✔Ambiance: 3/5
The interiors was a-ok, its almost all red tho. 128514
The place was cramped tho not packed. It feels crowded in terms of the seating placements, maybe 'cause it was located at serendra that they choose the location over the size of the resto. 128517
I don't know if their centralized AC wasn't working (it was hot eating there) or it wasn't a centralized AC that they have on the ceilings that they got those bulky air coolers, other than it doesn't looked good for the interiors it just felt more crowded. But moreover I liked the idea of the wine display that they have on the front, rather than cozy it felt classy..it looks cluby tho than being a fancy resto plus that checkered floor tiles. 128517

✔Food: 4/5
For the entrée, I liked the Linguine vongole better than the famous truffle cream pasta, its like there's nothing too special about it.
The steaks was 128076128076! I guess they cooked it perfectly too, nicely salted. 128513 Would definitely go back there for that.
For the appetizer which I forgot to take photo of and what salad it is cause I don't think it was something to remember. 128517

✔Service: 5/5
Service was great! They are all accomodating in terms of things we asked and very friendly.

✔Price: 3/5
I don't think that their price was worth to what they serve and the ambiance. But definitely worth the try! And the steak was definitely what you would come back for.

It’s been a while since I last had my food review and photo shoot session. I guess the last one was almost a month ago. I was getting busier and busier as I reach the end of law school. Nevertheless, I don’t think it would be a good idea not to grab an invite from one of the best steak houses in town!

Mamou ha been in the business for 10 years and they continue to grow now having three branches. One here in Serendra, another in Rockwell, and their latest branch: Ayala Mall the 30th.

Mamou offers a wide array of menu compose of meat, veggies, pastas, and seafood which are even shipped alive from different parts of the world to the Philippines. Not only that, the dishes they serve are of different influences. Some are Western while the others are on the Asian and Middle Eastern side.

During our visit to Mamou, we were able to try about 8 dishes.

-Fish Fingers with Grilled Vegetable Dip-
Classic boneless fish with a very moist flesh and crunchy beer batter. It comes with a very Indian-y dip that was so surprising! Very strong and contrasting flavors in one dish!

-Hearty Lentil Soup-
It’s like the munggo usually served during Fridays. This will sure give you a nostalgic kick! It’s not too grainy and less starchy than the usual munggo. I just wish they have a bigger serving of this dish. 128514

-Alugbati, Kamote, Talbos Salad-
I didn’t though alugbati can be eaten fresh! This salad is a bomb! It has sweet kamote, salted egg, blue cheese, onions, orange kamote, saba, French vinaigrette, and duck adobo flakes on top! Need I say more? Busolve!

-Pasta Cipolla-
Don’t be deceived by this pasta. It looks boring, really. Doesn’t seem to have anything on it except cream and the visible strips of almost caramelized onion. But try to taste it and see for yourself how flavorful it is! It has a very very very strong flavor of anchovies pala! Sarap!

-Lorenzo’s Truffle Cream-
Another usual looking pasta that’s also surprising! I thought it was just another serving of Pasta Cipolla but I was wrong! It’s truffle pasta! They were very generous with their truffle! Tastes like it comes with a pound of truffle in it.

-Grilled Salmon Steak-
I must say this was the most beautiful dish during our shoot. It’s a big chunk of grilled salmon placed on top of fresh and colorful couscous salad.

-Venison Curry-
A very Indian-y tasting cuisine! A bit hot and very meaty. It comes with a cup of rice and an atchara looking side dish.

-Angus Ribeye USDA Prime Grade Steak-
Obviously, this was the star of the shoot! It was supeeeeer delicious and super tender! We had it medium rare. A solo serving weighs 400 grams. I dunno why they consider this solo. LOL. A serving is good for 2 hungry foodies already.

Overall, our experience with Mamou was really really good. They have friendly staff, nice interior, and fast service. This should definitely make it to the top of your best restaurant’s list!

I was super looking forward to eating here because of 3 reasons:

1. Complimentary Bread - my friend said they serve one of the best.
2. Truffle Pasta - read so many good reviews about this pasta and because TRUFFLE!
3. Awarded as one of the "BEST STEAK IN MANILA".

PLACE: Place is simple. Homey and relaxing. I'm just not into all things red. 128517

FOOD: Honestly, I wasn't that pleased with the steak and pasta we had that night. 128563128528

The bread was good, it was warm and very soft. Served with butter for that extra "yumminess".

Truffle pasta was ohhhh-kay?. Not screaming truffle goodness. Pasta was cooked al dente but in terms of the taste, nothing much to say. I guess I was too excited and I expected too much.

And then the STEAK. We ordered the Porterhouse Steak. Cooked medium as requested. It was tender and cooked perfectly with the inside/middle still red.

I was hoping to be blown away by the taste but it was not as tasty and flavorful. Even with the yummy steak sauce, the steak still tasted lacking. It was not special and not too ordinary as well. I feel so neutral about this steak. It was just bland. 🙁🙁

For our sides, we got the creamed spinach and steak red rice. Both were just okay. Should have asked for something else.

SERVICE: It was okay. Staffs weren't the nicest but they attended to our needs and would answer our questions. Though it felt like they were in a hurry. At one point, we stopped eating and rested for a while since we're still waiting for our 4th friend, and just because we stopped, I think they thought we're done so they got our plates. Yung isa samin di na nakareact kasi nakuha na. Hahahuhu! 128557128557128557

VALUE FOR MONEY: Total bill was around 5k and for the steak, I think it's still worth the try. We were 4 (1 girl and 4 guys) and were all able to eat well. But I'm just not returning anytime soon. I'll go somewhere else if ever I crave for steak or truffle pasta.

Mamou has been part of my must-try list. And the list has been gathering dust somewhere. For some odd reason whenever i plan or list down stuff, it doesn't pan out. Yeah, i am one of those who suck at planning and doesn't know the meaning of "follow through"

I always end up crossing off a restaurant on my list by sheer coincidence. What happened last Tuesday was proof, I finally got to dine at Mamou.

Coincidence, right? Or maybe I'm lucky or whatever.

Mamou has been around for quite sometime and I am probably part of the bottom percentile of the foodies who hasn't tried it yet. I have heard rave reviews about how
awesome their food is. And i gotta say every rave and praise is.......Absobloodylutely TRUE!

| Healdsburg Harvest (Php 335). A bowl full of fresh greens mixed with glazed pecans, dried cranberries, cranberry stilton cheese tossed in berry vinaigrette. I know how a good salad looks like and this is probably one of them. Why didn't i try it, you ask? Well....i ain't one of those who only eats salad. The pasta is too darn appetizing to skip.

Mamou's Linguine Vongole (Php 365). Wow! This is one takes the crown, move over Tratorria Altrove (i mean that lovingly, your Vongole is still awesome but Mamou stole my heart). The Vongole is perfect, a classic Italian dish done with expertise and technique. I felt like i was having lunch at Sicily.

Lorenzo's Truffle Cream (Php 395). It doesn't look much but it delivers in the olfactory and taste department. The aroma of the truffle is inviting and teases your senses. The marriage of truffle cream and Grana Padano cheese is a match made in pasta heaven. The sharpness of the cheese works well with truffle and it brings a distinct flavor to the pasta.

Roast Pork and Chicken (Half Php 365, To Share Php 655). Mamou's citrus rubbed pork and chicken, buttered onions, red Cuban rice, cinnamon saba and black beans. This dish is a revelation for me. Why? I steer clear away from red rice and black beans on any given day because i don't like the texture and me and black beans are not meant for each other. But Mamou made it possible for me to appreciate both. It is proof that when expertise is in the equation red rice and black beans can impress a non-believer. And let us not forget how tender and flavorful the meat is!

Angus Ribeye USDA Prime Grade Steak (Single Php 1950, Twin Php 3490). This is the highlight of our meal! When they say it is medium rare, they meant it. The meat is super tender and flavorful. I loved every single bite.

Key Lime Pie with Schlagsahne (Php 235). I like key lime pie, i even wrote a lengthy review on how i got acquainted with this Florida native (if you have time, read my Round Robin Cafe review).

There are limited dessert places that offer this and sadly most of them failed in the taste department. Well, i am happy to report that Mamou has the best key lime pie ever (emphasis on "ever"). I like the fact that they toned down the tart and it has minimal sweetness. This is a slice of heaven on a humid day.

Mamou! You knocked my socks off! You deserve every rave review.

Peace Out

~Reich

Everything we had was delicious!

From the steak down to the salad. Wow.

Healdsburg's Harvest for the salad, Lorenzo's Truffle Cream pasta and 28 Day Dry Aged USDA Prime Grade Porterhouse Steak.

This is the best steak I have had here in the Philippines. 🖒

Mamou's steak is great! It is perfectly charred on the outside, but medium-rare and juicy on the inside. The sweetness of the fresh beef is pops with just a little salt and pepper.

The fish and chips was cooked well, and i really liked their beans as well.

Birthday dinner tradition at mamou 128522 this place still remains to be my favorite steak place despite a lot of new ones opening up. On the other hand, i guess I'm a bit scared to try them out thinking that I won't like it and my money will go to waste 128513
Made reservations for the second sitting at 8:30 although we were already there by 8, our table was already ready. Again, mamou herself led us in and made sure we were comfortable.
Got our usual single serving of ribeye with steak rice and spinach. Hubby is always game to try something new so he got their L & J something (forgot the name as usual), it's like twice marinated pork belly over rice with their own version of laing. We also tried their mushroom and truffle dip.
Food was amazzze as usual. I really love the crispy bits that come off of the steak 128525 hubby also enjoyed his order, the pork was super tender and tasty. The mushroom and truffle dip completed the other dishes very well.
Service was on point and I really like the laid back atmosphere.
Thanks for another delicious dinner mamou!

Went here for a lunch and i had their duck adobo floss with egg and red rice. Could barely recognize that its an duck coz of its floss like appearance as well with its taste, red rice was good, egg taste like theres truffle in it. 128522 overall its not a bad resto, but as for this order the serving is quite small.

So another long overdue review. 128517

I suggested to eat here bcoz I'm a sucker for steaks. And I've been craving for one. And yes, my mom agreed to. We ordered lorenzo's truffle cream, roast pork chicken and angus rib eye usda prime grade steak.

The place was jam packed so we settled outside. The food came about just right. The pasta truffle cream was plain on the eyes. Nothing in it but pure truffle sauce. But when we ate it, it was good! We finished it in an instant. 128076🏻 The roast pork chicken was not our favorite. 128078🏻 Nothing spectacular. Plain chicken and pork. The angus was good. 128523 So tender and just the right saltiness and taste. 9786️ You can request to have it half medium rare and well done.

Had really good dinner with my boyfriend last night in Mamou. It was my first time there and I loved it. We decided not to order anything for appetizers and just have the complimentary dinner rolls instead. For the main course, we had a single serve of Angus Ribeye USDA Prime Grade Steak cooked medium with a side of white Steak Rice and baked mashed potato. I really loved the steak, tender and flavorful. It was fine on its own but a sprinkle of rock salt as a condiment made it even better. 128523 We also had Lorenzo's Truffle Cream, which was of course creamy, but not to heavy, plus perfectly al dente.

We ended our meal with a small but filling slice of Dark Chocolate Sansrival. It was cold and hard to cut through and it was just right, not something I would order again or recommend.

The serving time was sooooo fast, wala pang 10 minutes. Maybe it's cause they anticipated already what their diners would order. Hehe! I found it funny but cute that almost all the couples having dinner there last night ordered all the same exact main dishes.

The servers were something too. They were very welcoming and it seemed like they were really enjoying what they were doing, making sure that all tables were attended to promptly and graciously.

Five stars for you, Mamou!

I would visit this place more often if only their two branches were near me. I love the variety and the ingenuity in their menu choices. I do only have one photo to post but it doesn't change the fact that I've been here twice.

I had the Grilled Vegetable Stew Php 325 in red rice. Now how's this for a healthy pick. They say its hard to find a guilt free, nutritious gem outside your home. Its also savory in every spoonful. Their Linguini Al Nero Php 365 which was as yummy. The delicious squid ink was very much present with the al dente pasta. The last dish we had was the Healdsburg Harvest Php 335. It is a combination of vegetables, nut and dried cranberry. I've always been a fan of salt and sweet combination.

Hey this is also a legit steak place. One day, I'll come by for it.

Mamou is the place whenever you feel like you cant decide if you want a pasta, steak or pinoy foods. Because they have it all on their menu.
Sounds crazy right? But actually the food here is really good.
I already tried their roasted pork and steak both are great. I think bringing something like 300 to 500 pesos for a meal here. Depends on your order. 9786

Brought the SO here to celebrate his birthday. Got their steak, white steak rice for me, red steak rice for him, and half a bottle of Merlot (since we were still going to Skinny Mike's after). The steak was okay. It was tender and perfectly medium rare. Although I would have wanted it more flavorful and a little hotter (it wasn't very hot when we first took a bite but they had it reheated and it was fine after). The Merlot was perfect and the steak rice was really yummy. Waiters were very attentive and friendly and the ambience was just right. Overall, the experience was good.
