Coming from a Catholic family, it is normal to start the vacation with a visit to a religious place. And since I don’t remember coming here when I was little, I decided to include this popular grotto in the list.
A favorite site during the Holy Week, there are two ways to reach the shrine up the hill. Either you climb the 252 steps or drive through the winding road. I chose the former but lost count of the steps around the 50th. I was too distracted with all my huffing and puffing. Quite an exercise, indeed. I suggest you take the winding road when going down just so you can experience both.

It is customary to light a candle after saying your prayers near the foot of Our Lady of Lourdes.

Travel date: dec 2014

Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto is always a tradition to go to when we're at Baguio. Considering that our place here is near the Grotto we decided to visit ahead of everyone else. The climb is steep as usual with 150+ steps that varies in sizes. Some are too big while others are easy to climb. With the cold breeze still, climbing this one will make you sweat. There's a chapel once you reach the top and it's a beautiful cabin chapel. Really peaceful and pretty! You'll also get a view of the Baguio cityscape. And you get to offer candles, flowers and prayers to Our Lady of Lourdes. Station of the cross is also available for the holy week.

Lourdes Grotto is a 260-step up to see, well Lourdes Grotto. Haha. It’s a good experience. Tiring, but fulfilling since both my friend and I weren’t able to finish it before. At the top, there is also a lovely little wooden chapel. We didn’t get to hear mass here as well.

Super worth the climb. But for some that could not climb that much anymore you could just bring your cars/vehicles on the area itself and just climb a few stairs I think.. 128522

When you reached the too there will be a lot of vendors selling white roses and candles to be offered at the grotto which we did. 128525

We prayed solemnly and it was good!! 128077🏻 Hoping that all our prayers will be answered. 128515

Aaaand another steep set of stairs to climb. Haha. Didn't mind though. It was very cold at the time already and we were very far up. So it wasn't as tiring. We stopped every now and then for some picturing taking so we wouldn't get so tired.

We stumbled upon some natives and had ourselves dressed with bahags and all for pictures. It was fun dressing up and taking pictures with them. Little did we know that there's an additional charge for them being included in the pic. Haha. Cheeky fellows.

I make it a point to go here everytime we visit Baguio. I find this place to be peaceful, or maybe there were just a few tourists when we got here this time around. For singles out there wishing for THE ONE, you should brave the climb because they have a special candle marked for those wishing for love.

I should have reviewed this yesterday since it's #throwback time ;)
anyway pwede pa ngayon and let's consider it #flashbackfriday hehe

Been here almost ten years ago na din, which is actually then my first time in Baguio , at dahil karamihan sa mga kasama ay matatanda like in their forties, so malamang lang na ang isa sa mga di nila palalampasin ay ito... The Grotto of Lourdes... If i'm not mistaken I was just in my early high school years pa...so kering keri ko talaga akyatin yan..but I didn't bother too..
but sad to say na wala na yta yung camera na yun..at kung andun pa, eh nsa mandaluyong yun... right then, after that visit in Baguio hindi na ulit ako nakapunta ng Baguio ever... sana lang next time na pumunta sina tita ko sa Baguio eh isama ko..I miss that place so much..kasama ko pa nun yung isa sa mga favorite kong tita which is now with God na..

Zia M since nasa baguio ka, you shouldn't miss visiting that ok... and after you pray, make a wish.. (If it's ur first time)

And of my closest friend told me, pag first time mo daw pumunta or magvisit sa mga ganyan or church, you make a wish and it will come true :)
Sorry guys don't have the photo na..ni wala pa nga kong cellphone nun..

PS: yung mga kasama ko nga pla nun eh yung mga tita ko na second degree in my mother side, so mga cousin sila ni mama..and I'm really close to them including their child which are my second degree cousin din...
