Our family's go to Spanish restaurant the past 20+years. As such you know that your Spanish food favorites will always taste consistently good. Tonight we had the Gambas ala Plancha for appetizer and Lapu Lapu ala Donostiarra con Patatas Panaderas and Solomillo ala Pobre for our main dish. If your looking for simple good traditional Spanish food this is the place. Highly recommended!

Late review, we dine here late last year, i just remember this place coz i had paella earlier. Ive noticed that this place was not popular in terms of reviews but deserve to be mention among the top paellas in metro manila.

This was introduced to me by my officemates, one of them who live near this area has been raving about how good the food is here so we decided to have dinner here after work. One of my officemates whos a puerto rican decide to tag along, hmmm... so we have a someone who knows what to look for in a paella.

This place is just across alba 128521. A well known spanish resto. Looks like a faceoff.128515 what i like it here is the ample parking spaces, quite uncommon for restos near burgos or makati ave. The ambiance inside is a classic, we order several tapas and ensaladas. Of course we order their paellas, i remember we had 3 variants of paella. I like the seafood one. But all of them are really good, my puerto rican officemate agrees that its "as authentic as it can get", enough to get him 'ola ola' everyone.

We regret that we didnt order their lechon de leche which has to be ordered in advance. They also has a mini store at its side that sells spanish products, i saw some paella ingredients. And by the way, i remember i had bottomless sangria, it was just ok not the best sangria ive tasted.

This place is ideal for 3 or more people in a group, excellent place for family lunch or dinner, just be careful not to drive straight to the red light street. 128521

The last. Remaining. Shrimp.

Such a small serving but SUPER GREAT flavor! Yummm. Other than this appetizer, there was paella negra and the salpicado. Both veryyyy yummy in their own way!

This place is where you would want to go on a date! Orrr simply have a family celebration! Whatever the occasion, the food is filled with passion! (Rhyming! 128076)

But seriously. The food here is great! Not one dish was disappointing :)

Comemos a la tienda! Nos vemos!

Whenever I passed by Makati's red light district on my way home from my intern job, I would always, always see scantily clad escorts towering over the rush hour crowd in their five-inch stilettos, their pouts hard and inviting, waiting on one corner for their next customer. This part of Makati was bathed in neon lights and the promise of sex in the evening. You wouldn't bring your mother or your date near this place.

Little did I know that working a stone's throw away from this area years later would reveal some of Makati's hidden gems in the restaurant scene. One of them is La Tienda, a small, rustic Spanish restaurant in front of a tattoo parlor, a few paces away from what I know to be the city's only biker bar.

The interior reminded me of Alba's--dark wood fixtures, bold pops of color, Spanish wine strewn all over the place, assorted meat cuts and cheese on display. It was unquestionably Spanish from the decor alone.

My date and I took a chance on their two business lunch sets, each a 3-course meal with an appetizer, an entree, and soup or dessert depending on which one you order. Each set set us (meaning he) back around P500.

I had pumpkin soup (lovely and authentic), the house salad (well-balanced), and fish, being Friday (basically fish and chips, without the chips, still good). My friend, on the other hand, had a sampler appetizer plate on the first leg of the meal; it came with two fried cheese balls (delicious and creamy, more of this por favor), two pieces of shrimp (no comment), and sausage or chorizo, which we didn't touch (hola, Lent). His lapu-lapu and clams were swimming in this wonderful sauce with peas and oh, I wish I knew the name of this dish because I wanted to order rice and just dump it in the sauce and let my belt pop loose and be happy. Dessert was ice cream, nothing special.

The food was good across the board. The service...not so much. It was so slow. Us and four other tables were the meager lunch crowd. They didn't look short on staff either, but it's possible they were working with one cook during our visit. I'm used to the time between courses being shorter, but given the modest serving size of each dish, at the end I felt full and satiated. Getting the bill was another test of patience. The staff took their lovely time with that one. Is that part of the Spanish experience? Being so close to siesta time, everyone had to slow down to keep things real? 128533 Un poco mas rapido next time, amigos, por favor?

Despite those hiccups, the food was worth the visit. It might be more of an evening meal/date kind of place, but as far as Makati's outlying Spanish cuisine spots goes, this one's definitely on my radar now. 128131

One would be pleasantly surprised in finding out that just around the red light district area of makati lies a myriad of foodie hot spots. La Tienda is one of them.

Interior is reminiscent of then-fancy family dining restaurants of the 90s. Read: old school.

Food is another story. La Tienda has got to be one of the best paella joint (and so much more) in the city! 128525

We ordered the ff:
Lengua- generous cuts of tender lengua in delicate gravy sauce. It melts in your mouth 128538

Callos- I'm not a fan of callos so much but after having La Tienda's version of this dish, I'm now a convert. Just one comment though, more tripe would've been a lot better. But delicious nonetheless. 9786

Paella Negra- the best negra I've had. 'Nuf said. 128076128076128076

Paella Valenciana - seafood fiesta in a paella plate 128077

Their wine list is good too!

Perfect chill dining place for family and friends. Lalalove the fact that it's sorta hidden too!
A must try for foodies 128521

It's a Spanish style restaurant hiding next to the famous Purgos street. You can find some delicate Paellas, Carnes, Pescado and Traditional Filipino Tapas here. The customers are mostly foreigners. The mood is good in here, so does the service and of course, the food.

La Tienda is an old favorite
Sadly, however, the busier it is the poorer the food and service
A typical Spanish menu the Tapas are usually excellent
Today: indifferent
So my suggestion lots of cars outside = search for another eatery
