Just can’t let myself not try this especially when everyone is saying that is really good. I am a fan of Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory’s cow cow since I love the yummy combination of milk and cheese but as mentioned, a lot are saying that Lava’s version is SO MUCH BETTER. 🤔
I tried the soft serve ice cream (85php). After taking photos, tasted it right away and... it was SUPER CHEESY. Cheese kung cheese. Legit!! 🧀🧀🧀
If you like all things cheesy, this is the ice cream for you. Kind of remind me of the keso flavored dirty ice cream but of course, this is the PREMIUM SOSYAL VERSION. 🤗
Do I like this better than cow cow? Hmm, nope. 🤫 Well, this was good. Really cheesy. But I guess I like milky more than cheesy. 🤗

Entering one of the branches of the proudly locally-made LAVA cheese tarts can be quite an experience. This location is near the supermarket and could just greet you with its smell if you come from the basement parking area.
The main star of the show is, of course, their delectable cheese tarts. Passersby take a glance or two at the open glass displays of the minicircles of goodness. With all the craze on imported dessert, concepts, Lave deserves your attention as well.
What’s amazing about their cheese tarts is they are 100% sourced and made in the Philippines and that includes the cheese. The owners take globalization on another breadth, with the inspiration in bringing this savory dessert to our palates. Behind this stall is the same team behind Bibingkinitan, another Filipino favorite brought to an everyday casual setting.
Tasting the tart itself is rather fun. The tart obediently keeps it shape as you take a bite, with a very gooey center giving away into a slow flow of cheese. It’s very much alike to the flow of lava from the crater, hence its name. Better take another bite fast before the cheese escapes you.
Lava has gratuitously provided us with a flavor bar, displaying toppings on toppings we can put on the tarts. You name it! Knock yourself out with the combinations of nuts, fruit jams, crushed biscuits, and chocolates.
Since cheese is the main ammo here, don’t miss it in their soft serve as well. This was I could say, is an acquired taste. Once having it, you may take a moment to wrap your taste buds around the curious taste since it definitely has some gorgonzola in it. It’s like a perfect marriage of salty and sweet, with a ripe aftertaste and a creamy undertone. You may add toppings to bring some more interest to it. Whichever floats your boat. But it definitely is a treat for sure.
If you haven’t already visited, it’s high time you come over to enjoy some Filipino craftsmanship brought out to the world and back. See you!

I've been a big fan of LAVA since it opened in SM Aura. Its delectable cheese tarts are amazing. And I feel great supporting a local brand using local products. I've heard news though that Lava launched a new line and I just have to try it myself!
Hello again, LAVA Cheese Tarts.
I've been busy with work lately that I hardly get to visit malls. But an opportunity to drop by Uptown Mall came one day and I decided to swing by LAVA before attending an event. Luckily, this LAVA branch offers its newest product, Lava Eruptions Premium Cheese Ice Cream (PHP85, cone | PHP135, cup with three toppings of your choice).
I decided to go with waffle cone as it makes me feel that I get my money's worth. But I failed to consider that it was so hot lately that my ice cream began to melt in less than 30 seconds!
I hurriedly went up to the 4th floor open area to take nice photos but the ice cream was in terrible shape by then (hence not being in this blog).
Taste-wise, it was pretty good. It had that cheese taste that I like though not as pronounced as the one you'd get from the cheese tarts. I guess the milk somehow masked the sharp taste of cheese. I also recommend that you indulge in this treat in a cone as it could get really messy.
I'll definitely go back and try it with toppings next time.

If I had to eat here for the rest of my life, I'd be the cheesiest person alive. Quite literally, since all they have are tarts and ice cream that are made from 4 different cheeses from the Philippines and Europe.
For the first time, I tried their ice cream. You can order a plain one served in a cone (PhP85) or in a cup with 3 mix-ins (PhP135). I had the one in a cup and for the mix-ins, I had pink salt & sugar, mango, and raisins. I suggested they decrease the amount of pink salt as it could be too overwhelming but overall, I liked it. 🧀🧀🧀

I have mixed feelings about cheese. Some i like, some i don't. But when cheese is incorporated in ice cream - it is an entirely different ball game. Why the cheese talk, you ask? One word. Lava.
In case you haven't heard, Lava is now offering Cheese Soft Serve Ice Cream! 🧀.
One cone is priced at Php 85. You get a beautiful swirl of soft serve cheese ice cream on a waffle cone. I can tell that the consistency is to the nines while i was watching ze crew is dispensing the ice cream. And boy, i was right! Man, it is a wonderful mixture of rich and smooth. Rich in a sense that it is not airy, smooth in a sense that it glides beautifully when you scoop em.
Taste. Nothing but cheese-amazing! Carabao milk mixed with different types of cheese. I taste a little Gorgonzola, some cheese with a semi-salty profile and other awesome cheese made of pure awesomeness.

Can't resist when I saw Lava last night. I JUST HAVE TO try their soft serve without the mix-ins!
For 85Php, this is really sulit! Cheapest good quality soft serve in the market! So, the pure form without mix-ins is the way to go if you wanna try this for the first time. Just enjoy the the richness and thickness of the soft serve, feel the smoothness! It's addicting! The cheese flavor was not overwhelming, just right I would say. With a hint of gorgonzola, the mix of 4 cheeses in a Carabao milk base is the ultimate OH EM CHEESE!

Lava's Uptown branch features a soft serve Cheese Ice Cream, inspired by the great cheese tart of Lava. For P85 you get a waffle cone, or P135 for cup plus 3 toppings. So far this is the only Lava branch among their 4 branches that serves Lava Cheese ice cream.
I chose the cup, with blue cheese, Lava tart pieces, and Lotus Biscoff cookie bits. They mix the ingredients up. I liked it a lot. Subtle cheese flavor, and I liked how my chosen toppings mixed well. Yummy! 1/2
We ordered also their new Lava tart, and 3rd ever tart (after original and honey & Gorgonzola), Prosciutto and Melon. Let's see if it's good... (the original is one you can't go wrong with already. The honey and Gorgonzola isn't for everyone, so this cheese tart with a Prosciutto ham inside and a melon gelatin at the base. Interesting...

I was in Uptown on a Friday night when I suddenly remembered the Lava Soft Serve Cheese Ice Cream that Chili G recommended. Immediately looked for Lava and went on to order. I was planning to get a Cheese Tart too bec. of Gorgonzola and Honey but since this was just a take out store, it will be too messy to eat - I like mine with LOTS of honey!
One order of cheese ice cream for 85Php. The ate asked me to choose 3 toppings - 1 sauce + 2 crunchies. I was a little confused since I just wanted the plain one but if the toppings were included, why not! I chose Dulce de Leche, walnuts and pink salt (without brown sugar bec. it's supposed to be brown sugar + pink salt). Then when I was paying, I was surprised that my total was 135Php!
Anyhow, the Cheese Ice Cream was good! Made up of 4 artisanal cheeses and carabao milk, I was intrigued. Not sure if the saltiness that I liked was because of the pink salt though but the ice cream was thick and creamy with a sharp cheese flavor, probably from gorgonzola. The dulce de leche gave it a really sweet finish so I must try it again without any mixins.
Warning: melts quickly.

Going up to shaburi, I saw that lava had a kiosk so we decided we'd have that for dessert later on. After a short walk and digesting our dinner, headed back to the kiosk to check out Lava. Noticed then too that they had premium soft serve ice cream! Hubby loves ice cream and he couldn't pass it up (even though he's lactose intolerant ) I think it's ₱95 for the cone and ₱125 with three mix ins. We chose biscoff, Cheesecake bits and walnuts.
SOOO GOOODDD!!! the ice cream had just the right consistency and saltiness. The walnuts were nice and fresh so it added the perfect 'crunch' to the ice cream.
Was also able to finally try the honey and gorgonzola tart, loved it! It's the perfect mix of sweet and Salty
Pls pls open a branch farther south!

How new is this?! Oh I just had to try it.
PREMIUM CHEESE SOFT SERVE ICE CREAM
85. Premium thick and creamy cheese ice cream using 4 different cheeses.
I love Lava. When we did a side by side taste test with the leading cheese tarts, these were undoubtedly the winner. They seem to have improved their flavor too since they first opened.
So of course seeing cheese ice cream got me curious. It had a hint of blue cheese, like how Gorgonzola tastes. Can't tell what the other cheeses are. Not too overpowering. Could use a little more cheese for me but ok na din. The ice cream was indeed soft and creamy. It was smooth and not icy.
I'm not sure if everyone can taste the difference with the super affordable McDo ice cream, but I certainly could. Texture, consistency and flavor were both different. Being right across McDonalds, I tried my daughters vanilla cone and Lava is more superior to what Mickey D's has to offer. If you can't tell, just visit the clown and maybe not complain how expensive this is.
Wish it had more ice cream in the cone like in the photo. Bulungan ko na lang yung ice cream twirler next time. Definitely coming back for this.
I was told Pablo's also tastes good. I'll be trying that soon.
