I have this obsession with penguins from the day I watched Scamper the Penguin back when I was a kid. There was just something so interesting about these little creatures, they’re so fancy looking with their little suit-like skin/fur and the way they waddled around.

Well, this particular post is about Maverick Christopher P and me meeting Penguins for the first time. When I found out Manila Ocean Park had a Penguin enclosure, I was determined to go there. After the new year, we planned the trip and to our luck they had a promo! We got the whole package for just P1,200. This included:

The Sea Lion Show
Oceanarium
Fish Spa
Back of the House
Penguin Talk Show
Birds of Prey
Snow Village
Trails to Antartica
Jellies Exhibit

Sadly, we weren’t able to go to ALL the exhibits due to time constraints but nonetheless, what mattered was the close encounter with the penguins!

We got to Manila Ocean Park at around 1:00PM and it was scorching hot and the lines to the shows were crazy long. That’s one thing I can advise, try not to visit them during peak days like holidays and weekends.

We first went to the Sea Lion Show and well, it’s pretty much the same routine with what they had at Ocean Adventure. But we had better seats, we were close enough to see the water glisten from the furs of these cute water dogs.

The trainers would ask the audience to close their umbrellas, so despite the heat, I’m glad I had a jacket on! I don’t think I’d appreciate getting darker after watching the show. Haha.

After the Sea Lion show we went over to the Oceanarium and I guess Maverick really enjoyed the fishes coz we spent over an hour taking photos of all the fishes! It was pretty crowded and dark, so if you’re claustrophobic it wouldn’t be a good idea to go there. I would’ve probably enjoyed the Oceanarium better if there was less people.

Next stop was the part I have been DYING to get to! THE PENGUINS! They were kept inside an enclosure and to get a close encounter with them you had to pay an extra P600 and that’s good for 3 people, any additional persons would have to pay P100 each. This also includes 1 photo printout of the event.

They make you wash your hands and they give you a fish to feed the penguins during the encounter. You then enter through a tube from under the enclosure and a photographer will be there to take your photo. I had a little problem though – you see, unlike Maverick, I’m kinda short. So one of the penguins just snapped the fish from my hand and I kinda got scared after that. Unlike penguins on happy feet and other non-realistic films, real penguins are not all fluffy. They’re actually really sharp looking and their fur seems so slippery. I wanted to touch them but the one that snapped the fish away gave me this look like – “Nope, don’t even.” Haha.

After the penguins was the Snow Village, which was disappointing. The place was just a room filled with melting ice! Nothing like real snow, but yeah other people went nuts over it.

Wished I could say more about the other attractions but we didn’t get to do everything because of some inconsiderate people who decided not to come on-time. (Insert meh face here).

The whole experience would’ve been better if it wasn’t so crowded and we weren’t rushed to go through the place. But, seeing penguins were totally worth the trip.Wished I could say more about the other attractions but we didn’t get to do everything because of some inconsiderate people who decided not to come on-time. It's been a while since I first visited the Manila Ocean Park with my family. Back then, the people are so hyped to go there well because it's new and who wouldn't want to be inside a big aquarium? Well my boyfriend absolutely love fishes so yeah it's a part of his birthday celebration aside from the H2O Hotel.

We didn't feel like the deals from the ticket booth from Manila Ocean Park are worth it so I decided to look up deals in Metrodeal. Luckily there are a ton of deals for Ocean Park and we opted for the 899 pesos which includes the following:

✅ Oceanarium
✅ Trails to Antarctica (Penguin Exhibit & Snow Village)
✅ Jellies Exhibit
✅ Birds of Prey Kingdom
✅ Fish Spa
✅ Sharks & Rays Dry Encounter
✅ Amazing Stories of Yexel's Museum
✅ Liquid Buffet

We headed first for the Oceanarium, it's what I remember since then but I am still amazed with all f the fishes inside. I remember also that flash photography wasn't allowed inside and it still is. I am really amazed with the dome size aquarium and the sting rays are as huge as ever. I felt like my boyfriend was in cloud nine because these gigantic aquariums and fishes.

The nest stop is the Sharks & Rays Dry Encounter, which is located outside. There are huge sting rays there and one of them, we are allowed to touch. I touch it will all the fear in me, the skin was rough and slimy. But of course my boyfriend enjoyed it so much, just like a kid with a new toy.

Buffet lunch is included in our ticket and it is located near the Sharks and Rays Dry Encounter. We decided to ate lunch because it was I think past 1 P.M then. There was a pool there which by the way H2O Hotel guests are allowed to swim. The food choices are few but I am amazed that they are tasty - didn't expect them though. Also I super love the dessert - Buko Pandan. It has Nata de Coco and it's so creamy! For 200 pesos per person, I think the buffet is worth it.

After eating, we then continue to the Birds of Prey Kingdom. It was so hot outside but the encounter with them is rewarding. I was so afraid to take my picture with them because they might claw me when I get too close.

Then we headed to Trails to Antarctica where the Penguins and the Snow Village is located. I was so ecstatic when I saw those Penguins! They are so cute! But to have a close encounter with them we need to pay 500 pesos. We thought about it, and headed to Snow Village where the temperature is negative something, and it was freezing! We couldn't stand it so we opted out. We then decided to have a close encounter with the Penguins. The 500 peso includes an 8R picture plus I think an unlimited time with the Penguins. We are assisted by the care taker/photographer and capture lots of pictures. I am tellign you that the fee is worth it! I love those Penguins but we are not allowed to touch them because then they will be stressed and might peck you. The caretacker/photographer said that initially they are just four pairs and now they are nine I think. They have their babies there so yeah it was amazing! I noticed that they super loved fishes, because they are fighting for the fishes whenever you throw the fishes away.

Next is the Jelly Exhibit. I know they are just jelly fish but they are fascinating plus the neon lights made them even more amazing. I wonder how they got all of them inside, I am still afraid of the Jelly Fish sting you know.

Overall I really enjoyed it, I thought I wouldn't but I really did. It's a great bonding for your family and kids.

Surprised my boyfriend to Manila Ocean Park for our Anniversary. I got the tickets for a cheap price around P500 per pax but the normal entrance fee is around P700 up.

It's not as big as compared to HK's Ocean Park and there's no thrill rides but I still enjoyed it.

Some rides (as I call it) have cheap entrance fees. Around P50-P100, even if you have the ALL PASS card.

We went to the oceanarium and there were a lot of different sea creature species. There's a jellyfish exhibit which is my favorite. Penguin talk show. Some of which I can't remember anymore cause they're mostly for kids. If you have children, it will be fun for them bring them here.

Before the night ends, we watched the Musical Fountain show which is enjoyable for kids heheh or the kids at heart.

What I just don't like about this is some parts are filthy. There are areas that are obviously not being maintained well. And the airconditioning in the food court are is so bad, pagcrowded na sobrang init.
Aside from that, most of the restaurants inside are fast food so don't expect to enjoy dining here.

I recommend you go here on a weekday cause it could be crowded during weekends due to the nunber of bus tours and field trips it accommodates.
Ps: took this photo in the aquarium area.

Was able to buy a voucher at metro deal for a cheap amount and toured here with my boyfriend last year. Grabe i must say I enjoyed it a lot cause Imve never been to hk ocean park. However sabi nila Manila's version is a lot smaller. Wala masyadong tao when I went there so good for me :) we also tried the fish spa which is super relaxing and nakakakiliti. May additional charge for that though. Enjoyed taking photos everywhere, sana lang mas maraming choices for the restaurants and sana habaan ung area ng tunnel sobrang short lang. Hoping when I get back nagimprove na facilities nila.

This is the place where you can see all the kinds of fish and they have also dolphin show and an oceanarium where you can watch a human acting like a mermaid just for a show. Its a nice place the decorations and the dancing light specially at night when you watch it "s sooo beautiful.

It's not as good as it used to be. The place kind of deteriorated. Worn and tear, I guess. There are new attractions, yet there were also lost ones. We got our 10-in-1 deal at Metrodeal. For only Pho 799, we got to enjoy the following:

(1) All Star Bird Show - i found it quite short, but it was a good start. We watched about 5 (?) birds fly and do tricks. This show is also at predetermined times so better to check these schedule first.

(2) Shark and Ray Dry Encounter - Here, we got to touch the stings rays! Amazing. But it was raining so the touching area was quite small. I like that Manila Ocean Park provided cheap plastic coats for free. No time limit here. Oh, the one shark was quiet at the corner so :(

(3) Penguin Talk Show - Sadly, no penguin talked. Just an animation, with a voice over. The voice over was so good! He delivered the funny penguin character very well. I liked it.

(4) Birds of Prey - This is where a number of birds are on free flight (though the space was limited, and Manila Bay was (still is) dirty. We got to have an up close and personal time with them. No feeding though.

(5) Sea Lion Show - I thought I was going to see my high batchmate perform. Too bad she was assigned voice over for the day. The sea lions were so fun to watch! There were two of them - the oldest and youngest. There both were so playful (though the old one seems tired). They danced, and made wacky faces, clapped and got embarrassed, and, of course, the tricks. Also at predetermined time, so again, reminder to take note of the schedule.

(6) Jellies Exhibit - Aquariums and aquariums of various kinds of jellyfish. Too cute. :)

(7) Amazing Stories of Yexel's Toy Museum - I've been to the original Yexel at Las Piñas and, though I found this Ocean Park version better kept, I prefer LP. There are more toys in LP than here in Ocean Park. Most of the segments here are interactive, rather than plain viewing, but there were too few of them. We've got life-size (or bigger?) Minions, upside-down room, Spiderman, Lord of the Rings, the throne from Game of Thrones, Star Wars, and Ironman. Just those. Oh, Cinderella's glass slipper too. They were fun, though I found it bitin.

(8) Oceanarium - More aquariums, this time of various sea creatures other than jellyfish. Also, underground aquarium tube (or whatever you call that area where you walk through an aquarium). We were expecting more really.

(9) Trails to Antartica - We saw too few penguin. Separated to us by an aquarium. I thought this was where we get to feed the penguins, but nooooo. We just experienced "below zero" temperature and walking on ice. The huge airconditioning unit looks ugly too.

And, lastly,

(10) Symphony Orchestra - Lights and fountain show, with a little bit of fire and fireworks. I loved this. What a great sight to end the tour.

We didn't get to experience Fish Spa (where you submerge your feet on a tub with fishes and they eat away dead skin cells), Creepy Crawlies (reptiles, I guess), 4D (?) movie experience which costs a hundred pesos, and, as mentioned, the penguin thing, but I think this was more than enough for the Php799 deal. I wish they'd kept it in good conditioned though. Aquariums look old, with the water too low. Too short a period of time for the shows. But thank you to the staff for taking care of us customer - they gave us free plastic coats every time the attraction involves going outdoors. Also, when it rained too hard, they had an alternate starting point for the Oceanarium so that we won't get wet (too bad we missed some aquariums!).

Oh, there were a number of schools on their fieldtrip today!!! Gosh! Although we didn't get to bump into any of them in any of the attractions (except the last 3), the hallways towards the only available escalator was jampacked!! They shouldn't have allowed those stalls inside.

Also, there were a lot of food choice, but few enticing ones only. There's a buffet. I think it costs around 250php because of a promo.

But, all in all, it was a great deal. :) Head on over to Metrodeal to get great deals as well.

Few reminders - no food and drinks allowed, know the attraction areas and time so you can optimize your day (we were able to fit these 10 into half a day!) and also to save energy from all the walking (again, ONLY available escalator...), follow the rules, and be kind to other guests (DO NOT HOG THE AQUARIUMS PLEASE).

(Longest review ever. Woo!)

It was my first time to see this place and I really had a great time. It was fun and exciting but I did not have enough memory space for all the attractions. I will definitely go back and try all the attractions next time. 128513128513

This is a very memorable place for me. Apart from having fascinating sea creatures, my bf and I had our first date here some years back. So exactly 3 weeks ago, celebrating a special day, we went back. It was a rainy, gloomy Monday morning yet we still pursued our date. I even thought the amusement park was closed since the weather was bad but i saw people, with foreigners lining up the ticket booth.

We went inside, still fascinated with different marine species. It wasn't that cold though and like before, not well lit. Until we reached Oceanarium. We took pictures and stayed there for a while. Little did I know, there was a photographer stealing shots of us. 128522 There was a guy inside the aquarium feeding the fish. And it was a nice sight. We even had a picture taken with the diver behind us. At the other side of Oceanarium there was an enclosed area with a set up of rose petals that spells as i 10084 u. There were uniformed staff behind it and said you can have your picture taken inside, with the set up, and buy and claim it outside. Of course I want our picture taken there! 128521 So we went inside, held hands, then suddenly our song played all over Oceanarium! iI got teary eyed thinking it was a nice timing. I got confused for a moment since they were taking our picture and we still werent moving out. And the boyfriend were kind of got frozen and wont let me move out of my place. Weird since the other tourists were holding their cellphones and sort of taking our pics or taking our video? So I asked the bf that we get out, maybe the others want to have their pics taken there too. But he was stiff. Then at the corner of my eye, something caught my sight. And I looked behind me. There was a tarpaulin. And I had to read it. I was shocked!! Of course I instantly cried and when I looked at my boyfriend, he was already kneeling beside me with a ring on his hands!!! And he asked again. I sobbed a little then I said YES!!! Then I had a ring on my finger and got a tight hug from him. I was still crying when I noticed the people watching. They were clapping and congratulating us. It was an unexplaineble feeling!! That kind of moment I only see in movies. Well, it happened to me. Ang haba ng hair ko!! 128516

Turned out he planned that moment so ahead of time, coordinated with a staff from Manila Ocean Park and executed it on that specific day. Yes, I was so clueless since it is so not him to be doing such a thing. So double my appreciation!! 128525 Credits to Ms. Leah Bucu of Manila Ocean Park and her team for prepping the event and to my bf's brother and mom for helping out. And of course, to the love of my life Melo. Good job!! 128537 We got a usb with our pictures and a short video in it. Yay! 128522

So all in all, this place is very historical to me. I will always come back to reminisce. 128077

Ocean Park maybe wonderful for some, but I have mixed emotions when I visit there. I am happy that my girlfriend's goal is achieved when we went there, but, as an animal lover myself, I can't help but pity those wonderful animals back there. They should be at the sea, ocean, or any marine habitat, but then, they were trapped by this huge aquarium, to think that they're so near to the sea. I do hope that, maybe, after a few years, this kind of "Entertainment" will be ban.

In Manila Ocean Park, there are tons of activities one can choose. I've experienced the fish spa, helmet diving, spent some time in a winter-theme worlds. I also encountered marine animals and my favorite jellyfish.

i'm like a kid on a Christmas morning when i was in Manila Ocean park i just love marine animals especially sharks, but the effect on me is a bit different unlike my first time even if they added more attraction. I still love it though.

My advice is to get your ticket in advance so you won't wait in line that long, that's what we do!

P.S I know it's disgusting but yes i kissed the tank 128536128032128031 haha!

The place was better when I first visited it three years ago. Now, the aquariums had less fish and though still well-maintained, the animals were to me sparse.

Good place to educate kids on our marine wildlife but I hope they do something about violators of flash photography.

Take advantage of the many promo tickets and the various shows.

Don't forget to try the fish spa which comes with almost all packages.

Skip the buffet. The food is not worth it.

The Antarctica part is a bit sad as I remember Happy Feet while viewing the penguins. The cold area was just that - very cold.

For my birthday, I asked my nephews where they wanted to go and the youngest said, Ocean Park, and so we went to the MOP.
The only ocean park I've been to prior this trip was at Sea World in San Antonio Texas, where I saw dancing otter, singing, dancing and acting dolphins and balluga whales, the funny and friendly Shamu the shark, with pools, theme park rides and great Texan BBQ restos inside; so I guess the comparison is quite unfair. But hey, feedback is feedback, and I believe in what MOP is trying to do aside from earn money, i.e. promote conservation of the oceans and marine life. I wish they will improve because it's for their benefit.

Because I was with my nephews, who enjoyed the big aquariums and the fish and other sea creatures, I can say I enjoyed the trip, in general. They can improve on their shows though. We didn't get to watch all, but if the dancing/musical fountain show would be the basis, I'd say, they really really need improvement in showing mastery of the craft, whether scriptwriting or stage production. It felt like I was watching a production made by an amateur/college media group; in fact I felt like my friends from my college's media group would have done better (and I was in college ages ago). Even the costumes and props were of poor quality, the wear and tear was evident. All I remember after watching the show is the chef running around trying to catch a big lobster (or crab, I can't recall); literally and old joke.

Just like what I saw in Sea World San Antonio, MOP can use their shows, especially the finale show, to promote marine life conservation. That would have been a good one to cap the day trip.
