I was once addicted to Starbuck's whole wheat bagel. I liked it with my favorite combination - butter + jam + cream cheese. However SB's bagel can be very hard and chewy to the point I have to reheat again in the oven to make it edible. Anyway since I really like bagels, I asked my Kuya to meet me at LES Bagels one afternoon.

LES Bagels is a heaven for lovers of uhm, bagels. They have wide selection of their specialty ranging from plain to garlic to raisin to pumpernickel, and even to blueberry and chocolate bagels. I found this interesting and cool! I went for the basic during this visit so I had their plain bagel with cream cheese. Generous serving of cream cheese! 128541 The bagel was chewy as it should be. Overall I enjoyed my order. The place can be improved though.

P.S. They also have variety of cream cheeses. Aside from plain, they also serve garlic and chive, bacon and cheddar, herb, and apple cinnamon cream cheese spreads.

If you love Bagels this is the place to be.
I went to see a friend on a Friday afternoon and we ordered the plain cream cheese and the pizza bagel for around P400. The place is cozy and the cashier is nice though I cant help but notice the clothing of the employee handling the bagels, its a little err... Anyway we went upstairs to take more photos, we were the only customers. The other table is occupied by what looks like their bookkeeper with all the papers and office supplies around. I didnt see any CCTVs and the lights are too dim and yellow. Though it didnt matter cos' we were comfortable. The bagels are great, the cream cheese a must try. I'll probably return to try the other flavored bagels and their coffee.

In July I started having a love affair with bagels after I bought one from CBTL. Everyday, after I get off from work I'd buy me a bagel. I love it's chewy quality and the fact that compared with ordinary bread it is not airy. I like it with white cheese and jam.

Then a friend told me that we should check out LES Bagels. Of course I was in. We met up one morning, went to LES Bagels McKinley Hill branch and got overwhelmed by the choices. St CBTL there's just the plain and the blueberry flavors, at LES Bagels there's plain, onion, sesame, garlic, chocolate, blueberry, asiago, whole wheat, etc. And the options don't end there. The cream cheese flavors (for the spread) were also endless; plain, scallion, jalapeño cheddar, bacon cheddar, garlic and chives, and so on and so forth.

The bagel itself is only 40 pesos, it's what you put in it that would make it expensive. Like in my case I had plain cream cheese and blueberry jam and ended up paying over 200 bucks, including coffee. My friend even joked that we should have just brought our own cream cheese, lol.

The bagel is definitely thicker than CBTL and the cream cheese was so generous it was practically bursting from the sides. I ain't complaining though, it was really good! It is quite filling that my friend wasn't able to finish her egg & cheese bagel sandwich. By the way, that bagel sandwich is really delicious.

Haven't returned since because I moved to another place but I'd definitely go back when I get a chance to sample the other bagel and cream cheese flavors. By the way, forget about the coffee. It wasn't good.

It was one of two restaurants open that morning.

Disappointing experience -
1) the tables weren't cleaned properly you can still see dust and dried stains on it
2) they served the sandwiches on small paper plates, too small for the food and for the price of the sandwiches I wish they served it in a different way.

Sandwiches:
The Chefs Go To (540PHp)
The Wall Street (250PHp)
The Manhattan (460PHp)

They were all ok but for us it wasn't worth the price.

Finally. I was able to try Les Bagels. Been wanting to try this since I like eating bagels for breakfast, lunch and even dinner. I tries their best seller according to the guy there which is jalapeño and cheddar and their whole wheat bagel. I like the spicy on the cream cheese.

Bagels are of Polish descent.  It's obscure origins can be traced back in a Jewish Community in 17th Century Poland.

The history lesson has nothing to do with my review.  I went the lower east side to buy brownies.  I like bagels especially when im nursing a hangover.  The visit at Tuscany was one of those spur of the moment decisions and L.E.S.  Bagels was the last stop.  I was conditioning myself that i can still ingest carbohydrates but my brain betrayed me when i saw freshly baked brownies.

A brownie is a product of mutation.  Part cake,  part cookie.  The first sighting of this mutated baked treat can be traced back in the United States during the 19th Century.

I've loved brownies for decades.  The smell of fresh from the oven brownies gets me every single time.  Hence the decision to buy some while i was inside a shop that is known for killer Bagels is an understatement.

The lower east side fudge brownie is chewy,  moist,  semi sweet and leaves you defenseless.  Best paired with black coffee or a glass of warm milk.  If you wanna go all out,  add ice cream.

P.S.  I'll get my dirty hands on their bagels soon.

Had quick brunch stop at LES bagels to finally see what the fuss was about. There were so many variants of bagel and cream cheese spread to choose from which took me awhile to make up my mind. Ended up with the Apple Cinnamon spread. Ideally, it would be better to order it on the side. The verdict on the serving? Wow. A thick and rich amount of Apple Cinnamon Cream Cheese with every bite.

Was able to try the Black Pepper truffle and the Tomato Basil, which are great picks if you're going for a savory treat.

Seating area was quite small, but the interiors were so quaint!

Legit. A taste of New York in Manila! My favorite is the Everything Bagel with Sundried Tomato and Basil Cream Cheese. It's soooo good and they're not stingy with the cream cheese filling, it's really a thick slob all over, not tinipid! So I guess you get what you pay for. Another thing I like about them is that they sell the bagels for only P40 each so you can hoard and enjoy them at home. They also have freshly baked pastries that are so appealing and you just want to try them all. It's worth the long drive especially if you're coming from the north.

NEW YORK!

While waitin for t&j to open to have my hair done I decided to have breakfast at LES and also invited my friend to accompany me.

A quaint shop in tuscany serving NY freshlY baked bagels. Apparently the shop originated from NY. L.E.S also stands for lower east side.

T'was the first time I had Bagels and excited as well because of the series Ive watched more than 10yrs ago called The OC. Where the family usually hangs out at the kitchen to talk and they always have bagels for breakfast. 128513 been curious about it since then. Haha.

I tried their garlic bagel I think filled with bacon and cheddar. The filling was good but nothin extraordinary as well as the bread. Also tried their Chicken Pimiento salad, it was ok. Somethin that a gradeschooler can do at home. Considering the quantity and taste its a lil pricey.

For a piece of bagel and a tiny bowl of salad it cost me almost 500pesos. Just a bit pricey and its not even a satisfying experience.

But I will still give it a second try maybe I just expected a lot from this place and will try to purchase some of their cream cheese as well.

Was really curios what is in with the bagel that americans love it so much for me it was just another type of donut. So my curiosity got me to visit LES Bagel one of the popular store that serve fresh bagel.
Begin was my bagel 101. You should order first which type of bagel you like I ordered the sesame since it was recommended by the very accomodating staff. Next was to pick which of the icecream looking creamcheese would you like to try. Everything looks delicious but I go for the bacon cream. Also ordered a capuccino to go with it. The bagel was a heavy meal can serve as your lunch. Love the taste and texture. It was really good. For the capuccino taste good blend perfectly with the bagel. 128523

A hidden gem. This place has authentic bagels! Perfectly toasted and served with a generous portion of cream cheese. There are several types of cream cheese to choose from. I ended up with the the the good ol original cream cheese. Bery tasty and filling. They also serve sandwiches and pastries. Which i will try next time.

Shared the Bensenhurst, the PS 41 and a raspberry cheesecake brownie with my wife. Bensenhurst wasn't bad. Who can mess up prosciutto right? Brownie was pretty solid... literally! It was dense and rich. But my fave was the PS 41. The egg salad was as good as what Manang makes at home. And the capers just took it to another level! Took out one star because a grand is damn pricey for just 2 sandwiches and a brownie. Will definitely be back though. Will make sure to try the bagels next time.

Loved their sundried tamato and olive cream cheese. :)

I promise to try the brownies next visit. :)) As usual, I end up getting their homemade Oreos. Hehe.

Enjoyed munching everything at home. :)

Until my next food discovery.

I've wanted to try this place out as soon as I heard about it. I'm a sucker for a good sandwich and their bagels looked amazing based on pictures.

I ordered the L.E.S. Temptation which seems pricey but is completely justified once you see the entire sandwich before you. The pumpernickel bagel is STUFFED with ingredients and, if you weren't extremely hungry, is good enough to share. The amount of lox and cream cheese is enough to justify the price and the sandwich is rounded out perfectly by the capers, red onion and the slight acidity of the tomatoes. I'd definitely order this again if they didn't have a lot of other things I wanted to try.

Be sure to take home some cream cheese! We got the lox, sundried tomato and basil, and apple cinnamon. The first had a hefty amount of lox, the second is a great pizza in cream cheese form, and the last would make a great dessert or breakfast!

I finally got the chance to try their Black Pepper Truffle Cream Cheese on the Asiago Bagel (which is basically a bagel w/ cheese on top) and it was AMAZING!!!

So sinful and so expensive (P380) but definitely worth trying at least once! Also, I don't recommend eating an entire bagel for yourself, sharing is caring! Half is filling enough because of the amount of cream cheese they put in your bagel.

Truffled cream cheese though, so good!!
