Ever since I started looloo, way back 2013, I have listed Lusso as one of my must-tries. Last month, I got to cross that from my list.

Place- a lot smaller than I imagined, like they can only accomodate 20 pax inside and maybe 10-15 more outside. But it was a class small restaurant because the server was professional and they have a huge chandelier inside. Posh 128129

Food- we ordered spinach taglierini 127837, this was really good because of the truffle oil and cream 128523

Lobster and river prawn roll 127838127844- this was just okay, I would have enjoyed it more if the bread wasn't that toasted. 128556 I actually wanted to try their lusso demi pound burger but since bf don't eat foie gras, I was hoping he will eat the other half of my lobster roll, but he didn't like it because "mayo". 128530

Steak 🍽127830- this was also delish but nothing really special 128556

Back here and no longer want to try the demi burger as we had a bad experience last time with it. So I ordered the lobster & river prawn roll which is loaded and as expected super good & filling. My concern is the bread, as I am not a fan of extra crunchy bread as it leaves my hard palate with scratches 128518128517. The fries are addicting but an extra dip would be better. As for the mac & cheese, it's sinful and luxe! Will def order this again!

I love this restaurant. From the ambiance, to the food. I have tried their demi-pound burger (with foie gras), pan-seared salmon & spinach taglierini. All of those dishes are absolutely delicious! 128076🏽 And that burger... is definitely one of the most unforgettable burgers I've ever had. Will definitely be back!

I am seriously addicted to salmon! Every time I get to see salmon being offered, I order it. Sashimi, baked, or whatnot, I must try it.

I finally reached the point of being “quarter of a century”. It makes one feel a lot older, right? *sigh* But one nice thing that comes with age is TONS of experiences and memories. It may be good or bad, but hey, it makes you who you are now. (Well, if we try to connect it with salmon, it may sound weird, but I hope you get my point.)

Anyway, Frannywanny asked me ages ago if I was free for dinner at Lusso. It was actually my birthday but since my family usually celebrates my birthday over lunch, I said I could join her and her cousins.

I’ve never heard of this place before but based on how excited Frannywanny was, I bet it’s a good restaurant. And, boy, was it posh-looking. Unlike other restaurants with screaming signages, this restaurant was pretty simple with its name on its door handle. It was wittily done too using a long L as both the signage and a decorative piece for the entrance.

We all met at around 7:30 and everyone was on time. The table reserved for us (a group of 13) was situated outside. But since it was rather hot that day, we requested for the tables inside to be merged to accommodate the big group and the servers gladly followed.

The ones I tried were: Lusso Truffle Potato Crisps (PHP150), Pan-Seared Salmon with Orange Salt (PHP550), and a bit of Shepherd’s Pie Braised Lamb (PHP575).

The Lusso Truffle Potato Crisps were indeed crispy yet for some reason, I couldn’t taste the truffle. It was also a bit oily. Nonetheless it was an enjoyable appetizer.

The Pan-Seared Salmon was L-O-V-E. I was smiling the whole time. I just love how fresh the salmon was and how well it was cooked.

The caviar and the green beans made the dish even more special. My mistake though was skipping the deep fried salmon skin. It somehow scared me. (Odd.)

The Shepherd’s Pie Braised Lamb wasn’t my order so I just had a bit of it. (Let me gush how cute the little metal pot was before I continue. ISN’T IT THE MOST CHARMING BLACK POT?! Okay, I’m done.) The lamb’s meat was really soft and succulent.

I just loved how well it went with the mashed potato. What was weird though was that I didn’t get a hint of prunes at all. It was not sweet. Perhaps the saltiness of the lamb overpowered it.

I’d love to go back for more of that salmon and some sweets.

[Late post. I tried the desserts several months after and the strawberry cream dessert was lovely!!!]

Weekend lunch with my niece who agreed to help me with my Christmas shopping. In return, I had to constantly feed her throughout the day. For lunch, she chose her all-time favorite mac and cheese from Lusso (which I've previously reviewed in looloo). I wanted to try something new and was choosing between the prawn thermidore and the pan-seared salmon. Our server urged me to get the salmon and I am eternally grateful.

Let me preface this with a confession -- I love salmon. Still, I think this dish has a wide range of appeal. It came in a beautiful long white bowl. The salmon rested on a bed of French beans (another favorite) surrounded by a light cream and caviar. The crispy skin was set aside and a small portion of buttered rice came in a smaller dish. I loved everything about this dish and I'd order it again on my next visit.

We capped our meal with their white chocolate tiramisu and a cup each of cafe au lait. I initially had reservations about their tiramisu. I used to like the tiramisu of Cibo (a sister restaurant of Lusso), but on my last visit to Cibo I found it sub-par. But a former officemate who was sitting at the table beside us ordered the white chocolate tiramisu and it looked so delicious. Our server confirmed that the tiramisu is one of their bestsellers and that sealed the deal. Lusso's tiramisu is not like the usual soft mousse-like tiramisu that abounds. It is instead very similar to Cibo's version which uses puff pastry as layers but topped with white chocolate. I find Lusso's version better than Cibo's. The white chocolate tiramisu reminded me of why I liked Cibo's "dry" tiramisu in the first place. Definitely ordering this too on my next visit.128522

Lusso is a luxurious dining place by Margarita Fores. The place is small but it has an elegant atmosphere that is suitable for special/romantic occasions. We ordered a half dozen of oysters (P447), truffle potato (P160), spinach taglieni (P450) and Shepherd's Pie (P575). Food was great. I love the truffle potato and spinach taglierni. We want to try their famous foie Gras burger, but it's not available that time. Hopefully next time it's available already, heard it was good. Overall, the dining experience here was really great. Quite pricey, but it's worth every penny. 128523

If you're going to eat only one thing here, choose the lamb duet salad: Field greens, roast lamb strips, lamb fat crisps, dried apricot, mint vinaigrette. Just exquisite.

65 reviews already?! Why am I so intimidated by this place. Oh well, At Least I was able to try it now. Tried their Lusso Demi-pound burger and it is just amazing. The juiciest burger I've tasted. Like eating 3 patties of thick meat. With foie gras! Amazing. The price is amazing too. The most expensive burger I've tried so far. P850 128541

A European fine dining. The ambiance and service was good. The foods are ok but the desserts are just ordinary taste and too expensive. I love the soup and pasta128077

Eggs en cocotte with foie gras and portobello mushrooms. I couldn't help but order this (even if it was already 12 hours past breakfast) given my love for eggs. If you like your eggs really runny, then this is perfect for you. I however would have preferred it a little bit more set. As it was, I had difficulty spooning it on the toast. Btw, 6 small pieces of toast? Maybe it's just for plating purposes or maybe it's enough for those skinny girls, but I definitely needed more than 6 itsy-bitsy pieces of toast for this dish.

My niece ordered her favorite luxe mac n cheese. She maintains it's still the best mac n cheese she's ever had. It is good but I think it's the most expensive mac n cheese I've ever had to pay for at P645 a plate. I can't recall how much Mr Jones's truffle mac n cheese costs, but I suspect it's still cheaper.

Ended the meal with some strawberry trifle, which was very creamy. I think I'll try something lighter next time.

Instead of the complimentary bag hook that Sala provides, Lusso puts beside your seat a small gilded table with a glass top on which you can set your lovely expensive bag. Well, my bag that night was just functional, at best cute, but still not worthy of putting on display. I'm tempted to bring a big ratty old bag next time.128540

Servers were attentive as always. Maybe it's just me, but I wish their white coats were more fitted. Some were just too loose, as if they just borrowed it from someone. It did not seem befitting an establishment which purports to be all about luxury.

Glad that I finally get to try Lusso by Margarita Flores. Extremely pricey but I assure you it's very worth your penny! Ordered the "Luxe Mac n Cheese" that I learned from Spot's Top 10 Mac and Cheese list and it was awesome, man! I'm a cheese freak and loved every bits of it. Even tried the Cheeseburger and both of them are good for sharing. Don't ya love the indoor dining? It's like your dining at the hotel. The chandelier, the sculptures, the arrangements, and the al fresco are sooooo cozy. Treat yourself once in a while and try Lusso.

Good food, nice ambience. Had fries with truffle cream & salmon tartare mille- feuillie as starters. Especially liked their lobster and prawn lasagna. A bit expensive place but will probably come back for their demi pound burger

Let's just say I'm not a big fan of French cuisine to begin with. But being a foodie, I like exploring new places to eat.

Can't really say much. Taste was nothing special and the portioning of their mains were like appetizers.

I ordered spinach pasta and the pasta tasted like the ubod of fresh lumpia. I tasted the prawn sandwich but it tasted like crab stick salad. Bread was tough too. I ordered lobster bisque which was more edible but soup was a bit salty. To end my meal I ordered a "extra virgin olive oil with sea salt" gelato. No hint of sea salt. Just tasted like normal vanilla ice cream.

On to the next one...

The husband and I spent our date night at Lusso, the five year old cafe of Margarita Fores that we loved from the moment it opened. For one, the place is beautiful. The golden marble floors and walls, gold painted tables topped in marble, mustard gold velvet upholstery, the malachite framed mirror, and the show stopping chandelier that used to hang in the Peninsula Manila Ballroom. It's sounds gaudy but it's not! Even the fact that the place has seen a little wear and tear adds to it's ambience. Just thinking of the interiors gives me a warm fuzzy combined with "for one night, I could be glamorous in jeans" feeling.

When we got there, the waiters greeted us warmly and apologized that there were no tables inside. This was fine initially, because we intended to sit outside. But an event at a restaurant at GB4 was blaring loud house music, so after we ordered, the waiters (on their own) offered to transfer us to an indoor table that freed up. My husband and I observed that service here was always warm, considerate and never contrived.

This being a cheat day, we ordered the foie gras burger (burger stuffed with foie gras, topped with caramelized onions and a Cambozola sauce - a cream sauce made from an Italian cheese that tastes like a cross between Camembert and Gorgobzola). We also ordered the foie gras taglierini, which is seared foie gras on taglierini with cream and pink peppercorn sauce.

We split the burger between the two of us. The bread was very good. Firm and substantial enough to hold up to the burger but not cardboardy. The burger itself is not as oily and juicy as the "uso" burgers nowadays. But I liked the meatiness for a change. The foie gras added the right amount of fat and earthy flavor. Yum! The Cambozola sauce put the dish over the top. It was so good. I wanted to drink the tiny cup with the sauce. But decided against it because it will destroy my "glam in jeans" fantasy. Wahahahaha.

Next, we shared the taglierini with foie gras and pink peppercorn cream sauce. We honestly thought we wouldn't finish it because we were full from the burger. But maygash! It was so good, we practically licked the plate. The seared foie gras was cooked perfectly bringing out the sweet saltiness of the liver. The cream sauce was light and the peppercorns "broke" the umay factor of the cream and foie gras. So yummy. If I would change one thing, it would be to add more pink peppercorns.

In the middle of our meal, the waiter noticed me fidgeting with my big bag. He placed a bag table beside me so I could eat without sharing my seat with my bag.

For dessert, we ordered gelato made from olive oil and topped with more olive oil and salt. It's almost a sorbet in texture and is very light. We also ordered some marriage fres tea (peppermint).

The trend in "comfort food" restaurants seems to continue unabated with new openings each week, based on my Instagram feed. Somewhere with eggs benedict, all day breakfast food, etc. etc. After eating in Lusso, I realized that comfort food is not defined by breakfast food. In my case, it is consistently delicious and unfussy food served in a beautiful but casual setting by a warm and considerate staff.

The Mac and Cheese "luxe" was pretty good, so was the salmon and the sans rival. But it was priced on the high side.

750 for a dish is quite bad considering it's taste was pretty normal.

Will probably not go back unless we don't have a choice.
