Whenever we're in Quiapo and hunger strikes, regardless of the weather, we will never miss the opportunity to drop by R. Ma Mon Luk for their famous "The Original Chicken Mami" (with unlimited soup) and Special Asado Siopao.

The Place. What can I say? It's existence is older than you and I, so don't expect to see high end interiors, air conditioned dining area, neatly arranged dining tables with utensils and uniformed staff / servers. What I like about this place is its simplicity, suitable for the masses. Who would have thought that this place is serving the best & affordable Chicken Mami and Asado Siopao in the Metro.

The Food. What we usually order is their Large Original Chicken Mami (good for sharing and you can ask for unlimited soup refills too) and Special Asado Siopao. Just pair it up with their cold service water -- yes, you read it right. Service water or mineral water is already enough but, you can also order Soft drinks if you prefer. And what's surprising about this is it tastes good.

The Price. You get your money's worth for the serving size.

We have been frequenting the place whenever we're in Quiapo and I suggest that you visit this place too, to check it out.

BEEF MAMI AND SPECIAL ASADO SHOPAO: a big bowl of beef mami, a hand made noodles done in a manual old fashion and having an authentic peculiar taste they have . An almost more than quarter pound asado shopao with salted egg is a perfect combination with a bowl of beef mami . A belly buster! An old mami house along quiapo church before world war 2 for me is a must try place .

I enjoyed their Special Siopao (P70) the most. It's very tasty and meaty, good enough to eat without their sauce. :9

They have one of the best Mamis I have ever tasted, served in big bowls I bet it's older than me. They also serve large siopaos as big as my cheeks. Such a lovely, old place.. But still serves hot, delicious Mami. 128522

I never knew that in the busy streets of Quiapo, there is a hidden gem, a restaurant, named Ma Mon Luk. I thought that Ma Mon Luk is only located in Q. Ave but there is one in Quaipo pala.

The place has the vibe of oldness and i think is full of history. Also, my friend told us that old Chinese business owners has a thing about not changing the furnitures of their restaurants even though nabaha na sila. Please correct me!! ;)) if this is wrong 9996🏼️

I really loved their asado siopao. The pork was shredded which I really loved and it feels very authentic. We also ordered the special noodles which was okay for me. Raisa Z has a different comment about it!! Ha ha

Too bad, their large siopao and beef wanton wasn't the available since it was late na din.

Best time to visit is morning to mid afternoon. 10084

The best reward for walking the crowded and really hot streets of Quiapo is lunch in Ma Mon Luk! And the perfect order is Special Mami, Special Siopao and Siomai! Stepping into the place is like walking back in time. Chairs, tables, walls, even the pictures and cutlery have remained the same. It's as if it was frozen in time. Biggest advantage to all of this is that the food is as good as ever! The siopao is still stuffed full of their famous shredded asado mix. No air in between the bread and meat. Genuinely meaty! The mami is still served in generous portions with plenty of chicken and beef. The noodles would rival any Italian al dente pasta. Bar none, the siomai is still the largest I've seen or had! No other dimsum house comes close to their classic mami, siopao and siomai combo. Suddenly, I'm 10 years old again! 128521128521128521

The special siopao is the bomb! A mixture of "Itlog na pula" (salted egg) , asado and I forgot the other one. 1 siopao is good for two pax already. It's kinda huge compared to other normal size of siopao. The mami tastes like a beef broth. I don't like it. Hahaha.

No picture sorry! 128529

My first visit at Ma Mon Luk Quiapo was yesterday! Yay!

It's an old Chinese Mami and Siopao house based on my research. I went here with my TL and team mates after buying lumpia from Globe.

We ordered Beef Mami and Asado Siopao.

The Beef Mami was so good except the fact that the soup wasn't whistling hot. Ny aunt said it really is like that. The beef chunks were very tender and the noodles were well-cooked. The soup was very tasty. 127836

The siopao was ok for me. I find the meat a little dry as well as the bun itself. But it was tasty though.

Siopai is at 45 and Mami is at 115.

No wonder a lot of people still haven't forgotten Ma Mon Luk.

Servers are nice too! Seeing them wear uniforms makes people that they are all well-trained and clean which is a ➕

It seems like time stopped when I entered the place. I can see the old tables and chairs. I even saw the classic bowls and saucers.Walls that contains all the restaurant memorabilia when they started and compliments they got. Me and my bf bought 2 special mami and a siopao. When the waiter served the mami you can smell the pulled noodles. We thought that we were eating in Masuki but he said Ma Mon Luk is much tastier. The taste is umami and every sip you make it has stronger taste. I also loved the siopao. If you want to eat foods that was enjoyed in early times you have it that restaurant.

Mamonluk in Quiapo is like going on a pilgrimage to the birthplace of the original Mami/Siopao. All of us baby boomers wherever we may come from always have to pay homage to this temple of the Mami Kingdom. There have been many pretenders like LukYuen and Gloria Maris, but no one can make Mami like Mamonluk! You might say yuk to the place, but that adds to the ambience of the place. Old furniture, no aircon, worn out flooring. You might even say "dirty". But would Mamonluk be Mamonluk if it were spic and span? Even the siopao cannot be matched. Despite the rumours that they used cat meat to give the asado siopao that special miaomiao taste. You cannot find another siopao that tastes this good anywhere. I just wish they still had the Cubao branch open. Now, going to Mamonluk is like going to Riyadh on the Haj. What with the sweating crown in Quiapo! So wear your dungiest dungarees, and sloppiest rubben shoes (or even rubber slippers) and head down for a slurpy delight at Mamonluk!

The special mami and special siopao tasted good and had big servings for a reasonable price. Actually, the mami and siopao can be shared by two people. But inspite the delicious taste, big servings and price, the shop in Quiapo has a "not appetizing" ambiance.

This Mami house was recommended by my dad. He used to go here daw after visiting Quiapo church.

The place is old and a bit worn out (but hey, dirty Chinese is goood!). There were oldskul high stacks of dimsum steamers in the counter. Although it's located in a crowded neighborhood, surprisingly, Hindi mainit at presko sya! (They don't have ACs, puro fans lang). You can really tell how old this place is with the newspaper clips and magazine features framed onto their walls years ago to present.

We ordered special Mami (good for 2), Siopao, and Siomai with soup (same soup with the Mami-anlabo nga eh!). The Mami tastes like real Chinese noodles. A bit matabang but you can really taste that they're not using any other flavorings or preservatives. Sarap with the Siopao!

Servings here are good for 2 people, good for sharing ika nga128521

You can feel the oldskul ambience as you dine here, perhaps the same feeling your parents, or even grandparents had years ago128516

The food was at its finest- signature noodle and dimsum way back decades ago were still the same. The place was also historic because the same tables and chairs were not replaced as the years passed by
Favorite hangout place with my boyfie thumbs up for the jumbo siopao!

For years and years of going to this place and enjoying the same food that me and my lolo ordered when i was still 6 years old. I have to say, nothing compares to the old style beef mami and bola bola siopao of ma mon luk. Everybody must try their food esp their beef mami. I eat my mami with lots of siopao sauce...believe me try it and you will love it...mami paired with bola bola siopao is the best combination to try at ma mon luk...

Don't dare call yourself a "foodie" if you haven't eaten here. It's been around for a long time so obviously there's magic in their food.

4 stars because they were out of siomai when we ordered and I was really craving for siomai.

I like the crowd, too. Real people eating real food.
