Thanks to Clarissa P, I was able to try the cassava cake that's been flooding my IG feed a couple of weeks ago. I love the consistency, texture and taste of the actual cake. The sweetness was done right and no strips were caught stuck in the middle of my teeth.

Now, why three stars? Blame it to the topping! It would have been awesome if the topping was way more than what's on the picture. I barely tasted the custardy taste that should have been rich and tad cheesy.

Growing up in the province, the cassava cake topping is non-negotiable and it's the deciding factor if I'll buy a slice. I know I will not enjoy the local delicacy if the topping is not thick. Huhu sayang!

What is a cassava cake? To some it's just an ordinary local and traditional cake made from the mundane" kamoteng kahoy" or kasaba/cassava.But made no mistake MangoGrill Manila elevated this simple item into a new spectrum.

I had ordered yesterday via lalamove and had some balikbayan folks tried it,the comments."Masarap sya at hindi pareho ng sa iba matigas" considering it was sitting on the office for 10 hours ,the cake's consistency is still soft. The quality is good because the ingredients used were premium.

The cake is soft, topped with glistening layer of cheese , not overwhelmingly sweet unlike your run of the mill cassava cakes, texture of real "kasaba" is still evident which made it more appealing. And it can last up to 3 weeks when being stored inside the freezer. They made it new without veering away from it's charming traditional qualities.

For me it's a good product and you're not just having a good quality old time favorite Pinoy cake but you're also helping our local Sorsogon cassava farmers.

Sulit at hindi nakakaumay.🙂9786️🙂

Real time review because it was such a disappointing experience. At first I was thrilled to find a semi-fancy restaurant in this little town. It actually looked so nice, the interiors, both indoor and outdoor seating. But then everything else was just bad.

Let's start with the service. The servers are not fully knowledgeable about the menu. I asked our server if I can add an additional stick of Pork BBQ and she said no. They only serve 1 stick of BBQ with java rice. Ok that's fine. But then as I was flipping the menu, I saw a 2-pc BBQ option and when I pointed it to her she looked surprised. And then it turns out, the pork bbq wasn't available, and so was java rice. Also, the "Mixed Seafood Rice" that my mom ordered apparently doesn't come with rice. The table next to us also ordered items that made servers come back to them only to say "hindi po available". Also I couldn't decide if the servers were shy or just weren't happy to be working there.

Worst of all was that the quality of food wasn't good at all. Only the desserts made up for it. We spent roughly Php 1k for 2 persons. Waaaaaay overpriced for the food and service.

Food was ok. It took around 30-40 minutes before our food was served. Price is reasonable.

We order the Filipino platter and the seafood platter. It was good enough to feed 12 adults.
