BBQ chicken and chicken katsu for lunch last week 128077128525128523

I loved the bbq one because it was sweet and soft and they gave a really generous serving. The meal came with a side macaroni salad and 2 mini scoops of rice (malata-my fave). Kakabusog!

My friend and I looked for some poké but the waitress had no clue what it was. She even thought I was saying something bastos 128563

Loved the whole look of the place - wall-to-wall Hawaiian decor and mural/painting. It was like being in Hawaii but with airconditioning 128516

Shangri-la Plaza Mall is one of my favorite restaurants but lately, nothing seems to be new there. And I realized that its cinema seats are really old! I noticed it when I decided to linger and finish the credits. Eventually, my love for the mall started to dwindle. (And I live far from it now.) But since my mom and sister find the place convenient, we still spend family time there and a few weekends ago, I discovered a new Hawaiian barbeque place called L&L Hawaiian BBQ.

Aloha, L&L Hawaiian BBQ!

This restaurant took the place of the well-loved Trattoria Gourmet. The first thing I noticed was the surf board menu which gave me an idea of what they serve… barbequed and breaded meat.

It was easy to choose what to order since there are not a lot of dishes to choose from. We decided to order Seafood Combo Platter (PHP285), Garlic Fish (PHP220) and Chicken Katsu (PHP195).

Service was pretty quick too. It took them less than 10 minutes to prepare our meal. Well, with its plating, you can tell.

My seafood combo—shrimp tempura, breaded fish and chicken teriyaki—was good but nothing special. The breaded fish is best to be enjoyed with tartar sauce. The shrimp tempura was okay though I felt that it was too small.

The chicken katsu was plated in a chaotic way since the plate was not big enough for the katsu. My sister enjoyed it with tartar sauce while my mom and I liked it with the katsu sauce (which had a slight tangy taste). She totally ignored the macaroni salad.

My mom’s garlic fish was probably the best one. Okay, I’m a bit biased with my love for garlic. But it was the most flavorful. It also came with a mini bowl of macaroni salad.

Overall, it was a good lunch. It was filling and value for money. It wasn’t exactly special but with its service and price, I’d go back.

Wow this place is unexpectedly good! I enjoyed the chicken bbq immensely! The rice (although shaped like a woman's chest, hee hee) was freshly cooked and soft. The only thing I didn't like was the macaroni salad. It was tasteless. The burger steak (loco moco) is also delicious. Not as good as Hawaii but good enough. The seafood platter is generous and satisfying! Will be back!! New favorite place!!

Was really hungry that time and while looking for something good to eat along the busy walkways of Shangri-La Plaza, we smelled something udderly delicious. And the smell of good barbecued chicken came from this dimly lit restaurant a - L&L Hawaiian Barbecue.

Ordered their bestsellers (I forgot what they were called) - the barbecue chicken and the platter which inludes barbecue chicken, fish fillet and tempura. The food comes with 2 scoops of white rice and macaroni salad.

I was satisfied enough with the taste. The chicken was tender, sweet and tasty. Presentation was simple. Macaroni and 2 scoops of rice literally were carbs on carbs on carbs! But macaroni salad is my favorite so, the hell with carbs!

This restaurant's theme is summer beach but you can't feel it that much though. Place was dimly lit as I've said. But the food's good though. Surprised to see the disappointments the previous reviews shared about it. Maybe I was just too hungry that time? Worth the try.

I ordered Kalua pork (220 pesos) and red iced tea (42 pesos). The Kalua pork (photo) comes with 2 small scoops of rice and macaroni. I was disappointed. The food was bland (even just by looking at the photo). It was like eating boiled pulled pork and blanched cabbages. Even the macaroni was not satisfying. Maybe I should have asked for their bestseller. 128543 The red iced tea tasted weird. Maybe they added a bit of alcohol. 128543 If you are adventurous, well you can try their bestseller (pork katsu I think) and who knows, you might have the opposite experience as mine.

Sigh. This is the saddest loco moco I ever tasted. This Hawaiian joint is just a week old.

There's something about the gravy/sauce that doesn't taste good with the burger.

I sincerely hope they will improve in the coming days. Because I love everything Hawaiian. So please up your game. :)

Until my next loco moco experience,
