Kitayama offers affordable Wagyu steak for carnivores like my wife and I. Owned by the family that owns the Ramcar group (Motolite, KFC, Mister Donut, etc). I got to try it yesterday courtesy of my friend who's been a regular here for years. It's across Little Tokyo / Makati Cinema Square. There's parking to maybe 3 cars and it's beside the Makati branch of Motolite.
Entering, there's a big dining table in the center but I don't think they cook here. It's essentially a meat shop to buy affordable Wagyu. According to my friend, they brought the cows from Japan and bred them subsequently here.
My wife and I went here with my friend yesterday coz he bought some steak. They sell different cuts like Chuck roll, Porter house, Ribeye, Prime Rib, T Bone, Sirloin and Strip loin (aka NY Steak). Some are cheaper when Grade 1 to 4 (grade, meaning marbling or amount of fat content) and others are pricier when Grade 5 and up.
We settled for the Porterhouse, a combination of tenderloin and striploin, for P1,200 per kilo. It was Grade 1 to 4. We didn't want to invest in the Ribeye yet. But for the porterhouse's part tenderloin, this was a good price. Ribeye grade 5 to 8 was above 3k per kilo. We ordered two one inch cuts and had one cooked at home.
Just salt and pepper, sear one side about 2 to 3 minutes at high heat, and you're good to go. Meat was tender though a small part was somewhat rubbery but only a small small part.
The chef there gave us good tips and didn't hard sell us on the expensive cuts. Each cut has its own merit, so to speak.
They also sell a decent salted egg potato chips (P200 only, cheaper but comparable in taste to HOC) and chimichurri (P300 per big bottle) plus a local chocolate brand, Risa (I tried their pastillas with pili, and it was good, P100 for a decent bar) among those consigned. They also sell frozen Wagyu Corned Beef, tapa, etc. You should be done here in 30 minutes or less. Good find for us. And they were open on a Sunday (till 4pm only).

Went to Kitayama with high hopes of being able to dine in and try out their steaks, but unfortunately they don't cook for walk ins. But they said they accept private catering! Place looks elegant and really nice for private dinners They have a wide range of steaks from T bone to Ribeye. From grade 4 to grade 7 quality.
We bought their grade 4 striploin steak for Php 1,800/kg . That was 4 medium sized-1 inch thick cuts. Brought it home, seasoned it with salt and pepper then grilled each on a griddle for about 3 minutes on each side for medium doneness. The moment the steak was placed on the hot griddle, i really had a good feeling that it was gonna be a tasty one just by the smell! By looking at the picture, you'll pretty much know how good it will taste like! ️️️️️ 5 star quality and that's just grade 4! Too lazy to pop open a bottle of wine so went for beer instead. Haha! I would definitley recommend this if you plan to impress whoever is coming over your house for dinner.. or lunch! Best paired with potatoes. Either mashed or just simply boiled chopped and seasoned.
