The price for my upper lip and underarm wax were super cheap compared to getting it done at either David's or Aura -- both along Katipunan and not so good experience for me.

It was only Php220 for both! Just the underarm wax at the salons I mentioned would have cost me at least Php300 plus tip to the attendant. And, it only took a total of 15 minutes! Galing!

Look for Rowie. She has a nice disposition and is sensible to speak with. Explains the process and what care to do after wax.

The only thing is, when you enter the salon, nagchichismisan mga staff. Not so nice to see as a customer. Baka they should allocate space for staff waiting area and they can be called when service is needed. Also, they almost forgot to make me sign the waiver. Finally, they also use cold wax. New to me as I am accustomed to hot honey wax but it is effective. A bit more shocking for your pores, I think. I still prefer hot honey wax. Leaves my skin feeling like a baby's skin instead of sore and shocked because of cold wax.

The interiors and space and room for waxing at this Lay Bare outlet was good, comfortable, well ventilated and well lit. There was enough room to move in each customer wax room with signages to remind customers and attendants alike of rules within each waxing room. Cool.

Should've taken a photo of the waxing room but only had time to take a shot from the waiting area...

I usually go to the branch adjacent to Mcdonald's but as I did my law review around the area, I got to discover this other branch which is more spacious and not so crowded. Within 10 mins, I got my service without even tearing! Ate Jaq was really careful and attentive to my skin and I really love the result! :]

My go-to place for my eyebrow and upper-lip threading! Although the results were inconsistent due to the various technicians, the service is really great considering that you only have to shell out 110 bucks.

ARAAAAAAAY! MASAKEEEEEEET!!!!

I was trying my darnedest not to scream out loud when I had my legs and my stomach waxed (yes, I have my stomach waxed sometimes. Don't you? LOL).

ANYWAY. It's been awhile since I had cold wax done. I used to be an advocate of cold wax (a long, long time ago), because it didn't have that "shock" factor as with hot wax. When I tried it all those years ago, it just felt like they were massaging my skin. However, since I became busier and busier with work, I didn't have the luxury to lie (lay?) on a waxing bed for an hour anymore.

I have since switched my loyalty to Strip's hot wax because it's quick (15 minutes tops!) and not as painful as regular hot wax. Cold wax takes too long, since they use a small piece of wax on about a square-inch of skin at a time.

Ironically, I've been too busy this week to go get a 15-minute wax at Strip, so I had to squeeze in a trip to Lay Bare on my way home to the North this weekend.

I was in for the shock of my life! I don't remember it to be this painful! It was about 30 minutes of excruciating pain. 128557

You see, the way it works is that they push the small pieces of cold, gummy wax across your skin, then pull it back. Kinda like a kneading action. So aside from the pain of the pressure, there's also the pain from the scraping, and the pain from the actual pulling of hair. 128556

I think it was also the way the waxing technician put pressure on my skin. There were 2 of them working on me: one for my legs and one for my stomach. The girl waxing my stomach was pressing too hard! I was squirming in pain! I didn't know that there were so many nerve endings in the stomach area!!!

Whenever I would get waxed, I would amuse myself by playing Candy Crush on my iPad. Ganun kataas pain tolerance ko. But for this particular waxing trip, I couldn't concentrate on the candy! 128555

I guess it's not fair to be rating a place based on my personal pain (emotional reviewing? Hahaha). The place was clean and the staff were friendly naman. Plus the services are way cheaper than hot wax! At Strip, my bill would've been 2k + already. I only paid 800 + here.

But still, I don't think cold wax is for me anymore. I would rather pay a premium for Strip's hot wax. At least the pain only lasts for a second. 128531

First time to try Cold wax down there.
Oh my! It was so painful! 128534My tech Jaq was great but no matter how much comforting and gentle she was the nature of cold wax and it's repetitive stripping of smaller area vs hot wax is just much too painful 128534 8/10 in the pain scale. And to think I have relatively high pain tolerance.

I think I'll go back to hot wax for my next Brazilian. 128532

I'll just go here for underarm waxing.

Swimming party prep time. Definitely needed to get some waxing done 128513

I usually go to Strip but since I was in the area and Im not so liquid nowadays, opted to go back to Lay Bare 128516

Good decision! Place is kept clean and smelling good. The hair tech that services me, Rachel, was real friendly, accommodating, and gentle with her waxing hands 128079

Bang for the buck right here! Especially if you're used to The Strip or Piandre price 128176

(*didnt feel the need to take photos, might be a bit too much sharing if you know what I mean 128521)

I am such a neat freak when it comes to my eyebrows, I used to go to different salons and waxing place to get my brows done (through threading) but finally...FINALLY... I've found the "perfect" place for me. Not only are the staff very friendly, but they also give good advice about after care and stuff like that. Also, for a student, their prices are pretty pocket friendly that starts from about 100-110.

This post is dedicated to all my lady followers HAHA!

Back in high school, I never really cared about my pits but some friend told me that shaving would darken my underarms. I had no idea that it was actually happening to me, but just a little lol! So I started having monthly visits to Lay Bare.

The Katipunan branch, located in Esteban Abada street behind the Regis Center has the most friendly staff ever. They're all so nice and friendly! Well, I think it's the same for the branch behind Shakey's in Katipunan and in Don Antonio.

I love how they ALL try to start a conversation like you've been going there for years! They also advise you about what you should do when something's wrong with your skin. I also have my eyebrows done through threading in Lay Bare. I think Brow Haus is too overpriced.

An underarm waxing service costs 170 pesos now while eyebrow threading costs 110 pesos.

I'm a Striperella (meaning, I frequent The Strip waxing ministry) but I really needed some underarm hair removed (sorry if its too much info 128513) Since I'm sorta exiled in Katipunan, I decided to give Lay Bare a shot. 128522 Don't get me wrong, I was a bit hesitant and scared at first because of the reviews I've been hearing.

I won't go into detail how the whole process went but I really was impressed with my stay in Lay Bare mostly because of the ff:

- cleanliness of the whole place. they even have 2 employees assigned per treatment room to keep it orderly and clean!

- staff is efficient, knowledgable about their products, services, and their wax. Ate Eva, my "waxer" was exceptional! With the proper amount of humor and loads of client education with regards to waxing, wax, and basic skin care post waxing 128079

- price!128176Being used to Strip prices, Lay Bare is much much much more cheap! Very affordable 128516

After this experience, I will come back and try their other services. 128540
