Went to UST last week to help my cousin submit her requirements. Good thing the building we went to was near the P. Noval gate, Hooooorayyyyyyyy!!!! Mang Tootz food house is just near. I was not allowed to accompany my cousin on the room itself so I went out and headed to Mang tootz. I was really excited as I walk outside. Many things have changed. There were several new cafes now. As I reached Mang Tootz, I immediately approached one of the ates if they already have banana rhum-a as it was only 8 in the morning. Good thing they already have which were ready to be delivered to their Makati branch. After 3 yrs, price is still at 3 for 10php. I bought 30pcs for 100php. Wooohooooo, banana rhum-a parteyyyyyy. Hahahahaha Banana rhum-a is like a mini turon with a secret sweet coating drizzled with cinnamon-sugar mix and sesame seeds. Definitely, tatak Mang Tootz!! 128516
Mang Tootz food house is just a typical carinderia which offers delicious, clean and affordable food. I recommend their sisig, beef teriyaki and chicken cordon bleu. The servers here are really nice and attentive and take note Mang Tootz is hands-on so you might bump into him when you dine in here. Everyone loves Mang tootz food house, and this is a place you shouldnt miss when you visit UST or whenever you are in the area. 128077128077128077

Was at UST again for an event which finished by lunchtime. We asked where to eat and was directed at Mang Tootz. Not knowing what it is, I was honestly surprised to be eating at a carinderia (naspoil kami sa Maginhawa!!).

But wow!!! Ang sarap pala talaga ng food 128523 the place is apparently famous for good food esp their banana rhum-a -- their version of turon. We ordered a lot (see photos) and they were all good 128588🏻 after eating, a manong approached us and asked if we had a good lunch. We said yes of course, and we were surprised that it was Mang Tootz himself! Such a nice guy 128522

P90 for dinner! Not bad at all. P70 Pork Pot Roast, P10 for 3 pieces of their famous Banana Rhuma, and P10 for the rice. Pork was tender and the sauce was very tasty. 128522128079128079128079

I'm not a Thomasian but I have always heard about this student-friendly carenderia at P. Noval. Hearing those stories of how good the banana rhuma and their other food always made me want to go there right away. After numerous (fail) attempts to dine there, I finally got to try it last Monday when I was in the area. Fail attempts because I went there once and the place was packed aaaand I was in a hurry, the other visit on a weekend and they were closed. 128547

That was my lucky day. I ordered their sisig, chicken kebab, banana rhuma, and a cup of rice. All these for less than 200 bucks! Presyong pang-estudyante and the meal was really filling. I should've just ordered one ulam. Anyway, liked all of my order. The sisig was not hot anymore because it was past lunch time already. Tasted good for me. Spicy was just enough that it made me eat more rice. Chicken kebab cost around 70php and was a really big serving! They removed it from the stick and placed their cream sauce. Nice contrast to the hickory flavored chicken. Oh and the banana rhuma was indeed good! 128523128523 they're like mini turons that were sprinkled with sesame seeds and cinnamon powder. di ko napigilan and i called for another order! 10 bucks for 3 pieces was not really bad! they're extra yummy if you had them when they're freshly cooked and hot!

Now I'm happy to have a Thomasian sister. I can ask her to bring me some when I crave for those bananas.

I wonder why banana rhuma? Do they put rhum in it? 🤔🤔

You’re not a Thomasian if you don’t know Mang Tootz and it’s famous dessert, Banana Rhuma. Mang Tootz has been around for quite some time now and over the years it has become one of our school’s most loved kainans ever. It has also been featured in many different TV shows, the latest being Kris TV. May tarpaulin pa sila outside about it!

One of the best things about Mang Tootz is that they serve really delicious food that won’t cost you a lot. Especially for students that really look for something na makakatipid sila. For just P100, sigurado mabubusog ka. Having a really huge variety of dishes everyday — korean beef, adobo, sisig, etc. — dining here every day won’t be a problem. Kahit iba iba pa ‘yung food niyo araw-araw, hindi kayo magsasawa. I highly recommend their Korean Beef and Cordon Bleu, napakasarap!

Service here is really quick as well: pick an ulam of choice, get your bowl of rice, pay for the food, and you’re good to go! Once you dine in, you get complimentary water and soup that really makes it all sulit.

To top the whole experience,  you can get their famous Banana Rhuma (3 pcs) for only P10. It’s basically a bite sized turon sprinkled with cinnamon, sesame seeds, and sugar (making a wild guess here lol). It’s really the best. Ang sarap isabay sa ice-cold soda kapag hapon!

Even after two years since I graduated, ang sarap parin balik-balikan ng Mang Tootz. I guess one of its charm is that hindi nagbabago the quality of food that they serve. And also, hindi nagbabago ‘yung friendliness ng mga tao nila.

Awesome!

Great value for money.128076🏼

When I was still a student at UST, my friend/classmates used to dine in here for lunch. So whenever I am within the UST area, I make sure to check out Mang Tootz.

Apart from banana rhuma, my other fave (and a staple order) would be chicken fillet with tartar sauce.

The staff is also very efficient and friendly. Mang Tootz is also very hands-on. I saw him a couple of times on his resto and serve the customers.

Highly recommended for students! 9786

Mang Tootz!! We always get excited when my friends and I plan to eat here because the food is really good. Like they add their special touch to the dishes to make it more unique and exciting.

Sarap ng mga ulam, promise. Tapos ang babait pa ng mga tao, lalo na si Mang Tootz. They treat you like a friend, not a customer, which makes every visit more enjoyable. I think the reason behind their good food is because the son of the owner went to culinary school at ISCAHM.

Your lunch/meal wouldn't be complete without ordering a couple of their famous banana rhum-a. Sarap!

I'm not from UST but a lot of my friends who are, keep telling me about this place. So one day, I decided to try it out. The outside and jnside look like a typical carinderia. I ordered sisig and lechon kawali (haha takaw!) Each viand came with rice and soup for 75 pesos. It was sulit and fits the typical student budget. Masarap naman haha. For dessert (yes, nagdessert pa haha) I ordered the banana rhum-a. 3 pieces of little turon sprinkled generously with sesame seeds and milk powder. They were yummy and something I'd crave, especially since I love turon. This version was a welcome twist to the classic snack/dessert.

Walkathon with my buddies after getting our PE Unifs in UST and found Mang Toots, typical carenderia beside UST. Ordered pork in creamy mushroom for 60 pesos + 10 for rice and my companion ordered breaded pork and you gotta choose 1 sauce among the 4 choices. The meal comes with free soup and it was good!

For our dessert, We ordered the famous Banana Rhum-a 3 pcs/ 10 pesos and we enjoyed every bite. Delicious! 128077128077128077128077

Back in my college days, I used to often go here and Since me and my friends used to make tambay here, naging friends na namin ung may-air. And he often gives us free BANANA RHUMA (their best seller in desserts) it's like small Turon (5pcs of banana & langka wrapped in fried wrapper with brown sugar and sweet syrup). They are usually jampacked during lunch time. Not too costly and food is deliciously cooked. 128077

They say you're not an official Thomasian if you haven't experienced 2 things:
1. Lumusong sa baha and
2. Kumain sa Mang Toots.
Mang Toots is your typical eatery near UST , great food , over-the-top quality service , location is not too bad. Of course you can't expect the place or the food to be sosy since they created their meals to fit the budget of students especially fine arts majors like me who spend every penny on materials *boohoo* Anyway , going back , I think the best thing on their menu is what the people of the masses [or students in UST] call the "Banana-Rhuma."[insert church choir sound here] It is simply , banana and I think there's langka in there rolled in lumpia wrappers then deep fried to crisp in a mixture of oil , sugar , rhum and Mang Toots magic , served with a healthy amount of sugar and milk powder on top then PRESTO! one of the best desserts everrrrr!! Come on down here in UST and have a taste of this wonderful creation. :)
