When was the last time you've been to Manila Zoo?
Mine was around 2 years ago. Wouldn't bother to come if it wasn't part of a school project. I was looking back and reminiscing this great experience that I've had and I would love to share it with all of you!

I had his once in a lifetime privilege to do a documentary about the daily life of zookeepers. I've always been a fan of theme parks and zoos so I when I was thinking of a concept in doing a documentary, I thought of this. Then it made me think does Manila Zoo even pass the standards of what a 'good' zoo should be? Does it serve it's purpose? And many more questions that pondered on my mind.

Gladly our topic has been approved and interviewing zookeepers has been easy for us. They didn't ask for permits and so, but we just had to align our schedules with them. We visited a couple of time before the actual interview so that the zookeeper will be comfortable enough with our presence. We followed him the whole day in feeding the animals assigned to him. We were able to go to prohibited areas in the zoo and even fed TIGERS!

I was even able to go inside the rabbit cage and take photos with them, fed the famous Mali the Elephant, even fed a Hippopotamus! Ang bait ni kuya for taking care of us and making sure we were not harmed on those experience. My groupmates and I were like kids haha we were screaming with fear and excitement and happiness, all those emotions coming out at once! What more could a child feel if they get to experience this?

Sadly, Manila Zoo has not been really renovated ever since and 'nanggigitata' na yung zoo. I feel sorry for the animals,
And I wish the place will be renovated talaga and i'm hoping in the future I don't have to go all the way to Avilon Zoo or Malabon zoo just to bring my kids to a 'better' zoo than this. Nararamdaman ko rin that the animals are not that happy and malungkot talaga yung vibe. Halos wala na ring animals and puro halaman nalang.

I heard this July 2016, renovation will star already and I hope talagang mapaganda nila yung Manila Zoo.

I already posted a review a few months back but I was only able to include 1 photo, so I'm kind of reposting and just elaborating that experience 128523

This is a slightly biased post because I went here to do my documentary film about Manila Zoo.
I took an initiative to do it for a project in school and interviewed a zoo keeper.

Honestly, Manila Zoo is dying. There were very few animals to interact with. Most of them looks very exhausted with the poor ambiance of their cage and filthy environment. It doesn't smell nice here.

We went here in the afternoon around 2pm, maybe it was the animals siesta time so all of them were sleeping. Few visitors come in because it's a weekday. This is the only zoo that is most accessible to most Filipinos and how I wish they would take care of it.

The place is big and there's a huge room for improvement. Upon interviewing the Zoo Keeper, he said he feels sorry for most of the animals because they're emotionally unstable and unhappy.

We were fortunate enough to be able to interact with Mali the Elephant. He looks sad and old and was very slow :( but he is really friendly. We fed him with vegetables and it's cute when he reaches ot his trunks to us!

I hear rumors that Mali is sick and duing and hoping the zoo could do something about it. And even better to do a major, renovation to this zoo so that every kid and child who will visit this will be excited and feel happy and not feel the pitty I feel for the animals.

I grew up to this zoo. It has drastically changed lver the years, but still, this is still the same zoo I have always loved. Besides the animals, they added more attractions, such as boat rides. 128522

This place had run-down over the years. I brought my baby girl here for a sight seeing. But the animals seemed a bit weak. Not much animals were present too. I remember as a kid, there were giraffes but now there were none. It was a bit filthy were the animals are kept. If you are planning to go here, prepare for the heat! And bring water. 100pesos for the adult, 60 for the kids.

Missing your brothers and sisters in the zoo. Why not visit Manila Zoo? A very well-known and controversial one. Located in Malate, Manila.

Kids will love it here! Even though the place isn't that beautiful, its sad to know that it wasn't well taken care of.. The entrance fee is still cheap though. P100.00 for adults and P60.00 for kids. Tamad lang ang peg ngmga animals. lol puro nakahiga!

The last time we were here may giraffe, zebra and elephant pa, I heard nawala na ito ngayon. We enjoyed that visit because we went to Kiddie Zoo with P50 per head entrance fee but if you'll visit the old zoo it's disappointing.
