Would have preferred the onions in my gyros sliced more thinly but the flavorful tzatziki sauce more than made up for it 128077 I liked the pizza with its fresh ingredients and thin crust 128154 healthy quick lunch. Good food. Good service. Good Value for money. Don't come here for ambiance though128522

Manos Greek Taverna is a curious little operation beside Sbarro's in the North end of Mall of Asia. The place doesn't have a very polished look; everything from the facade to the tables looks amateurish - as if the owners and operators didn't really know how to promote or design a restaurant. The food is similarly unspectacular in presentation. In truth, the food looks so boring I couldn't use any shots.

This isn't just a surface impression. When eaten, the food proves unsophisticated - the kind of simple fare you might expect from an actual farm table.

All that said, the cream and feta cheese pasta and Greek pizza I ate had a rustic and hearty sensibility that suggested that this was actual, genuine Greek food the way a Greek might eat in his home. If there was a "lutong bahay" flavor to Greek food, I suspect this might be close.

The honest face of this Greek Taverna is an interesting find for foodies who might be a little jaded with the carefully managed menus in Sbarro's or Cyma. If you're gonna try this out, I'd suggest going sooner rather than later. The plain presentation and alien sensibility doesn't look likely to attract a consistent Filipino clientele. I expect the place to close shop in the intermediate future.

A quickie review: Had a quick lunch at Manos Greek Tavern. Food was good and surprisingly cheap. Had a huge beef shawarma meal with beef soup, rice wrapped in some sort of leaf and a generous helping of feta cheese and bottomless iced tea for 260. Thank was a mouthful! Sorry I didn't have time to take pics. As I said, it was a quick lunch... :-)

I always pass by this establishment going home since my office is just around the area. This place has piqued my curiosity especially I am a fan of greek cuisine.

This restaurant is the first branch in Metro Manila from the orignal Manos Greek Taverna in Tagaytay. They claim that they serve 100% natural no preservatives, colorings or any chemicals and I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt.

My above pictures and comments are as follows:
1. Arni Fourno (lamb in oven, served w/ potatoes) - The lamb looks dull and flavorless, but to my surprise, it tastes pretty good. Soft and juicy. A bit pricey though for P680.
2. Pork Chops - Same with the lamb, it looks boring, thick and dry, but upon tasting it, it proved otherwise. It was soft and yummy.
3. Lamb shoulder - This I am sure cannot match all other greek restos I've tried like Cyma and Greeka Kouzina. The serving was hard and small for the price of P680.
4. Greek Salad - I have to say that the salad was authentic enough.

Overall, this restaurant is far from their competition, but is worth dining from time to time. There's a lot more improvement needed especially in this branch. I hope the owner will spend more time in developing this restaurant rather than leaving it all to his/her Filipino servers who seem to still lack training. Or I'm afraid this won't last especially in Mall of Asia where there are loads of competition.

P.S. They serve complimentary hummus and small portion of pita bread. They also have free and fast wifi. Don't also get the last table near the cashier as there are lots of flies.

I had a dinner here yesterday with Mako. And it was good and healthy!

Tavern has its first branch in Tagaytay and they are famous for serving fresh and all natural menu. Ive learned that their ingredients are actually came from greece :) the food was light and good for people who are conscious about their diet :)

Weve tried beef shawarma and their combo number 3 which includes pork stew with celery, pasticcino, rice, salad and iced tea :)

Also the price is very affordable :)

Tryyyy itt!! 128525128525128525

I realized that to write a fair review, one must know how the food should actually taste & not just judge it subjectively, according to personal preference. To do that, is hard. It takes a lot to education. A food "critic" must also have a wide vocabulary to be able to describe food more accurately.

I realized these when we ate at Manos Greek Tavern. Personally, I thought that the chicken gyro was blant. The pita wrap was "makunat." I asked myself, could it be softer? Or would be wrong if it was softer or more crisp than it was? It had more potato than chicken inside. But then again, was it supposed to be that way?

They also served us complimentary pita & hummus. Boy, I glad to finally know what hummus was! I first heard of hummus on FRIENDS. What was that yellow thing that stained Phoebe's dress??128559

Overall, the experience was so-so. We were the only customer, apart from the European backpacker who sat outside. Service was so-so too. The backpacker had to go inside to follow up her bill. We too had to wait awhile for the bill. They only had 3 customers! 128542

We felt sad for the owner. My officemate & I saw him when the place was just being constructed. We thought that maybe we just ordered the wrong thing- one only thing we could afford. Hehe. We thought too that maybe the restaurant would fair better if placed inside the mall. We just sincerly hoped that the place will not close down. 128532
