When in BF and we're craving for Chinese food, we always go to this place. It's value for money because food is good, servings are big and prices are reasonable.

Went here after Sunday Church last month and the place was packed! We were seated in a private room but it was kinda small for the round table inside. It felt cramped! Service was a little crappy that night too - super hard to call the attention of the servers, food was served after x numbers of followups.

Anyhow, we got the following ---

> Taosi Spareribs - my ultimate favorite dimsum! Tender, juicy, salty chunks of pork! Best when smothered with toyomansi with lots of chili oil!!!

> Siomai - tasty little pieces!

> Boneless Chicken with Lemon (450Php - M) - chicken fillet with crunchy breading, tender chicken meat, generously drizzled with a tangy lemon sauce!

> Salt and Pepper Spareribs (480Php - M) - another Chinese comfort food favorite of ours! For 480Php, you'll get a lot! The saltiness was just right and this goes well with our favorite Chinese food dip - toyomansi!!

> I also requested for garlic butter shrimps and asked them to peel off the skin already. I was expecting the usual shrimps sautéed in butter with lots of garlic. What they served was pretty weird lol They made a thick sauce, obviously with flour, and butter and there was a mild touch of garlic. The shrimps were cooked just right though but overall, the dish was bland.

> Yangchow Fried Rice - who doesn't like this rice? Tell me?!? lol it's just so good! Lots of shrimps, meat chunks, veggies and egg! It's a must when we're in a Chinese Resto.

Overall, it was a good experience with the food as the highlight. This place can get really noisy when packed and servers tend to get confused a lot too.

Due to the limited food options in our cafeteria, I had a very light lunch which made me look forward to dinner. For dinner, my girlfriend and I went to BF and when we passed by Mandarin, we realized that we were craving for some dimsum.
The dimsums served in this restaurant are usually priced at 88 PHP, and some are priced a bit higher than that. We ordered 6 sets: Prawn Hakaw, Shark’s Fin Siomai, Siao Long Pao (prepared after we ordered), Cutchay Scallop Dumpling, Spareribs with Taosi, Chicken Feet. On top of the dimsums, we also ordered a small set of jellyfish with century egg worth 200 Php.

Dimsum Judgment:

Prawn hakaw: wrapper was too thick, generous amount of shrimp inside

Shark’s Fin Siomai: Did not seem fresh, which is surprising since this is a very busy restaurant. A bit too dry.

Siao Long Pao: had high hopes for this one but was disappointed. Had a problem with the wrapper as well. Thick but was quite fragile, broke apart when I lifted it.

Cutchay Scallop Dumpling: it was fine. No strong feelings about this one.

Spareribs with Taosi: Would have been perfect but half of the dish was mainly fat. The meat was lacking.

Chicken Feet: Great! Wasn’t overcooked and was very tasty. Bone was not breaking apart when I was eating it.

I liked their tea very much. Asked for cold tea, but it wasn’t available and so they just gave us glasses of ice. The waitresses were very attentive. I was a bit worried that service would be slow to react in our section of the restaurant because we were situated at the side. Apparently I had nothing to worry about.

That’s it. Take care everyone!

Back here again but I am not complaining 128513128521 because we finally tried something else aside from the usual!! Yayyy to trying new thing!! 1285189786

Ordered two types of dimsum: shark's fin & beancurd roll. Then Yang Chow Fried rice (of course) and tried the Sauteed Fish Fillet w Broccoli. 128513

Beancurd roll was surprisingly good and siksik. Mommy liked it and orderin daw namin uli next time! 128518 The Fish dish was just okay. Sautéed cream dory fillet and crunchy broccoli w their "special sauce". Serving size was generous, around 8-10 pcs of huge fish fillet w lots of broccoli. In terms of price and size, it is very very sulit. But in terms of the taste of the dish, it was just ordinary, usual fish dish, nothing extraordinarily special. 128517

And yes, we are back again! Because of my mom's unending and undying love for Mandarin Palace, naniniwala na ako na may forever!!!!! 128514

Currently, she is obsessed with their fried lumpiang shanghai. Can't blame her because it's really good!! The filling is siksik and we love it's taste. 128077🏼 Since serving size is really big, we just ordered that + rice and a soup. The small size is already good for 3 at most 4 (not so hungry) human beings.

Orders: Yang Chow Fried Rice (250), Fried Lumpiang Shanghai (250), and Shrimp Wanton Noodle Soup (120) + 10% Service Charge.

Instead of ordering the usual soup (like corn and crab soup), we got the shrimp wanton noodle soup because it's very sulit and we just want something hot to warm out tummies. For just 120 pesos, you get a huge bowl of hot noodle soup with 5 pcs of siomai!! Sobrang sulit, diba diba? 128513128077🏼

The serving size of the yang chow varies. I guess it depends on the number of orders? There are times when it's a lot like really A LOT (that you have to ask the servers if it's really just the "small" serving size) and there are times that it's just okay, enough lang. It nice though that no matter how generous (or not) the serving is, the toppings (shrimp, asado, egg, onions, etc.) are still very generous. I specifically enjoyed it more now because it's tastier and yummier. Or I was just really hungry? 128517

Another thing is, since you have to wait for around 15-20mins for your orders, it's nice that they give free hot tea and the pickled veggies. Pangtawid gutom while waiting. We love their hot tea and the pickled vegetables were so addicting!! I always ask for a refill!! 128586

For this particular visit, service was nice. Our server, Yen (a trainee) was super nice, friendly, fast, and attentive. Thank you!! 9786

Celebrated valentine's day w mommy here at Mandarin. Right after church, we went straight here for lunch. I was planning to eat somewhere else, somewhere extra special but mommy was really looking forward to eating here. AGAIN. For the nth time. 128563128563

After n times of eating here, I think I'm beginning to develop this love/hate relationship w Chinese food. I hate it because I've been eating it almost every week but when I see dimsum, I just can't help but be in love with it. Hay, the struggle is real. 128557

We decided to try different types of dimsum. But I still like their Hakaw. Huge juicy shrimps! 128525 Not the best hakaw but I like the fact that they're very generous with the amount of shrimp they add inside. The other dimsum were just okay. It would have been better if the dimsum were still hot as some of the items were not that hot anymore.

Service was just okay. The staffs were extra "snob" during our visit. Also, with the amount of money they're earning, I think it's time to renovate the place (especially the restroom). Repaint the walls, clean (as in really clean) the whole place. Do something to make it bright and clean. 128513128517

Was still a bit sick yesterday, so got some takeout chinese food! Yeya. They packed our orders in these very simple and transparent ... Plastic containers. Haha i don't think take out presentation should be focused on much as well.

Anyway, got ourselves some shrimp wonton noodles, fish fillet congee, and some hakaw. The reason we ordered a lot for just two people: prices were very reasonable. Pegged them as an "at least 250 pesos per order" type of restaurant. So when i was wrong, bam, overforecast.l (or underconsumption, whichever you guys prefer).

Hakaw was a bit gummy but still very good, and they were generous with the shrimp in them. Tip for the fish fillet congee, if you let it set for a while and you're going to share with a partner, do not just pour the contents in another bowl (to split) because all the fish fillets will be at the bottom. I found this out the "hard" way because i got all the fillets and only "realized" mid-eating that i had all of them. Well at least that was my press release. Hehe (go density!) Finally, the shrimp wonton noodles were good as well. :) i should've heated it first before eating but was too eager. My bad.

Anyway, that's it everyone. Take care! :)

Am reviewing because i can only have one meal today. Haha

Celebrating Chinese New Year at our favorite Chinese restaurant. 127881127881127881

When mommy asked where we'll eat for CNY, it wasn't really a question but it's her way of saying, "Sa Mandarin tayo kakain." 128527 And this time, no protest from me. Been dying to eat dimsum and it's the best time to enjoy it!! 128513128513128513

Whenever I see the dimsum girl going around w the dimsum cart, I just can't help but look at the available dimsum and appreciate their beauty!! 128525128518 and then I end up wanting to eat them. Mommy might have seen the look on my face that she asked for Hakaw and Shark's Fin. Thank you, Mommy!! 128536128536

I'm already happy with my dimsum that I didn't ordered anything else. Mommy also ordered fried lumpiang shanghai and shrimp wanton noodle soup.

Hakaw (128)
- Shrimp dumplings will forever make me happy. These are good but would have been better if the wrapper wasn't that thick but the shrimp inside were juicy and of course, veryy yummy! 128513128077🏼

Shark's Fin (88)
-more dimsum because one kind would never be enough!! 128518 this was just okay. The dumpling was heavy and siksik, though.

Shrimp Wanton (120)
- shrimp siomai overload!!! This was very tasty and comforting. Though originally good for one only, serving size was big w 4 pcs of siomai, best shared w someone. I prefer the shrimp siomai added here more than the shark's fin.

Fried Lumpiang Shanghai (250)
- this was surprisingly goooooood! First time trying their lumpia and it was very siksik, the wrapper was not too thick, and serving size was generous, as well. Mom loved this!! Pairs really well with the yang chow fried rice. 128076🏼

Mandarin Palace will forever be our forever favorite Chinese restaurant because of the following reasons:

1. Very good and yummy Chinese comfort food. They have everything you'll ever want in a Chinese restaurant. Like Fresh seafood, shabu-shabu, Peking Duck, Dimsum, and a lot more!! 128077🏼
2. Reasonable prices. With serving size as generous as theirs, you just can't help but feel like everything you buy here is sulit and worth spending for. When you order the right dishes, you'll end up having a good good deal! 128521
3. Location. A Chinese restaurant inside BF? And along Aguirre Ave.? Yes please. Location is super accessible. 128513128513 Parking may be hard but come a bit earlier to ensure a good spot. 128521
4. Hence, making it a good venue for Family gatherings, special occasions, or just any lunch or dinner or merienda or late night food trip. It may just look "mahal" but it is not. Haha. 128517

For take out, we bought hopia and tikoy. The hopiang monggo is also good here. Try buying before you go! 128513128513128077🏼

Shabu-Shabu night w mommy and Ony because we were all not feeling well and anything hot would be a good cure. We wanted to try Sinigang (by Orange Whisk) but there were no parking space available. Luckily, when we passed by this area, there was one vacant parking spot for us! Thank you, Lord!!! 128588🏼128588🏼128588🏼

Instead of offering a Shabu-shabu set, they let you choose what you want – from the soup, to the vegetables, meat and dimsum. As in everything!!

For our very own shabu-shabu, we had the following:

Soup - Superior Soup (pork bone with corn, parang nilaga haha),
Meat – Sliced Beef and Sliced Chicken. Beef was really tender!!! 128076🏼
Dimsum & Etc. – Shrimp Dumplings (6pcs) and Fried Beancurd (8pcs).
Vegetable – Chinese Pechay and Cabbage

They provide you with the ingredients for your dipping sauce which is composed of – Chili, Satay Sauce, Peanut Butter, Onions, Garlic, Onion Leeks, and their special sauce. You can have them prepare your sauce (they just add everything together) or create your own. I suggest you create your own. 128521

We added an order of a small Yang Chow fried rice for a complete heavy meal. We love their Yang Chow since serving size is very big and the toppings are very generous, you really get to enjoy a lot of shrimps! For 250 pesos, super sulit na talaga!

Service was just okay. Don’t expect them to be really nice, friendly and accommodating since they have a lot of customers but if you ask for anything, they’ll give it to you naman. 128517128518

Sunday lunch date w mommy here at her 2nd favorite restaurant! Mommy wants pancit, siomai, and fried chicken so we ordered everything just for the two of us. 128518

FRIED NOODLES WITH MEAT (250)
Shredded meat, carrots, and mushrooms on top of the crunchy noodles. This was good but I still like North Park's 128513

SIOMAI (88)
This was also good. Huge juicy siomai with shrimp inside. I like that this is siksik with meat and shrimp and not with too much fat as extenders.

FRIED CHICKEN (250)
half order feels like a whole order already (only there's just one leg and wing) but serving size is really generous! 128563 chicken was fried well and very flavorful. Even better when you use ketchup instead of their gravy haha. Mommy really liked this one. 128517

Service was good. Though they have a lot of trainees and they seem clueless most of the time when we ask questions but they really try to answer us naman. Service was fast and we enjoyed everything since our bill was just around 600. Very sulit! 128076🏼

I've only been here a couple of times and I always thought this place was too expensive since it's Chinese but going here and ordering take out with my girlfriend, I was surprised their portions were huge and meant for groups, the small is like good for 2-3 people and realized it's actually worth it, it isn't cheap but it's good for families. As I dined here again I had the Sweet and sour pork which is my favorite, it was splendid, crisp and just how I wanted it, the yang chow fried rice is perfect with it. I was really happy to eat here and be served these portions. If you've got a group or a family, outing here and eating is perfect on Sundays and enjoying great food with company, would love to come back anytime.

Our go to Chinese restaurant. 128513 Sundays are best spent with your loved ones + good good food. After hearing mass, mommy and I had lunch here. It's best to go here early since parking is very limited plus a lot of families are eating here. Always! So the place gets full quickly.

We tried the Peking Duck 2-way. Half order is 1000 (but since they have an on going promo, it's only for 680). It was just okay. Nothing extra special. I haven't tried Peking Duck before so I don't know where to compare it to. Plus, it was dry or it is supposed to be dry talaga? 128517 Next time, we'll just order dishes we really like!! Suahe, Fried Chicken, Yang Chow, Noodles, DIMSUM!!!, and Shabu-Shabu! 128077🏼

Mandarin Palace is a really good restaurant because they do not only offer good and tasty Chinese food, but they are also affordable. It's not that pricey, perfect for big families celebrating special occasions or just spending sunday together. 128513

Mommy and I have been eating here many times already but we haven't tried their Shabu-Shabu. I'm not a fan of this type of "dish" so I don't have that much idea on how it works, the "must-knows", what's the best option to get etc etc. What I know is, usually they already have a set like if you want fish or meat. And it comes with veggies and all the other "ingredients" you'll be needing. A complete set! You don't have to think that much anymore. 128518128517

But here, they give you a list of all the available ingredients and you choose what you want. From the base/soup, the meat (seafood, shrimp, fish, shells, beef, lamb, pork, chicken), meatballs (they have different kinds like fish, squid, fish cakes, crab sticks, beancurd etc.), dumplings (shrimp, beef, pork), noodles (like egg noodle, bihon, sotanghon), and different kinds of vegetables (cabbage, corn, tomato, beansprout, etc.). You have the option to get everything and as many as you want! 128076🏼

While waiting, they prepared the dip/sauce. There's garlic, onions, onion leeks, chili, peanut butter, satay sauce? Not sure with the dark/black/brown-ish sauce. 128563

For our base, we had the superior soup (150). It's the basic/default soup. When this was served to us, it has 2 slices of corn and a huge piece of pork meat. Even without the prepared dip/sauce, the soup was already flavorful! 128076🏼

We ordered lots of leafy veggies because.. Fiber 128541128513128523 2 full plates of lettuce (60) and cabbage (60) !!!!! 128588🏼 and we also ordered tomatoes (60), beancurd (60; 8 pcs fried/fresh), shrimp dumplings (150; 6pcs fried/fresh), sotanghon noodles (70), and one order of Maya Maya head (150). The fish was fresh and not malansa! For 150 we got 6 chunks! Sulit! The shrimp dumplings (150) was good and the shrimps are huge and juicy! 128076🏼

Since Mommy can't eat without rice most of the time, we ordered a small order of Yang Chow (250). If you like fried rice, their Yang Chow fried rice is loaded with toppings and it's good and tasty. And the small size is already good for sharing! Define sulit! 128076🏼

If all Shabu-Shabu are like this, I might be a "shabu-shabu fan" soon. Hot tasty soup with veggies!! Hello, Comfort foood!! 128525128076🏼

Tips:

They have a 20% off promo from 9pm to 12mn. Perfect for late night comfort food hunting or foodtrip! 128521 Also, if you're a dimsum eating machine, they have 20% (or 25%) off promo in the afternoon. 128077🏼 (Please have a dimsum all you can promo pretty pretty please!! 128513128513128513). Also, they have an on going promo for the Peking Duck! 680 for Half and 1200++ for the Whole. 128521

If you want Hopia and/or Mooncake, they have them, as well 128513 Their hopia are goood!!

Lastly, the place is ALWAYS full. Especially on Sundays. Parking space is also scarce! They have an allocated parking area but it's still not enough. So if you're planning to eat here, go a little earlier so you get to park near the resto unless you're willing to wait and/or walk far. 128523

Last saturday was must-watch-Brooklyn-nine-nine day. Anthony and I just spent the whole day just watching and doing nothing. The weather was not so good and weird at the same time that day, it was hot in the afternoon and then it rained in the evening. Come dinner time, Mommy texted me and asked me if we want to eat dinner together. I don't know what's with Chinese food and "older" people because mommy likes them so much! Toho then Mandarin. Oh well.

It was raining so noodles/soup was a good idea! We ordered Beef Wanton Noodle Soup (220), Half Fried Chicken (250), and a small order of Yang Chow Fried Rice (220).

Service was okay. Not bad but not that excellent. While waiting for our order, they served us with pickled vegetables (parang atchara). I don't really get the point why serve them as "appetizers". I would like and enjoy it if they serve peanuts, instead! 128541

I was surprised when they served us the noodle soup because it was really huge! Good for sharing and it was really hot! 127836128077🏼 There were 4 pieces of wanton and beef chunks. The soup was very flavorful and the noodles were cooked perfectly. Still firm and not soft/soggy. Usually, the wanton placed in noodles are just ordinary, just okay ones but the ones placed here were different! Huge wantons with huge shrimps inside. I had two pieces of wanton and both had two shrimps inside! Yay and Yummy!!! 128513128521128523 The only "sad" thing about the soup was the beef -- it was tender but there were just too much "litid" and fat. 128529

The small serving of the fried rice was already good for sharing (2-3 persons). The yang chow fried rice was loaded with so much toppings! SOBRANG DAMI. There's pork meat/asado, huge shrimps, scrambled egg, carrots, and veggies. Super sulit! And kanin pa lang, ulam na!!! 128541128513128076🏼

It was our first time to order their fried chicken and we liked it! The chicken was served with crackers/kropek. It was fried perfectly, the skin was crispy, it was not oily and it was really tasty! Mommy liked it so much that she finished most of it! And is already planning to eat here again! 128566 Definitely not your usual fried chicken. I just had to ask for ketchup since the gravy wasn't good. But other than that, it was really really goof and worth it! 128077🏼

We also tried the Hopia Mongo (80) since I read a good review about it. It was good but not baker's fair good good! A piece was actually heavy and very siksik! 128563

As appetizing as the photo is, It's more of miss for me here. Their food is the usual blends of chinese dishes, nothing surprising or amazing. What's surprising is continuously finding disgusting stuff on your food every time you visit here and I think, my last visit is where I draw the line. You see one time we had shabu-shabu here and we were given veggies with more craters than the moon and when we asked them to change it, it was pretty much the same. Seriously, there was almost no leaf anymore! And This time, I found hair intertwined on my broccoli like it was on a hair show. Then our noodles tasted "questionable" of it's ingredients and had an after taste of like a carton box. Yes, I eat carton for breakfast. Don't you? Lol. So I give up. I'm not setting my foot back in this place. God knows how disgusting their kitchen really is.

We were on our way to pergola that time when the sky became dark and then it started raining last saturday night 128533 Not just ambon but HEAVY INTENSE RAIN. 128532 It was really cold so it was the perfect time to enjoy some hot soup to warm the tummy. Ramen would be nice but chinese food is better! 9786️ When craving for good chinese food, Mandarin Palace is our go-to place. Location's very convenient since it's just near our place. Parking can be tough, though. 128529

Despite the bad weather, the place was still full. When we entered, we were greeted by an uber friendly and active server and we were lucky to be given a table right away. 128513

We just wanted something "light" so we ordered Spinach Soup (200). Hot spinach soup with eggs and lots of seafood pieces. There's fish, tiny shrimps and squid. Perfect for the rainy cold evening! 9786127858 We also had an order of Bihon Guisado (220). The usual topping would be pata but we don't like it so we had it with chicken, instead. The taste was just your usual bihon guisado but this one is loaded with chicken strips! Yayyy! Sulit na! 128513

What I like about Chinese restaurants is the dimsum trolley service! I enjoy it when they go around with all the fresh, hot, and yummy dimsum with the goal of seducing every customer! 128525128539 "Buy me, people! Buy me!" 128514 We ordered hakaw (128) and cutchay (88). Too bad the xiao long bao's not available. 128532 Their dimsum are very siksik with shrimps and veggies! The wrapper's not too thin and not to thick and chewy. 128513

Loved the Hopia mongo that they sell at the counter 10084️ I believe it deserves a whole review to itself! The filling is sweet and smooth and the outer pastry is really good even on its own. It's also delicious at any temperature.

I think Mandarin Palace doesn't make it since It says on the container that it's from Bantai bakery. One container of 5 pcs costs 80Php.

Can't believe i decided to try this just recently. Hopia mongo lovers must try this! It's definitely at the top of my best Hopia in Manila list haha
