Back in the 60’s (earlier maybe) when my abuelita (grandma) was still studying at the University of Santo Tomas, she and her friends would frequent a place called Little Quiapo. The restaurant which is right across their campus serves THE BEST halo-halo and palabok in town.

Fast forward to the present. Little Quiapo is now located at the back of SSS in East Avenue. I don’t know when they transferred in Quezon City. But ever since my abuelita heard about it, we would go to Little Quiapo whenever she’s craving for halo-halo or palabok.

I admit that there are various restaurants that also offer delicious halo-halo and palabok; however, there’s something special about Little Quiapo’s version. As seen in the main photo, Little Quiapo which used to be a small eatery opened its first branch inside the University of the Philippines in 1949. On September 18th 2018, the restaurant celebrated its 69th year.

For a restaurant to achieve that milestone, it only means one thing. They’re doing things right from the food all the way to the service.

It’s also worth mentioning that Little Quiapo is always filled with people. If you want to dine in, make sure to be early so you’ll be able to get a parking spot and a seat. Take note that the place isn’t that big; however, the limited seats make your dining experience a little more private.

Now onto the food! Little Quiapo has a lot more to offer besides the “All Time Favorites”. They have various choices of beef, chicken, pork and seafood dishes. In the past, I think we have eaten their Kare-Kare, Grilled Boneless Chicken, and Shrimp Gambas. They’re all very delicious and perfect for the whole family. The serving is ample and worth the penny. But on our latest trip to Little Quiapo, we decided to try their All Day Breakfast and Rice Meals.

Tocino Breakfast Set Php 165

Loco Moco Rice Meal Php 160

Chicken Teriyaki Rice Meal Php 165

Among these three, I recommend the Loco Moco Rice Meal. Technically, it’s just hamburger patty but you’ll be surprised how good it tastes. Not only was the meat juicy and tender, but it was very flavorful all thanks to that mouthwatering gravy.

And since we were already there, we didn’t pass up the chance to enjoy some Palabok (Php 105) and Fiesta Halo-Halo (Php 165)! Nothing really beats Little Quiapo’s version! These two always leave you satisfied.

Little Quiapo offers your favorite Filipino dishes at a reasonable price. The food is comforting if you miss eating at home and while you’re at it, there is parking available + someone will assist you.

We ordered sinigang na baka and boneless bangus. Their Boneless Bangus comes with rice already and we still ordered 2 servings of rice because we’re famished like that. Tadah! We didn’t know that the sinigang is good for 5 pax! My friend and I just looked at each other and we didn’t know it’s a family/barkada order. Haha.

I’m giving the place 5 stars for offering familiarity and comfort and providing the world ample parking space. I initially thought of giving it 4 stars for not being spectacular and for not offering new/rare dishes, because at this point where we wake up with breaking news, I just want what’s familiar and comforting.

It's Good Friday and it's tradition that the family dines here for lunch after we do the stations of the cross. They've always opened their doors for Lent. 128568

Again, it's no meat Friday so we went for their fish dishes and they were delicious and very filling. We had the Camaron Rebusado, an all-time favorite for the taste and portion. 128568 Their Sweet and Sour Fish Fillet wasn't so bad either, and their Tortang Talong was a great vegetable dish for the table. Put it all together with their perfectly seasoned and cooked Garlic Rice on a platter and it was indeed an awesome family lunch. 128568

And like all our visits to Little Quiapo, it wouldn't be complete without enjoying their Halo-Halo so we went for the icy dessert to finish the meal. Theirs is really good! 128568

I look forward to coming back! 128571

When your boyfriend secretly put in your paper bag a takeout of your favorite palabok, ahhh it's a go signal that Little Quiapo should have a space in my looloo reviews! Their palabok is the bestseller. Paired it with halo-halo and you can never go wrong. But my boyfriend is sweet, isn't it? #pabebe 128523128076

We threw a suprise birthday party for our boss and chose this place to treat her (and our stomachs too 128518). Ma'am Vangie ordered pancit bihon, kare- kare, fish fillet and spareribs in sets of 4 (for take -out). All were super delicious but i love the spareribs the most (grilled, served with gravy and steamed vegetables... sarap to the bones!!!) 128077

Will try to actually visit the place next time for the menu and prices. Will make bawi with pictures next time 9996️.

Oh and I heard parking is difficult also.

They serve the best pancit, halo-halo and mais con yelo. If you're craving for filipino home-cooked comfort food this is definitely the place for you :)

A little expensive, but their palabok and halo-halo are classic and delicious even after all these years. Good restaurant for family gatherings, but the space is a little small.

If you're a big fan of Kare-Kare, I would totally recommend you to try theirs. It's really good, with or without bagoong (I prefer mine without). Also a great place to bring your balikbayan relatives, they'll love the Filipino ambiance and the food selection. Your titas will thank you for bringing them there.

Best palabok in town na ata masasabi ko sa palabok ng Little Quiapo! :) Nagrecommend sa akin ay ang landlady ko.. Dahil mahilig daw akong kumain.. Try ko daw Litte Quiapo, di nga ako nagdalawang isip.. Sige ako agad para maiba naman.. Sobrang dami lagi customers, ang bilis ng mga waiters.. Active.. Bilis pa ng order ko.. A must try dish! :) I was referred by Rufina C. to join the #loolooiPhone6giveaway!

Why oh why..?? This doesn't taste like Kare-Kare and much to my dismay, it doesn't even look like One..! Don't get me wrong, Little Quiapo has been in our list as a Family Favorite but this time, we were suprised why their Kare-Kare changed 128542128542. However, the Lechon Kawali is still one of the best IMO. I also live their Mango shake because of the Ice cream on top128523128536. I only gave two stars because of what they did with their Kare-Kare. Huhuhu. The sauce tasted like tomatoes instead of the traditional peanut sauce.

this place never changed after many years.

i have known this place coz of their halo halo and it was still good.

we also had crispy pata but it was disappointing, i think it was not newly cooked meat. the tokwa con tokwa was was yummy. the shrimp cocktail was fresh and delicious. their sisig and blue marlin salpicao was yummy too. :)
