is that you're doing, head on to Kimukatsu for some world-class katsu experience.

Great Japanese themed restaurant. Service is good and crew was attentive. Food is great too. The thing that separates this resto from other katsu restaurants is that their meat consists of 25 layers of thinly sliced meat that's why it was so moist and juicy. Kinda pricey but it's fine by me!

I had just gone to Kimukatsu (again) a few days ago, and I decided to scroll through my reviews, only to realize that I hadn't written about my May experience!!!

So here is my overdue piece...

In May, they added three new dishes to the menu - katsu pieces with toppings. It looked enticing so I decided to try one out - the one with pesto toppings (see photo). The moment the order came in, I could distinctly smell it. It smelled like pasta, or well the pesto part did.

It was an interesting food experience, having the topping instead of tonkatsu sauce. Also, the pork "laman" is fashioned differently than the normal loin.

Honestly though, it was good, but not something I would immediately go for again. I prefer my usual simple pork loin. Why? Because the katsu topping dishes are one - more expensive, and two - it's like having katsu but it smells like pasta. I personally believe that if you want pasta, you go for pasta; it you want katsu, you go for katsu.

Service-wise, the experience was better than before, servers are a bit more attentive. They gladly refilled my soup (get red!) and my water whenever I looked to need it.

I think I found what to order when dining in a katsu place. (Or I was just hungry)

I've tried a couple of katsu places and my taste buds was always left unsatisfied.

25 layered katsu with spring onions plus the typical items when ordering a katsu set. It was good. I would go back for it.

Funny story--had to go up and down Century City Mall before finding this place. Confused it with Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen, because the two restos were beside each other and looked like one restaurant from the outside.

Anywaaay, as I entered the resto, my first reaction is that I love the look and feel of the place. Very classy, quiet, slightly dim, not too much people. My companion noticed a very interesting detail--I was given a black colored menu and was served a black plate for my cabbage, while she was given a white colored menu and a white plate. Found out after research that the place is yin and yang themed--a Chinese philosophy in a Japanese resto, interestingly, works.

There were also so many options of sauce--forgot the exact names but there's the usual tonkatsu sauce, ponzu which is a nice-tasting vinegar, a spicy oil sauce, a calamansi sauce, then two types of sauce for the unli cabbage. Out of these 6 though, I only used 2.

I ordered the Chicken Katsu Set. It was okay, just the right size, a solid chicken breast with no trace of fat. Unfortunately, it tasted a bit bland. Again, it's not nice to compare, but I prefer Ginza Bairin's Chicken Katsu set--which is also cheaper.

Worth coming back to because of the ambiance and service. Will probably try a different katsu set next time, which would hopefully merit 4 or even 5 stars 128522

I'm not a fan of katsu (or anything fried) but this place is love!! Everything we ordered tasted really good. Big plus is that shredded cabbage side, ze kids devoured this because of the tasty yuzu sauce! I'm all for restos that can make kids eat veggies 128522

Good enough to try!

I liked their concept of different flavors of Katsu. I was only able to try the cheese Katsu and I liked it. I wish to come back next time to try the other flavors.

I didn't give the perfect score because Yabu still takes the crown for best Katsu place.

I'm on a semi-quest to discover the best tonkatsu places in the Philippines. Or so I'm telling myself, because I just love tonkatsu so darn much.

Kimukatsu is a not-so hidden place in Century City Mall. You would almost think the place was closed because when I was here, there were barely any people - quiet atmosphere, very few customers.

Prices here look affordable considering it's at a high-end mall.

Unlike other noisy restaurants, Kimukatsu is quiet. The layout of the place makes some areas feel much more private and intimate. The design really feels very Japanese.

I ordered the Rosu Pork katsu set. As with other katsu places, you get unlimited rice, soup, and cabbage. Kimukatsu has a different texture to their cabbage, as it's whiter, and thinner. The taste is not bad, just a little more subtle than its green counterpart. Rice here is served in a small Japanese container, which I really like, feels so authentic! For the katsu, I can say it feel on par with Yabu and Saboten, with great-tasting meat and a lovely panko bread crusting. I love the texture of their sticky rice, and I also like how they give you two choices for the miso soup flavor.

For drinks, no bottomless drinks, but I really liked how their iced tea is the Nestea flavored one.

In terms of service, I feel this place could use a bit of an improvement. Service was not bad, mind you, just a little slow.

I was with a friend, and for 2 (different) orders, we didn't even reach P1000, which is to say it's not soo very expensive, but a nice place to treat yourself to once in a while.

Oh, they play animé music here; I recognized a couple of the songs they were playing.

Because I was craving for tonkatsu 128521 i had their Negi shio kimukatsu set (spring onion), and I should say that I like garlic better 128539 maybe they could have used leeks instead? I could barely taste the flavor of the onion. However, the meat was good as expected-not salty nor overly seasoned. Service was also great 128077
