Did you know that a small restaurant located near the Marikina Public Market offers good and affordable Thai Food?  I am talking about Krung Thai.  I stumbled upon this hidden gem a couple of years back.

KT is the quintessential hole-in-the-wall joint,  no fancy decor,  simple interiors and good food.

This is our go-to joint whenever we are craving for some stir-fry noodles.  Apart from their awesome pad thai,  they also offer delicious and affordable rice meals.  Their Bagoong Rice is one of my favourites,  i always ditch my diet because of this baby.

Bagoong Rice (Php 169).   Rice infused with fish paste,  Thai mango salad and pork.   What i love about this dish is it's simplicity.  Albeit it's simplicity,  it delivers on the flavor department.  The rice is is cooked and seasoned well,  the pork is tender and has the right amount of flavor and the mango salad is refreshing.  It is perfect symphony of flavors.   Sometimes,  simple is better.

If you want to experience no-frills, straightforward,  delicious Thai Food,  head on over to Krung Thai.

128204Pad Thai Special P229 - generous amount of noodles, 2pc. med shrimps with pork or chicken?, greens, bean sprouts, good for 2-3. Taste was perfect without putting anything like red pepper flakes or peanuts. 128076🏼

I really love their food here. It's not really cheap though. Oh and I've noticed that the shrimps they put are now smaller. ☹

The tom yum was really good. Other dishes like the bagoong rice, spring rolls, and curry were also a delight to eat. The owner of the restaurant was very friendly and accommodating to us. I loved everything about this restaurant!

I brought my cousins here a few months ago and until today, they blame me because they can't get over the tom yum soup. So whenever we crave for authentic Thai food, we go to Krung Thai. Yesterday (which I think was my 5th visit), we ordered of course, tom yum soup, which as always was heavenly. We also had chicken satay, green papaya salad, beef curry, and bagoong rice. We also never failed to order pad thai. Everything tasted good. For the pad thai though, each time we go here and order it, it tasted slightly different. There was one time that it was dry and lacked some flavor. Yesterday, it was too sweet. Could've given a 5 if the pad thai was consistent. But over all, Krung Thai has never failed to make us happy, satisfied and full!

Pad Thai is a stir-fried noodle dish that is commonly served as street food at Thailand.

Pad Thai dreams came into fruition today.  Good thing,  the rain stopped and i no longer have aching joints.  Krung Thai is a small restaurant tucked within the busy streets of Marikina.  This is our go-to place when we want to consume massive amounts of carbohydrates.  All of the disappointment brought by the horrible dish i ate at Banana Leaf was forgotten right after the first bite.

Did someone say carbs???

Crabmeat Fried Rice (php 99.00) -  A visit at Krung is never complete without this.  He likes crabmeat,  add rice to it and we got ourselves a deal.  This can be eaten alone as it is packed with flavor.  The rice they used is of fine quality, Thai Jasmine rice i assume.

Shrimp Fried Rice (php 99.00) - Three shrimps.  Yes,  not one,  not two but three.  Unlike the other joints who skimp on the ingredients. Flavorful and can satiate any carb cravings.

Regular Pad Thai (php 189.00) - This is the highlight of my week.  The best pad thai I've ever tasted.  No frills,  authentic stir-fried noodles.  Noodles are cooked well,  chicken strips,  bean sprouts,  scrambled eggs and shredded peanuts.  You can taste the rich peanut sauce on each spoonful. Best eaten with a sprinkle of chili flakes.  And they use calamansi as a substitute for the lime.  A lil bit of Filipino flare to a Thai favorite.  And the serving is good for three people.  Good food,  affordable price.  No one else comes close.

Thai Milk Tea (php 99.00) - Just how i like my milk tea.  Hints of jasmine over subtle milk flavor.  Sampaguita juice anyone?  128512

Krung never disappoints.  They live up to their promise to deliver Authentic Thai Food.

Best bang for the buck thai restaurant! Delicious curry and seafood rice and an order can be shared by 2. Cheap priced dishes too. Tucked in the vicinity of the Marikina Public market, you won't miss it since it's located at the corner of a busy intersection.

Finally found a place to get authentic Thai food!

We got the crab curry, pad thai, tom yum kung and catfish salad. Wasn't a fan of the pad thai though as it felt lacking in the maasim area. But that was probably just because I didn't season it properly.

I loooooved the catfish salad though! It was the right amount of crunch and sourness.

Both the crab curry and the tom yum kung could've been more spicy but I guess they had to adjust to the Filipino palate.

Take note that this place is tiny though, we had to wait a while before we could get a table. The waiters also weren't that attentive but you can't really blame them as this place is always busy.

For authentic Thai cuisine within Marikina, this is a resto to visit!

Their Pad Thai tasted really good, extra good with loads of calamansi on the side. We also got the Krung Thai Fried Chicken which is really crispy and tender, best paired with their sweet and sour sauce. Their Green Mango Salad is also a good appetizer.

The very sad experience here is that their service is really really really slow. :( We went there today, Father's Day, and we waited for almost an hour and a half. We placed our orders while waiting but then when we were already given a table, we waited for another hour for 3 orders to be served. We cancelled some of our orders because we can't afford to wait anymore. :(

Thai Milk Tea.

And the pad thai is just right!

Also, juicy chicken.

The place is a bit small and you will have to wait. But they take your orders while waiting and you get your orders right away after you are seated.

My 7th visit was probably the least favorite visit. Because I wanted to try everything on their menu every visit, it took a toll on me.

Worth Ordering:
1) Shrimp Fried Rice P99 127775127775127775127775127775 - flavourful, 3 big shrimps! #MustTry

2) Thai Iced Coffee P89 11088110881108811088️ - instead of my usual Thai Iced Tea, this is my second option. Not your usual Coffee from Starbucks or from your favorite coffee shop, this has carnation milk to make it creamy. Ok for me!

Medyo Dissapointed:

3) Crispy Liempo P339 110881108811088️ - it was so good but for the price serving was a just a plateful. dissapointed with the pricing. Mag Andok's or Baliwag ka na lang for less than the price. Filipino ang lasa kaya walang hint ng anything Thai.

4) Pork Noodle Soup P99 1108811088️ - my least favorite of the three available noodle soup. 1) Beef Noodles 128077 2) Chicken Noodle Soup 128077 3) Pork Noodle Soup 🆗 - broth wasnt flavourful, noodles were generous enough but toppings were tasteless.

5) Thai Bagoong Rice Meal (w/ adobo and mango salad) P159 11088

They served this not warm, egg not warm, bagoong rice not warm, dont like their sweet adobo again not warm, the only good here was the green mango salad - refreshing. Pinalitan naman nila yung set pero mas nainggit ako sa SHIMP FRIED RICE nung friend ko, alam ko gano kasarap e naka dalawang order nga sya while me nasad sa mga failed orders ko.

6) BBQ Liempo P339 1108811088
again we also ordered another liempo one crispy and the bbq liempo, this is just ok waste of your bucks again just buy at Andok's or Baliwag. No Thai flavour.

7) Kangkong with Pork 110881108811088
No thai flavour

Tummy full but tastebuds not happy!

From now on will order my usuals and will no longer experiment.

MUST TRY: Pad Thai Special, Shrimp fried Rice, Beef or Chicken Noodle Soup, Thai Iced Milk Tea or Thai iced Coffee, Tom Yum Seaafood
