Had dinner here with the team and some friends. The restaurant is at a converted residence and tries to provide a full French ambiance. Since we were a large group, we got one of the private rooms to enjoy our dinner.

Had nicoise salad and duck confit (PhP550!) for dinner. The salad was a bit of a surprise as I was expecting tuna instead of anchovies, and I didn't like the way the anchovies were prepared.

The duck confit lacked flavor as I was expecting some duck fat on the dish. Their twist of this dish left it a bit dry and needs a bit of seasoning.

Overall, it was Ok, but not enough for me to rave about.

Eclectic? Maybe more kitsch. The staff were wearing these electronic nameplates declaring their names. The didn't seem to sit well at first but somehow it actually became one with the overall look of the place. The food is good. They took carbonara to great heights (este tastes). The duck confit was very tender and tasty. I believe because the duck is supposed to be cured in salt, it should be salty but it was a bit to salty for me which probably is a matter of preference. The caramel flan (which was free by the way care of BPI 128522) was actually not sweet to the point of being bland - that was really nice. And the servers were very attentive. Would definitely go back to the Pink House. 128515

Good ambiance for a lovely date. 128151 Superb complimentary appetizer set of bread with cheese and tomato, pumpkin soup shot, and flaky sesame bread. Yum! The black pepper steak and pesto that we ordered were very flavorful, and serving size was adequate. Servers were friendly and pleasant. Really cool that they put their menu in iPads - very interactive.

I found it weird that there were a lot of Chinese decors all over the place, when it's supposed to be a French restaurant. Also, they don't make you taste the wine first before you order.

Everything tastes divine. Their Black Pepper Steak, Cheese Soufflé, Sea Bass, Home made Sausage and Duck are killers. Their iced tea and lemonade aren't bad either.

Voted by Esquire Philippines magazine as one of the best restaurants this French restaurant is a must try in the island. An old house that' was converted into a restaurant details of the interiors up to the food were meticulously chosen. They also have a bakery within the compound that serves freshly baked bread not to mention one of the best tasting croissant . Must try for Cebu visitors .

This pink resto may look a bit mundane from the outside but its interior is very romantic. Interestingly, they use an iPad for the menu. The food definitely gives justice to the place. Must-visit when you're in Cebu! 12807712786012813910084

The restaurant decor was sort of quirky. They had Chinese/Oriental decor but serve French cuisine. Whats up with that? The walls were painted a horrible shade of green which was really depressing. The ambiance was very disconcerting. It seems there is a French school on the second floor. Students were coming up and down the stairs and milling around the restaurant, which makes for a really lousy dining experience.

Service was fine. The menu was on an iPad which was cool. The waitress was very accommodating but was obviously overworked since she was the only waitress available during lunch hours.

The food however was not very good. The escargot was so-so. I don't recommend the wild boar pâté. It was too chunky with little flavor. The Duck confit was fairly good though the portion was quite small. The Black Pepper Steak was horribly overcooked. I asked for "medium" but was served "well done". It was dry, tough, and very chewy. The sauce helped a little bit, but the chef should learn the difference between medium and well done. Their dessert saved this review from being totally bad. Their version of Choco-lava cake was quite good, along with the banana flambé, which was also good.

La Maison Rose. The Pink House. This is a fancy French place along Gorordo Ave. in Cebu.

The interiors are adorable. Crystal chandeliers, embroidered linen, pop art, and random stuff scattered around the house.

The servers were nice and friendly. They handed us iPad menus after we sat down. This is the first time I've encountered it and it's kind of cool.

The two specialties of the house are the black pepper steak and duck confit. I ordered the steak. It's pretty cheap at P350-ish. I was taken aback by its price. Either it's really tiny or not so good. I found out it was the latter.

I wanted my steak medium. It also came with purée (mashed potatoes). When my steak was served, it looked like it was medium well to well done. And it just tasted okay.

I also ordered dessert. Its name evades me, but it's yummy. It's like a cream puff with vanilla cream inside.

I enjoyed Cebu lechon more than I did La Maison Rose's steak. Maybe I should've tried another dish that night.

Our friend recommended it to us so we gave it a shot.

Oh dear.

We arrived at the place at around 7:30p. Place wasn't packed.

The place itself is worth rating 5 stars. It has a fancy, old Filipino interior. The weird thing about is that this place serves French food. So yeah, I like the redundancy there. 128541

Our server had a weird accent. She was very fluent in english BUT had a strong french accent. I was like "Wtf? You're a Cebuana and Filipina. You shouldn't be doing that." The other servers were speaking "normal" english. One of them even spoke in their own dialect.

As for the food, I ordered their Black Pepper Steak - medium well. It was paired with potato wedges and black pepper sauce to spice it up (duh). When I had my first bite, the moon turned pink. It wasn't right.

The meat wasn't tender enough. It was like chewing a frozen gum.

I poured the black pepper sauce but it didn't help. It was still disgusting.

I then tried the potato wedges. It was nothing special.

To tell you honestly, it's probaby the worst steak I've ever tasted.

I quickly told the server (server?) to serve my dessert. I ordered their Chocolate au ______. That black, awesome thing saved them from getting 2 stars from me.

Also, I had to ask for my glass of water twice. Wth's wrong with asking for water in Cebu anyway?!

So why 3 stars? The place looks really good. Fancy decor. Being there is like being in a totally different environment.

I'd say it's still a must try in Cebu. I haven't tried their other meals. But this specific experience was just okay.

Very romantic ambiance. Very good service. Their menu was on a tablet!128561 You just browse your orders with pictures, then you select and/ or add orders. That was impressive, never seen any restaurant having their menus on a tablet before. Sadly food wasn't that great, was totally disappointed!128544
