Familiar, comfort Pinoy food. Advanced ordered some of Lola Idang's best sellers. Not 100% sold on their Fried Chicken because on some days the chicken is overcooked to death. Rubbery levels. But my Mom loves it kahit sunugin nila ang manok. Comfort to the point that even if they make mistakes in doneness our family is willing to forgive. I don't know, blind following, i guess. We've been patrons of Lola Idangs for the longest time and they cook good food overall.

Used to love this branch of Lola Idang's. Its so homey and down-to-earth. I can't count how many orders of garlic rice I and my friends have chowed down in this place for more than 10 years now. Add to that, the many palayoks and platters of kare kare and crispy pata. This was our barkada's go-to place before for gluttonous episodes during our younger and care-free days (nobody cared about hypertension nor diabetes). The service was also nice and we knew the waitresses.
Today I returned and I noticed that this branch has undergone renovation too, like the other branches of Lola Idang's. Its more modern and I like the simple design of its interior. Even the washroom was renovated. Nice.
I ordered my usual fried lumpia. Its still good. Dip it in the slightly sweet vinegar-soy sauce and its delicious. I also ordered the Pork Binagoongan (my first time to order this) and I got an order of their tasty garlic rice. The binagoongan was OK but it will not be one of my favorites here.
What I miss. The former waitresses - there used to be three, are gone. I don't recognize the servers now. Actually they're no longer waitresses since they don't wait on tables anymore. You now have to place your order at the counter, then pay at the counter when you are finished with your meal. I don't get this. It's such a small place. Why make it semi self-service?
The server who brought my plate, utensils, drinking glass with ice and can of soda to my table was either lacking in training or just didn't want to make two very short trips so she put the glass and soda can on top of my plate which made it a little wet. Had to tissue it off.
If I have a time machine I'd ride it to go back to the past just to eat at the old version of this resto.

I love their take on pancit malabon. Hitik na hitik sa toppings. I must say, hindi sila nagtitipid.
A good alternative to Amber's.
