Known more for bulalo, Kusina El Mare is a fast dine restaurant at San Pablo City. Located adjacent SM San Pablo along the Maharlika Highway, Cucina El Mare can easily be spotted with its big signage.

Known for great bulalo, Kusina El Mare also has a wide assortment of lutong bahay Filipino delicacies. These include halabos na hipon with matching suka and paminta, kare-kare (with uber soft beef, fresh veggies and addicting bagoong alamang). My favorite among the quick orders is their crispy daing na biya, also served with suka and onions (in the photo). They do serve sabaw ng bulalo with your orders, which is just as great as their bulalo.

Prices are quite okay (total of P570 for three meals with rice and drinks) but we were expecting less. The place may have had its glory days but already needs freshening up - seat upholstery needs repairing, ceiling and walls need some repainting. Air conditioning is adequately cool on a hot summer day. Waiters, though very attentive, we're cuddled up watching a noontime show perhaps because we were the only customers at that time. Parang nasa bahay lang.

Overall, the food is really good and served really fast (canteen style where you can choose cooked food from their counter). Just gave one star less due to the homey ambiance. I would probably give a 5-star rating kung hindi naka-uniform yung mga waiter. 128540
