At the risk of TMI, I went to Laybare after a few months of being lazy for my much needed brazilian wax. I booked an appointment online and chose their branch at Market Market. Just like any Laybare the space is small and girls wait in queue for their appointment. I noticed some girls being accompanied by their boyfriends and couldn't help but feel weirded out especially when I heard that they came for brazilian wax. I am not being prude, it's just that, do you really have to bring your boyfriend to this place and let him know you're taking off all of the hair down there? Can you just leave your guy at home and take care of your business, he's going to enjoy the "benefits" anyway. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I truly find it weird and awkward.

So anyway, my appointment was for 3PM but they asked me in 30 minutes after. Needless to say I wasn't too happy about it because it beats the purpose of setting an appointment online.

Now here's what I have proven in all the times I've done brazilian, if the person who is assigned to you doesn't talk, it would make the process more painful. Which is exactly what happened here. I'm not saying Laybare personnel should be required to talk to their customers, I'm just saying that at least for me, when the staff is talking, she sorts of help me deal with the pain because talking distracts you from it. It also helps to lessen the awkwardness one feels when someone is yanking hair off your hooha.

The girl was quiet, and I don't know if this is the main reason for this super painful brazilian session. Maybe it was also from the fact that her grip was not that strong. She would yank hair and she would only manage to get a few so she has to yank and yank all over again on the same spot. I have a tolerance for pain but not even that could change the fact that this entire treatment had been excruciating for me.

I forgot to get her name, wrong move, I should have gotten her name so if ever I go back I'm not getting her services again.

So there's my little TMI story for you guys today.

Staff: Stoic. I felt as though I was entrusting my armpits to robots.

Service: Okay. It was painful, of course. But the end results were acceptable. I went there 2 weeks after shaving (which I learned wasn't enough yet) so they had to pluck my pits. The horror.

Comfort: Cramped. The waiting area is so small that the clients looked like a can of sardines. The inside of the waxing station is average, not to small nor large.

Price: Affordable. Can be done even on a student's budget.

After how many failed attempts of having my brows done here, I finally succeeded today. They usually have long queues so I made sure I went really early. I was the first customer! 128514

Unlike the salon where I used to go to before, it's more comfortable here since you're lying down while they thread your eyebrows. Place was clean and well-arranged too. The attendant applied petroleum jelly before she started threading my eyebrows. I was satisfied with how my eyebrows looked neat after. 128522

Service was cheaper than salons too. P110 wasn't bad at all! 128521

The audio playing was kinda annoying (and funny) though. "When you see hair, it's time to Lay Bare!" 128563128514

Lay Bare is known for its use of organic cold wax. Every visit there is virtually pain-free (except when I'm having Brazilian though!) and has value for money. I love their packages because I save hundreds whenever I avail them.

I've been a Lay Bare loyal ever since they opened their very first branch years ago and I must say that I'm very impressed with how they're constantly improving their services.

Their Market Market branch moved to a bigger area which has more waxing stalls and a more spacious waiting room. I also like their upgraded website which makes it much easier for registered users to book appointments online.
