I got the Signature Steak (healthy) for lunch and the Roasted Pecan ice cream for dessert. We arrived early, so at first the waitress told us that there's still no rice (and that there are a number of other dishes not available). But then after 10-15 mins she was telling the other table that rice is now available, so I hurriedly changed my mashed potato side dish to rice. (I can't live without rice, especially if I'm this hungry!!!) Anyway, the steak was good, but for P310 the serving was small. Or was I just expecting too much? Or maybe because I just recently had a couple of really really amazingly delicious mouth-watering-just-by-thinking-about-it steaks when I visited my family in the US. 128531
The ice cream's consistency and taste is great, but there are so few pecan nuts in my cup. If you're after the taste and texture, their ice cream is a must-try. Don't mind me, I'm just a person who really likes nuts in my ice cream. 128513

Kapitolyo is one food haven that foodies certainly want to visit as often as they can. When the area started filling its space with loads of establishments that serve different dishes, I did find a way to visit as often as I can.

A fee of my favorites in the area where Poco Deli that serves gourmet sausages and steaks. I also love the Vietnamese restaurant Ba Nois that serves yummy Pho and spring rolls. Cafe Juanita's a really lovely place to hang out and chill with your girlfriends. Of course, for desserts, I keep on coming back for Lia's Cakes In Season and yes, Mad Mark's is also a good choice.

It has been a long while since I last visited Mad Mark's and I was excited once more to try something new from this inviting restaurant. Mad Mark's branch in Kapitolyo's quite small. It's like a box shaped establishment so make sure to be there early especially if you are craving for their items so bad.

The interiors were mostly made of bricks and chairs wood that gave it a really cool and chill one to hang out at. The chairs and tables were wooden too and there's not much decor inside given that it's really small and when it's packed, it's quite hard to move already.

For my main dish, I ordered their Fried Yard Bird with Cajun Riggin sauce with Smashed Potato, Broccoli & Carrots on the sides. This dish is one of their bestsellers so I am quite excited about it.

The plate came in and the serving was just fine. The mashed potatoes were really soft and creamy, nicely paired with their homemade Ceasar tasting sauce. The veggies on the side were a bit overcooked. Could have been better if they were crunchy with every bite. The fried chicken were a bit small but crunchy and crispy all the way. I loved the Cajun sauce with it. It tasted a bit and sweet and sour.

They have other options in their menu from ribs to wings to steaks to nuggets and chops and I am quite excited to try more of these comforting dishes.

For dessert, they do have a lot of homemade flavored ice creams that you will surely love. I ordered the Sumatra Arabica and I shared it with my sister Angel as I am not really an ice cream fan but this one, I liked a bit given its not too sweet and bitter taste combination.

For always, Mad Mark's a good choice and if you have not tried it yet, go and experience it as soon as you can.

The crew was very accommodating and they will always face you with a smile. I had a lot of questions to the waitress upon ordering because I couldn't decide which one to choose from the menu. She was patient enough to answer all my queries. The price is average and the serving is huge. They have two prices for some dishes on the menu which could be served for solo or for sharing. The taste of the food also gave justice to it.

I actually had a great time in this place. Enjoyed the meal I had which was the Creole Grilled Chicken. Although, I felt that the chicken was a bit dry. The Japan Japan (another chicken meal my friend ordered) was tastier and even without sauce, it was still good.

I didn't get the chance to try their ice cream, though. But overall the experience was satisfying.

Second time here! Signature Steak was good! My friend ordered this, inubos naman niya except the raw red radish, ayaw pa rin kumain ng gulay 128530. I liked the sauce on the plate than the sauce in the shot glass (both were good naman, personal preference lang). The meat was cooked medium rare kaya OK naman ung texture, malambot.

But I liked my order better, the Japan Japan. Grilled chicken topped with bonito flakes on a bed of vegetables and brown rice. The dressing was a bit like Kewpie Roasted Sesame dressing, just a bit. I liked this better than my first order here.

My first Mad Mark's experience. I felt like having banana flavored ice cream. So I decided to order Banana Frosting (banana + caramel). The concoction is creamy and yummy (happy about it!), there's. A bold banana flavor, though caramel is quite sweet for me. P110 for a cup. Will definitely be back and try other flavors.128585128584128053127820127820127820127846127846127846

Although Mad Mark's wasn't our original place to eat, it turned to be good, at least for me.

My chubby HS classmate and I have our different opinions about food -- she's more finicky than me, much to both my dismay and amusement. Hindi siya kumakain ng gulay, mapili siya hay naku grabe... I would often (gently and half-jokingly) reprimand her for not being a diverse (and a bit healthy) diner. Hahaha. 128514

So she didn't expect that her order The Naked Bleu (₱285) -- sort of deconstructed cordon bleu -- would include lettuce and cucumbers, as well as brown rice. I also discovered that she also didn't like brown rice! So we kind of "traded" our rice with my white plain rice and her brown rice. Grabe masarap kaya brown rice. And she gave almost all the veggies to me. 128544128514 I tasted her food -- I liked the creaminess from the white sauce and mozzarella. Ang sarap kaya ung me gulay!

My own order was the Satay With Me (₱170). I was ok with the veggies -- chargrilled red onions, cucumbers and green bell peppers -- I also like pungent stuff. Only one stick of skewered beef wasn't that tender as was the rest, but I super loved the peanut sauce! Nagustuhan din ng friend ko ung sauce so she also dipped her chicken into it. Hahaha. I shared my satay with my friend -- five skewers of beef per serving kasi -- good for sharing!

Our dessert took long because, as far as I remember, their ice cream machine broke down or something. But the dessert was worth the long wait and inconvenience -- my own dessert, the Apple Cheesecake (₱175) was awesome! The cream cheese-filled pie had candied apple bits on top and Javan Hot Chocolate ice cream (one of their "Honest Ice Cream" selections) I loved it, especially the ice cream, which was not too sweet. My classmate's order was the Fudge Liquid Cheesecake (₱175) -- just the same as mine, but with chocolate ganache and Madagascar Crumble ice cream.

Plus free (and unlimited) lemon water, hahaha. My classmate said had she only known about the water, she wouldn't have ordered an iced tea, although she said their iced tea was also good. Servers were nice and accommodating too. 128522

I am not sure about my classmate, but I would like to come back to Mad Mark's if I have the opportunity to visit Kapitolyo again. Oh well... ganun talaga, people have different tastes in food LOL.

If you are looking for an affordable steak, Mad Mark's is a must try! 128516
We ordered Johnnie Double Black Ribs and the steak is really delish and the rib is very tender, perfect with the sauce paired with corn & carrots. Plus, the Garden Grains is also yummers!
We also tried Japan! Japan! I think this one's for health conscious. It's Grilled Chicken with veggies on top of the dish. It has Romaine, Tare, Red Cabbage, Seared Bonito Flakes, Roasted Almonds, Pickled Sprouts. All of them are veggies I guess. Unfortunately, it didn't come with Squash Puree so the chicken tasted ordinary. I guess the chicken is perfectly paired with the missing puree 128533 All in all, the food still tastes good. Nothing extra-ordinary.
So right after our main dish, it's dessert time! We had Half-baked Madagascar! It was single scoop yet their serving is sorta huge! So yummers and the crew said its their best seller.

[Disclaimer: Late post.]

I just loooove lunch outs! It is refreshing to see, well, something aside from the office pantry from time to time. Thus when an officemate suddenly planned a lunch out a few days ago, I immediately said yes even though I have packed lunch (which was also my breakfast!).

Since we only have an hour to have lunch, we decided to go somewhere near… Kapitolyo! It wasn’t hard for us to choose a restaurant as we have been exploring the nearby neighborhood since last year and with lots of restaurants (such as Milky & Sunny, Ramen Cool, Poco Deli, Thai Dara, and NAV) to choose from, you’ll never run out of options (except for a parking space).

Hello again, Mad Mark’s Manwich and Frozen Desserts!

We decided to have lunch here instead as A2 wanted to buy a cup of Half Baked Madagascar for the longest time!

I was really hungry that day so instead of a sub, I ordered one of their steaks, 11oz Cream Mushroom Steak (PHP270), a glass of their house iced tea (PHP50), and a scoop of Javan Hot Chocolate (PHP68).

Service was pretty okay though there was a bit of booboo with my order and T1 who had the same order only she prefers hers as well done while I asked mine to be medium well. In short, our orders got mixed up.

Anyway, the steak though was still good though the serving wasn’t very generous but definitely worth the PHP270 price tag. The meat was a tad tough but I love the cream mushroom sauce making it really savory and motivating you to eat one spoonful after another. I just do not get the salad as it was a few vegetables sprinkled with parmesan. It was rather dry.

The Javan Hot Chocolate was a great way to end the meal. It was not the super sweet type of ice cream yet still undeniably chocolatey! For PHP68, definitely a great buy!

It was one happy lunch! I will be back to try the other ice cream flavors!!!

This time the visit is not highlighted by their signature steak (because they overcooked our orders)... But by their ice cream. Ordered the mocha fudge which honestly, was just ok. I was expecting more of a mocha flavor but got mostly a chocolate/coffee tasting one.

I had to order 5 times before I got something they still had...come early.

We had some Japanese Fried Broccoli...first time I had broccoli done this way. I liked it!

Also had the ribs. They were good, not great, but won't mind having these again! 128515

To finish off, we had ice cream! A scope of roasted pecan for me...

Its past dinner already and I haven’t eat, since I am near Kapitolyo, I decided to walk and look for a good place to dine… Most of them are already closed but then luckily Mad Mark’s is still welcoming customers.

The place was a bit small, enough to have atleast 20~30 people I think. Upon seated the waitress gave me their menu. Their menu is simple and straight forward which I like because it doesn’t gave me headache in choosing haha. I chose the Signature Steak, since most of the recommendations in looloo is that-so I gotta try it!

Signature Steak – the plating is simple and presentable, I am surprised to have a bigger meat cut for the price of P300++. It was cooked medium-well and it was perfect. It was tender and juicy at the same time. I enjoyed every bite of it! I was smiling while eating, which is a good sign haha. It was filling and worth every peso.128523128523

For dessert, of course I can’t resist their ice cream. Unfortunately the well-famous half-baked Madagascar is sold out so I had to choose other flavors, luckily it’s free to taste their ice cream ha-ha. I had Banana Foster, it’s like choco banana, just the right amount of sweetness.

I want to go back again to have an ice cream marathon haha!

Mad mark’s two thumbs up! 128077128077

Everyone raves about their ice cream but I think it's just ok and the popular flavors are always out of stock. What really turns me off about this place is the upkeep or lack thereof. The bathroom is a horror (there's an actual shower in it probably from the house Mad Mark's took over) with IPIS all over. I'm not kidding. Couldn't even bare to pee knowing that one could climb up my leg and... Hahaha! I never eat savory food here anymore because they're just not good/satisfactory at best. Not really worth my hard-earned peso. The menus are also really worn out, i hope they can invest on new ones. They probably forget about this place with all their mall branches. Oh well.

Twas my first time here. The steak was awesome! I ordered for medium well and it was cooked perfectly. Plus the mushroom sauce was superb!!! For a set at P265 less drink, price was just. The ambience was ok though, but i like how well lit the place is, makes it feel safe inside. Lol.
