It is a long weekend. It was looking to be every bit a trademark pigoutsunday weekend since last night hahaha.

Anyway after mass today, the family was planning to have lunch at another restaurant truth be told, but ended up in Lugang Cafe instead.

Kind of a blessing in a way because although we had lunch in its branch in SM aura months prior, we cant for the life of us remember what we ate hahaha!

Oh well so it was like our first time again dining here.

What we ordered:

Spicy beef tendon soup P290 - The dish looked so red perhaps from the chili or annato oil. The noodles looked like fettucini. The beef were thinly sliced. The verdant green of bokchoy contrasted beautifully with the generally red dish. It was delicious but so unlike any Chinese dish we had. Beef was so tender and tendons almost melt in your mouth. We loved this.

Pork Xiao long bao P248 - Good.

Sweet and sour pork P290 - Good. Nothing to rave about . So so

Taiwanese Crispy chicken nuggets P190 - reminded the piggery of Serenitea's version hahaha

Fried Pomfret with basil P520 - I loved its crunch. The presentation was nice. The crispy basil were the perfect foil for the paleness of the dish

Taiwanese Salt and Pepper shrrimp P460 - crunchy and a bit spicy. The piggery loved this

Blended Mango sago coconut milk P160 - delicious and quite generous with the mango puree

Mango shake - 81 year old father in law raved about it so it must be good.

Lugang Iced Coffee - P150 , very good ! My son loved it.

Summary :

All in all something refreshingly different for our lunch today. Learned a new trivia too. Did you know that Lugang Cafe is named after an obscure little town in China? Well at least that what the server told us.

Price : My first thought was that it was pricey We averaged around P600 per person with drinks . But then again we ordered like 6 dishes. So bottomline, it was a reasonably priced restaurant

Will the family be coming back anytime soon ? Well their menu is quite extensive so there is a lot of ''unknown territory" still to cover. Perhaps next quarter or when there is a hankering for something Chinese, Lugang Cafe will be top of mind.

Lugang cafe, you can never go wrong with lugang cafe. Probably the best restaurant in manila. Their xiao long bao is definitely worth of every penny you pay not to mention my favorite sweet and sour pork. I also love their three cup chicken, fish and claypot, etc2...

This resto deserves a michellin star!

My family and I had dinner here one Sunday night to celebrate Grandparents' day.

The place was full and packed with families probably celebrating as well since they're with their lolas and lolos. We were lucky that a table was available when we arrived so we didn't have to wait anymore. 128513

I was looking forward to having a warm cup of hot tea but they do not have complimentary tea! 128546

We ordered the following for sharing:

Xiao Long Bao
- I have only been here once and I've been wanting to go back to try the Xiao Long Bao. Read a lot of reviews saying that Lugang serves pretty good XLBs so my aunt and I shared an order. It was good but not the best XLB for me.

Oyster Omelet
- Too mushy and was kind of weird. 128563128563

Shrimps with Garlic
- our favorite! Overflowing with garlic goodness. We just wish that the shrimps were bigger! Kakabitin kasi! 128518

Chicken Nuggets (?)
- not sure with the name but it's fried chicken fillet. This was just okay, nothing special or extraordinary. Kind of small and biting

Overall, it was just an okay dinner. Liked the XLB and the garlic shrimps!

Service was just okay, a bit slow. Servers weren't that nice and we had a hard time calling them. Also, would have to wait before we get our requests and for our bill

I remember my first time dining at Lugang at their SM MOA branch (not sure if it is still open), my friend treated me to the best selling chicken and it tasted so good! Crisp skin, flavorful meat with a few drops of the sauce, such a delight. Had the chance to dine again this afternoon with family and it is still as good as i remembered. We had the oyster omelette - generous serving of oysters served with sweet chili sauce but i find it that the omelette paired better with the xiao long bao dipping sauce. Sarap! The huge serving of the saucy birthday noodles - full of meat, seafood and vegetables. The kids loved it. The Sour Beef Noodle Soup - was good but the family was not a fan of it. The Xiao Long Bao was hot, savory and had a good meat to wrapper combination. One can easily finish the 8 pieces serving.

Service was quick and efficient. The interiors are beautifully designed. Cleanliness is a 3 out of 5. Can get a bit messy during peak dining hours, was there at aroung 2:00pm and the place was still packed. You can have a nice lunch without breaking the bank. Some of the menu items are suprisingly affordable such as the oyster omelette and Taiwanese porkchops.

Note: Lunch was paid through GCs given as gift.

Visited this place more than once even though the place is a bit pricey. Upon entering the place, you'll notice the beautiful ambiance of the place, which is well lit by its huge and beautiful chandeliers. We didn't wait long to be seated. We ordered ala carte items during most of our visits to this restaurant, and we tried their "feast-all-you-can" promo as well. Everything about this place just makes you want to come back for more. The food is amazing, although serving is pretty small for the amount you're about to pay. Our favorites are the pepper beef with button mushrooms, xiao long bao, angled loofah with shrimp xiao long bao, and even the pork and shrimp shaomai. I also liked their golden fried rice with egg. Their Taiwanese fried porkchop was okay, although I think it could be better. Not a fan of the oyster pancake (although it's a best seller, but this can be just me) and the Taiwanese omelet with preserved turnip bits.
To sum up, 1. Delicious food 2. A bit pricey 3. Kinda small serving 4. Nice and friendly staff 5. Amazing ambiance

I'm not sure if there's an item in Lugang that is not good, but so far all the choices that I had whenever having the chance to dine here, was great!

So one weekend we were stuck with a rainpour outside our hotel and beside it was the urge to have a quick lunch at Lugang Cafe. Hands down to its grandioso interiors! I think it's the most well done interiors among chinese restos here in Manila 128522

Next is the variety of the menu, lots of yummy and refreshing cuisine & concoctions from China & Taiwan! Again we were hungry and got quick cooking foodies....

Xiao Long Bao ... Need I say more? It's been all over the positive reviews so down it goes to my tummy... Hahahaha

Next came our refreshing drinks, the Passion Fruit Iced Tea, a colorful drink ... Then the refreshing Buko Shake.... I had Pomelo Shake, first time to try, and it was freshly made and had some Pomelo pulpits to it as well 10084128077🏻128522

Wonton Soup - had the right amount of saltiness and plump
Wanton dumplings in it with noodles, also a good one!

Three Cup Chicken - we ate everything even the fried gingerlike texture was good to eat, and the sauce really needed to come with warm rice 12852210084128077🏻

Steamed Shrimp with Garlic - soft and tender shrimps lined up with light soy sauce... Yum as well! Wish it was big as prawns! Hehehe 12852210084128077🏻

Golden Fried Rice - probably yang chow in disguise hehehehe also tasted well 12852210084128077🏻 with the pork bits!

Lots of chinese locals and probably mainlands and Taiwanese diners when I got here, kinda understood some of their convos and felt like I was in their country hehehehe 128522

This is probably my most favourite restaurant ever!!! Yes the prices are a bit high but they are worth it!!! The first time I ate this xiao long bao, it's like all the happiness in the world is in this dish, and I can and will eat this for the rest of my life if I can 128514128514128514

I also tried availing their unlimited xiao long bao with my officemates and I think I ate more than 10 pcs of this and some of my favourite dishes in Lugang Cafè.

It's 280 pesos for 10 pcs of this goodness but yes it's so good you'll probably ask for more 128536

Lugang Cafe.

Taiwanese food at its finest.

Early dinner with family. Send off dinner for my Uncle before he flies back to Canada.

We chose the set meals as it is good for 4 people. Set B is a mixture of veggies, poultry, tofu, soup, xiao long bao, seafood and fried rice.

Set B.

Pork Xiao Long Bao
Seafood Spinach Soup
Three Cup Chicken
Taiwanese Salt and Pepper Squid
Kung Pao Tofu
String Beans with Minced Pork
Black Pepper Beef Rice

A lil bit of Trivia, my Uncle said that when you are eating at a Chinese Restaurant, they usually serve rice last. First is the soup, then veggies and protein. Protein intake first before carbs. I dunno if there are any health benefits involved. I am too lazy to use Wiki.

Seafood Spinach Soup. Light and refreshing. This is the kind of soup your mom would serve you if you are under the weather. Shredded spinach, tofu, vermicelli noodles and century egg.

Kung Pao Tofu. This is the star of the show. Tofu sautéed with cashew nuts, dried habanero chilies, bell peppers, and shallots. I like how the sweet sauce and how it enhances the flavour of tofu. Cashew nuts! Take away the tofu, me likey cashew!

Three Cup Chicken. This is similar to Adobo sa Bawang. There is a shitload of garlic in this dish which i like. The garlic is cooked perfectly. You would know if its cooked right when its sweet not bitter. The chicken is cooked perfectly, juicy and the flavourful.

Black Pepper Beef Rice. Asians do it best. This dish can be eaten alone. Beef shreds, veggies, white rice sautéed in some Asian magic kung-fu sauce.

I am skipping the rest of the dishes, i dont care much for dimsum and the squid. Dont get me wrong, they are equally good as the other dishes.

Lugang Cafe, a gastronomical feast made in Taiwan.

Lugang Cafe currently has a "feast all you can" promo at Php588++ running until sometime in May. We ate our fill of xiao long bao (still good as always) as well as various other items such as the honey barbecue pork, stewed pigs feet (my first time to try it, surprisingly delicious), shrimp in lettuce cups, crispy chicken, garlic pork roll, and so much more.

If you can't get enough of Lugang Cafe's dimsum, particularly xiao long bao, I recommend that you check out the ongoing promo while it lasts. Definitely worth the visit!!

I was so excited to discover that Lugang has the exact menu as the Bellagio restaurant chain. The first time I fell in love with Bellagio restaurant was in Shanghai. There's a branch near my place of work, off Shuicheng Road. It's always full-packed. I had the melt-in-your mouth pork. Yum! Everything's good!

Welcome home treat for my balikbayan brother and his family here last Thursday.
Apparently there's not much chinese restaurants that serve good chinese food in London according to my brother.
Xiao long bao and shrimp and pork shiao mai were good! 128077
Loved the spicy garlic fish in claypot, roast duck, and oyster omellette with sweet and spicy sauce 128077128077128526
Breaded shrimp balls, with mozarella, taiwanese salt and pepper squid and their golden fried rice w/egg were good too!
A bit expensive but it was worth it!
Great ambiance and service!

Yes my new a-bit-expensive-fave-dessert!
I didn't know I could find it here at Lugang. This Shaved Ice Fruits. Super stressed reliever, its healthy too except for the condensed milk, oops!128586 The fruit has generous varieties; Kiwi, Dragon Fruit, Melon, Watermelon, Mango, Banana, Papaya and Pineapple which I enjoyed munching.
It was a simple dish yet classy.
The staff are all courteous and nice. Clean and chic atmosphere.
