Hiyeeeeee!!!

San Antonio Plaza is one of our go-to places for a decent meal. We’ve tried every single restaurant here, except Maple. I do apologise and I have no excuse for avoiding them. Being the better version of Pancake House, in my mind I always thought, “How different could they be?”

Girl, was I wrong 128581🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ My jaw dropped as I embarrassingly got the best Price is Not Right of each dish. I had the worst guesses in the whole bunch. The food was so pretty I thought they were double the price. How could steak be so cheap? If the game would be name the ingredients in each dish, panalo na sana ako. Next time yun naman please.

I was happy to see they had a different menu, with food options that I know I'll enjoy. As most have already described the food we had here, let me tell you about my top 3 favorite dishes:

127809Prime Rib Tapa. 520.00
Marinated prime rib served with garlic rice, two eggs, and a side of salsa and achara.
A huge slab of tapa. One of the best versions of tapa anyone could make. this was meaty, cooked medium as we requested. My photo doesn't do it justice. Shareable.

127809Eggs Benedict. 295.00
A Maple signature with Canadian Bacon poached eggs, Hollandaise.
Loved the puff pastry they used. If you like food with texture then this will satisfy you. Egg cooked perfectly, with it oozing down on the plate when you cut into it. You could order extra bacon for this.

127809Arugula Salad. 225.00/450.00
Fresh mix of arugula, cherry tomatoes, walnuts with a light lemon vinaigrette, poached egg, proscuitto, Grana Padano, balsamic reduction.
For that grown-up in me that has learned to appreciate vegetables. Loved the vinaigrette they used.

What an eye opener for me. I will definitely be back here. Food is a 4, pricing and location a 5 for me. I do not mind upping my rating to a 5.

While you can use the elevator to go to the second floor, if you don't mind, use the stairs at each step will give you a dramatic view of the iconic Sanctuario de San Antonio.

What a fun night 10024 Kudos to our hosts from Maple / Max’s Group that prepared games for us. I am definitely coming back here.

Hugs to Peanut D. and Roegan T. for a fun night. Thank you EJ B. for styling the table for us. Fun night with Anna D. Bea Patricia J., Brie K., Eboy D., Julienne Y. Pat D.

San Antonio Plaza is your friendly neighbor that has it all - cakes and pastries, coffee, rustan’s supermarket, wine and cheese, a nail salon, NBS, RTE meals, errand sections, clinics, and a lovely restaurant that’s like an extension of your family kitchen - MAPLE.

MAPLE could be your :
* Sunday FamBam lunch out place after church
* Weekend brunch date spot with friends (titos&&titas of MNL)
* Classic client meeting venue
* Date place before dessert/coffee
* Gourmet dining place before or after you do groceries
* I’m-lazy-to-cook-so-I’ll-eat-here-nalang-for-breakfast 🤣

I was blessed to be part of the sponsored looloo rendezvoos of the makatiSquad. Thank you Peanut D & Roegan T ! Thank you to the marketing team of the Max’s Group as well for the warm accomodation and joy-filled experience!

Onto my musings :

I initially thought it was a breakfast spot that serves pancakes and waffles with a variety of maple syrup blends 128517 so I made sure to free up tummy space for carbs! But as the dishes were being served, the variety of color was a clear sign that I won’t be eating pancakes for dinner!

In order of preference :
🥘 BLACKENED CHICKEN (P485)
The highlight of my evening! I absolutely love the creamed spinach!!!! The rich, buttermilk goodness complemented the thin slices of cajun chicken breast very well that it could pass for special pasta sauce when you add truffle oil or mushrooms!!!! 128524 And the dirty rice was a perfect contrast to the creaminess because it has chicken liver in it (Yep! That’s why it’s called dirtyyyyy *wink)

🥩 PRIME RIB TAPA (P530)
( Prime. Rib. Tapa. For 530?! Only P55 more expensive than the blackened chicken?! Thought it would be 700+ ish! ) That was my initial reaction upon learning how much it was 128517 The serving is enough for a hungry caveman but could be shared with a date/friend if you’re ordering another main dish. Quite a huge steal actually. Less bone, more meat full of flavor! Ah, good old savory tapa!

The best part is - YOU CAN CHOOSE HOW IT’S DONE! Same goes for the two eggs too! 128517

128587🏻‍♀️ Medium rare tapa anyone?!

PS: comes with a huge serving of garlic rice, and three sides : vinegar, tomato-onion salsa, and atchara because t.a.p.a

🥗ARUGULA SALAD (P235)
I’ve always had arugula with pizza, or ricotta cheese, but this one’s a simple treat for your tastebuds! Arugula leaves to set the palate, candied walnuts with the crunch effect, cherry tomatoes for bursting sour-y sweetness, and the light lemon vinaigrette you’ll love! It‘s also topped with poached egg, that added a lumpy feel to the salad. It deceivingly looked like a thick dollop of cream cheese! Oh and it also had prosciutto, and parmesan cheese, but I think the egg masked them both 128517

127859EGGS BENEDICT (P305)
I usually stray away from Eggs Benedict because it has the “heavy vibe” but having this for DINNER at Maple was quite a gamechanger! Perfectly poached eggs with hollandaise sauce, on top of light and puffy rectangles - I almost forgot the bacon strips in between because of how delicately smooth the puff pastries were! I guess that’s what makes this item stand out. It’s often the hollandaise sauce for some restaurants, but it’s definitely the puff pastry that made it a “Maple signature” PS: Wouldn’t be complete without greens + potato chips on the side of course 9786

🥧APPLE PIE WITH STREUSEL TOPPING (P250) I love anything apple from sauce to pies but this is sadly a no-vote for me. Primarily because it had a thick gummy, gelatine like base that I’m not really a fan of (especially when it’s mixed with chocolates / chewy cookies). Maybe it could’ve been better if there were more apples too and a bigger scoop of icecream :)

BONUS : Houseblend Iced Tea under the citrus department! I’m a Berry Iced Tea person but their version was orangey and very refreshing! 128521

I’ll definitely come back - for brunch naman!128524

The restaurants under the Max’s Group is undeniably popular. Brands like Max’s Restaurant, Pancake House and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts to name a few. But did you know that there’s one more brand that offers an All-Day Breakfast and it is called Maple.

The Maple brand offers breakfast comfort food served in a cozy ambiance. Located at the San Antonio Plaza Arcade in front of Santuario De San Antonio, this restaurant is a perfect place for both lunch and dinner.

DINNER IS SERVED

In this Looloo rendezvoos we were served their best sellers which the group really enjoyed.

| ARUGULA SALAD (Php 235)

It was mixed with cherry tomatoes and walnuts. It is topped with poached egg, prosciutto, shavings of Grana Padano drizzled with balsamic reduction. And since the arugula tasted bitter, the light lemon vinaigrette saved it. This would-be heaven for those who love greens!

| EGGS BENEDICT (Php 235).

My favorite of all the dishes! This signature Maple breakfast is topped with Canadian bacon, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce on top of a phyllo pastry. Chips and greens on the side was also served and this can be shared by two people. I enjoyed the balanced flavor of this dish and first time to try a puff pastry on Eggs Benedict. But I forgot to ask, can we request the bacon to be on the side and made it crispier? 128522

| BLACKENED CHICKEN (Php 485)

This is grilled Cajun chicken breast served with creamed spinach, bacon and dirty rice. The rice was mildly spicy which perfectly suited the overall taste of the dish. Although not one of my favorites, but a must-try for first timers.

| PRIME RIB TAPA (Php 530)

This is my second favorite! This is a marinated prime rib served with garlic rice and two eggs on the side. It also includes a tomato-onion salsa and atchara. What you love more about it, aside from the price, you can also request your preferred doneness. The one served to us I believe was medium rare as it was really seared outside with hints of red in the center. Though the presentation is quite dull, you will totally enjoy every bit of it. Forgot to ask again, do they offer it with mashed potato?

| APPLE PIE WITH STREUSEL TOPPING (Php 250)

And to finish off a dessert pie. This pie is filled with Granny Smith and red Washington apples. The sweet and crunchy streusel covered the top and a vanilla ice cream on the side. I considered this as my least favorite as it really lacks the apple pieness (imbento!) in it. But nevertheless, enjoyed the vanilla ice cream!

So, if you are considering a family lunch, dinner or even a date, head to Maple to enjoy their meals. If you have events, they can accommodate up to 30 people just to make sure to call them for reservations.

Maple (part of the Max’s group of restaurants) is a casual dining restaurant that serves classic American-Filipino food. It boasts of elegant but humble interiors and is perfect for hearty breakfasts and family brunches.

I was privileged to be invited to a looloo rendezvous where we were able to try their best-selling dishes.

Arugula Salad. A fresh mix of arugula, cherry tomatoes, and walnuts, topped with a poached egg. The lemon vinaigrette dressing and balsamic reduction worked well to balance the bitterness of the arugula.

Eggs Benedict. Poached egg and bacon with hollandaise sauce and instead of the usual muffin or bread, it was served on a bed of crispy puff pastry. I am not a fan of eggs ben but this one made me reconsider. The puff pastry adds an interesting bite and the hollaindase sauce’s mild tartness sits well with the palate.

Blackened Chicken. If there is anything I would go back to Maple for, it’s this dish. The grilled cajun chicken breast tends to be on the dry side, but pair it with the creamed spinach and a spoonful of their flavorful dirty rice and you’re all set. Very filling and worth it for its price.

Prime Rib Tapa. Another favorite. You can choose the doneness of your rib and how you want your eggs. There are three varietes of dipping sauces to choose from but I found that the spiced vinegar works best to complement the sweet rib tapa. Costs 530 and already served with rice - very bang for your buck.

For dessert, we were served their Apple Pie with Streusel Topping and a side of vanilla ice cream. Can hardly taste the apples and the filling consisted more of gelatin? Not much of a fan.

The staff were friendly, interactive and very, very courteous, making our overall dining experience a lovely one. Its location may be out of the way for some but the food and the ambiance is certainly worth the detour.

There’s no better way to break the ice with new foodie friends than bonding over a meal. A good meal. I was invited to a Looloo event and although I was shy at first, the food and setting really brought us together.

We got to try several highlights from their menu -

Arugula Salad - I recommend ordering it if you want to start your meal with something fresh. The poached egg was a nice touch although I have to be honest I had hoped it would be burrata instead (they look alike!)

Eggs Ben - I’m not a big lover of eggs benedict so this initially did not appeal to me. But I tried it and that puff pastry makes a whole load of difference in this texture and taste. Definitely a dish to try if you’re an Eggs Ben Fan.

Chicken with Dirty Rice - there’s a lot happening on this plate between the Chicken, Cajun Rice, Creamed Spinach and Fried Kangkong. But this was one of my favorites. It’s mildly spicy thanks to the Creole seasoning but balanced nicely with that creamed spinach. SO GOOD. I can eat that aaall daaay.

Prime Rib Tapa - I was pleasantly surprised to find that this dish was much cheaper than I thought. For less than P600 you get a HUGE steak, two eggs and a heaping plate of rice. I kid you not, this thing is ginormous. Must order.

Apple Pie - would have been better if it was warm with more apples (instead of gelatin) and a larger scoop of ice cream. Try a different dessert.

Maple Country Iced Tea - Lovely presentation with the orange peels. Generous pour too. I enjoyed this.

Overall a really good dinner at Maple. I went when it first opened in 2012 and since then I’ve always loved its neighborhood cafe feel. We need more of those in Manila. I’m glad that 6years later it still has that comfortable, homey vibe. I will be back.

I was invited for another Looloo Rendezvoos at Maple restaurant in San Antonio Plaza, Dasmarinas Village, Makati City.

I've always known Maple as the breakfast place to go to when in the McKinley Road/San Antonio Plaza area. The place also has that early morning breezy atmosphere, perfect place to hang out before or after hearing mass at the nearby San Antonio de Padua Church. The place boasts of a beautiful, simple interiors. Posh couch sitting on one side of the restaurant for families with kids in tow. Try to have early dinner there to catch the glowing afternoon sun bid goodbye. Although an original concept they also have Pancake House favorites on the menu which is a plus, Best Tacos anyone?

We had the following best selling items from Maple's extensive menu.

Arugula Salad - fresh arugula greens serves as the bed of the perfectly poached Egg. Topped with crunchy walnuts and juicy cherry Tomatoes. I love the peppery taste of the arugula. The balsamic reduction has the mild salty sweetness that complimented with the greens.

Eggs Benedict - beautifully plated dish of Eggs on top of a crisp puff Pastry. I love the choice of puff Pastry instead of the Traditional muffin as Maple's choice of Bread. Gives it that light but indulgent feel to the whole dish. The hollandaise sauce is smooth and creamy.

Prime Beef Tapa - a winner priced under 600pesos. Ribeye Steak, Marinated and seasoned Tapa-style, Served with two Eggs (any style to your liking) and a bed of White Rice. The Tapa is soft, flavorful and good enough to share!

Blackened Chicken - soft, Tender Chicken breast on top a bed of flavorful dirty Rice - creole flavors makes this dish appealing to diners who want bold flavors.

Apple Pie w/ Streusel Topping - heavy Apple Pie with soft stewed Apples in a soft flaky Pie crust. The vanilla ice cream scoop adds a cool creaminess to the dessert.

Staff are knowledgeable of their products, they are also friendly and quick on their feet, i appreciate that they kept on refilling my glass of water without me asking. The House Blend Iced Tea was also a refreshing summer drink. The Max's Group has long acquired Maple, as part of it's massive expansion and growth of their restaurant portfolio. Maple has positioned itself as the go to breakfast place in the Makati suburbs of Forbes Park to build long lasting family Memories just like Pancake House in the 80s and 90s.

I'm running out of breakfast place around Makati that doesn't just offer sweets since not everyone is into cakes and pastries for breakfast so I have to compromise and checked looloo a good place and found Maple. First time to try this branch and a good place to inspire yourself to work harder since most of the cars going around are luxury cars dropping and picking up people either getting coffee from Starbucks or just buying from Rustan's. I was like. "O ikaw na mayaman, ikaw na naka Porsche, ikaw na tatlo yaya, ikaw na naka sports car" walang katapusan inggit.

Going back!

Tried their Prime tapa which is really huge and tasty. Had it medium well and it is really tender juicy. This can be shared for 2 and priced at 520. Their Eggs ben is also good but doesn't compliment much with croissant bread making it very light and bitin. Their blueberry and cream pancake tower is just amazing. Aside from being picture perfect, generous amount of blueberries and the fluffiness of each layer of pancake is on point, You don't even have to put syrup and it is already delicious as it is.

Servers are english speaking! Probably trained to do so because of the market they are serving. Even if I talked to them in Tagalog they still respond in English. Susyal! 128541

Had a good breakfast with a good view of San Antonio Church on the foreground.

I like beef tapa and I just tried this massive sized prime rib tapa that is good for two already, juicy and fork tender. This is on the sweet side though but it worked well.

Had lunch here after a wedding ceremony at santuario de san antonio church. Maple is located at the 2nd floor of san antonio plaza and walking distance from the church.

Teemee T and i ordered the ff:
*Eggs benedict - 2 pcs of eggs, some bacon, 2 puff pastry breads and some weird soury, vinegary sauced was mixed into it. I didn't quite like the soury, vinegary sauce but most of it was on the plate. I think the taste of the sunny side egg, sweet, semi crispy bacon and puff pastry bread overpowered it.

*solo truffle pasta - the smell and after taste of the truffle was not very strong, not so much sauce either. It was just like eating a regular mushroom carbonara pasta. But still delicious.

I wanted to order waffle but it wasn't available that time.

We got to San Antonio a little past 9 pm on a weekday. Usually, at this time, restaurants would be closing/are already closed because not a lot of people eat out late on a weekday. However, we were pleasantly surprised that Maple was still open.

The place is a bit small for big groups and I can imagine that it can get noisy if the place fills up. Thankfully, when we were there, there were only a couple of people and the place felt very inviting (then again, maybe because apart from Starbucks, it was the only open restaurant that we saw that time in the area). I ordered their famous Prime Rib Tapa and I was surprised at how good it turned out to be. Don't be deceived by the word tapa, because it will come out looking more like a steak than the breakfast tapa that we are used to. It was cooked perfectly for my taste-- in this case, medium-- not much blood but still very tender. Don't worry because they'll ask you how you want your "tapa" to be cooked (medium rare, medium, well done, etc). I understand that a "tapa" for a little over 500 pesos is a bit pricey, but I honestly think you should consider it to be closer to being a steak than a tapa. Also, the quality and the flavor of the meat makes up for the small premium that you have to pay. All in all, I enjoyed my experience in Maple, from the ambiance to the good "tapa" that they served me at that hour. I would definitely go back to try more of their dishes! #loolooexplorerpackgiveaway

I splurged tonight on a very delicious-sounding pasta. 500+ got me a truffle and prosciutto pasta that went very well with a crunchy piece of bread. It sure was expensive but it was nice to eat at a place with a Magnificent view of the San Antonio church at around 6 pm when the sun was setting.

Post-training meal

Food was good naman. Servings were reallllyyy bjg. But it was quite expensive for just simple dishes. Service was really slow.
I got the Stuffed French Toast (via they ran out of Eggs Benedict gdi) & it was good. Wasn't too sweet, but since it was so big it was kinda nakakaumay.
+ I wanted a solid rice dish but wala :--(
Not a chibog place :-( HAHAHAHLOL

I recommend sharin dishes & doing this family style!!

Lesson learned: don't go here unless ur with ur mother so that she can pay for everything. Looool jk

The place is solemn and their interior is classy. Nice ambiance if you're having a breakfast. Fish Tacos was rich in flavor and Truffle Omelette Souffle was so good and it was thick and full of stuff. Foods were hefty and has big servings. For a sweet endings, we had the Apple Pie streusel topping, it was so sweet but manageable, if you have a sweet tooth you'll appreciate the sweetness but it should be for sharing or else you'll fed up on its sweetness.

Nothing starts the day better than a hearty meal. We’ve been meaning to try out restaurants around Makati. Since it was a long weekend, we gave it a go. It was a nice Friday morning when we went here. We ordered the following – Savory Country Pancakes and Blueberry and Cream Cheese Pancake Tower.

Savory Country Pancakes - we were supposed to order the Eggs Benedict but it was not available at the time so they suggested this dish instead. As you would expect from the people who brought us Pancake House, the buttermilk pancakes were light and fluffy. The combination of Canadian ham, cheddar cheese and hollandaise sauce brought a delightful play of flavors. Topped with bacon and sunny-side up egg, this dish was very satiating. I can’t identify any weak points except for the bacon strips, some of which were crispy and the rest were not. Who am I kidding? Crispy or not, I still love bacon. :D

Blueberry and Cream Cheese Pancake Tower - this was just average for me and my girlfriend, Yna. The pancakes were light and fluffy as well. Although there was a generous amount of blueberries, there was hardly any cream cheese on them. We both prefer the savory pancakes over this.

Maple has a small interior but it speaks “high-end” all over it. It can seat around 27-30 people at time. We called first thing in the morning to make a reservation for 9 am and asked for a table beside the window. When we arrived at exactly 9 am, we were very disappointed because all the window tables were taken. It’s a good thing the food made up for that. Prices lie on the high side but make up for the generous portions as each of the dishes we ordered could serve two people. The staff was friendly and very professional.

All in all, Maple is a great breakfast place. Yna and I will definitely try other gourmet breakfast dishes, especially the Prime Rib Tapa.

Found myself another nice breakfast place! Had breakfast at Maple in San Antonio Plaza and found everything to my liking. Well, almost everything.

I had myself the Country Omelette and was pleasantly surprised at the size of the dish. The omelette had a healthy amount of mozzarella cheese drizzled over it. Aside from being served with a perfectly toasted and buttered piece of bread, it came with ample crunchy French fries which were perfectly cooked and salted/seasoned. I enjoyed my dish tremendously.

My companions, on the other hand, ordered the Eggs Benedict, which I also had the benefit of tasting. Aside from the presentation being appetizing, the portions were again hearty. More importantly, the dish was delicious, with the smokey flavor of the bacon standing out. The dish also came with the same crunchy French fries they served with their omelette.

And what would a breakfast place be without pancakes?! We had the Blueberry Cream Cheese Pancake which again was an ample dish. It’s difficult to make pancakes stand out from other pancakes but Ine thing's for sure, Maple does not scrimp on its ingredients. Ample cheese, ample butter, ample syrup, and ample pancakes! Nice!

The place itself is clean and nicely appointed. Bright, not overly decorated and not overly simple, just right. It also had a nice view of the Sanctuario de San Antonio. The only drawback I noticed was that it gets pretty warm near the wide windows on a hot sunny morning. That said, better to stay in the inner tables which would still have a nice unobstructed view of the church anyway.

Certainly a place worth visiting again!

It is really nice to have this place closer to our workplace so that we can get our tummies a much deserved breakfast after staying in office for like 12 hours or more. I had prolly I guess the heftiest they have, from the name itself you would prolly come to the idea that it's the biggest. The BIG Maple Breakfast. You can have it with either Belgian Waffle or any pancakes of your choice. I had Belgian Waffles for any reason. I have so much love for Bacon so i saved it for last. I tried their Belgian Waffle first, well just like any other usual Belgian Waffle, there is no something special in it. Maybe you'd prolly get overwhelmed because of its giant size. Aside from that, there is none. Sausage is good, it's a bit longer and bigger than that of IHOP's. Eggs just like the usual. Fries are good. And the Bacon, whoaaaa it's heaven. Ambiance wise, it's perfect. You'll feel a fine dining place with the richest people since it's within the vicinity of Forbes Park and Dasmariñas Village where the richest people in the Phillipines live. Staff, they're very accommodating and classy. Overall it was really a nice experience!

Warning: Servings are hefty that 1 order is already good for two persons!
