Loved their classic chocolate softserve with churros! Afraid of getting addicted to it. Need to have it take-out though cos their exhaust fan /rangehood isn't good enough to take out the oily smell from frying the churros. Otherwise you come out smelling like burnt cooking oil. :(

Was finally able to try Llucia the other day at Madison. We always seem to bypass it and go to the bingsu instead but this time we weren't swayed!
They had about 6 or 8 dessert options - soft serve with churros and different types of toppings like caramel, Oreo cheesecake, popcorn etc. we chose the 'Lorenzo' which is chocolate soft serve with 2 churro sticks and Oreo cheesecake. Not bad for php120.
Place is small but had a cool hipster/industrial vibe. They also serve huge hotdogs which we plan to try next time.
Our order was served quickly enough and the cheesecake and soft serve were really good. Not overly cloying or sweet. However the churros were a bit tough. Maybe because of the temp of the ice cream? Not too bad though, you can still eat it if you want to 128522 they also Gave us a carafe of water without us asking for it.
Pretty good experience IMO and the prices weren't bad too. Will definitely be back for the hotdogs!

The other half of Schmidt's x Llucia at the Madison Galeries. The sweeter half, i should say. Churros!!!

To get a few things out of the way first, they were several months on soft opening. That was a disappointment for me since a lot of the stuff on the menu wasn't available for a reaaallllllyyy long time... from plain churros with dip, to the hot chocolate, to several flavors of their churro soft serve.

And even when they ventured out of soft opening status...
1.) They still don't have their hot chocolate drinks
2.) The churro bites were removed i think
3.) Only recently did the chocolate dip for their churros become available while the caramel and nutella dips were available much earlier; and to think that hot chocolate is supposed to be the most basic partner for plain churros

The plain churros with dip were really good! Hot and crispy on the outside, and soft as you slowly bite in deeper. A good size to them too! I waited for the chocolate dip to become available so i could more fairly benchmark the churros against the others, and i could say that Llucia's can hold their own.

The churros with soft serve ice cream, however, is what makes them different. Maybe i haven't been around much since i haven't seen this elsewhere. The contrast between the hot churros and the cold soft serve made for a good combination. I can recommend the Esperanza (dark chocolate shavings and toasted coconut) and the Marco (banana, nutella, and rice crispies). I had high hopes for the Catalina (matcha with mochi), being a matcha fan myself. But this one was a bit of a disappointment, with the dusting of matcha powder so little i could hardly see/feel the green hue or taste it.

Loved the CHURROS! They found the right balance between crispiness and chewiness. Unlike other churros that sometimes taste too oily, this didn't.

Things thy should work on:
❗️their soft serve was ordinary, and pairing it with the churros wasn't as exciting as I expected.
❗️they should work on their exhaust. The whole place smells like oil.
