Stayed for 3 nights. Thankfully we still had a room reserved for us even though our flight was cancelled 3 times.
Cleanliness is really good. Condition of Marfel Annex is quite good too. Stayed at room 5 and had a private bathroom. The water pressure is quite low but that's expected in an island. There's a honesty store in the shared kitchen. There are also bikes for rent. We loved the hammock by the hut outside.

Stayed August 2015, traveled with friends

Gonna do some major backlog here from my recent trip to Batanes. With no internet access (and an intentional one at that), there were so many sights that needs to be shared here. So let me start with this...

During our 4 day stay at Basco, we decided to go for this lodge. We were four at that time, and decided to go for their bedroom good for four w/personal bathroom. I think we were the only ones who got that kind of room as others used the shared bathroom. Though it was communicated that we stay there for 4 nights, there was a mix-up as they thought we were leaving on the last day. They did manage to arrange things (transferred us to the other room w/shares bathroom) and even gave us a refund. The honesty coffee shop concept was applied here too as you can grab food from their mini-store, log your bought items, and pay. No cashier on this one! Pure honesty and self-service! The staff were kind too and very accommodating (though sometimes, the reception is left all by its lonesome self). You could usually talk to them either morning or evening. And did I mention that they have vans to drive you to and from the airport? The airport was just mere walks away yet they offer that kind of service.

Overall, I would still rate this with a 5 despite of some misses. I guess it's the style of living here where everything is just plain chill. And yeah, being here feels very much at home. 127969

If you're looking for a budget-friendly place to stay while in Basco, then you've come to the right place.

5minutes from the airport. 5-10mins from the market. 5-10mins from the city proper. 5-10mins from the pier for the faluwa ride to Itbayat. 10-20mins to Naidi Hills. Well, it will depend on your mode of travel - on foot, bike, or trike. But basically, Marfel's Lodge is right smack in the center of Basco.

A two-story house with 2 rooms, kitchen, dining area, sala (upstairs and downstairs), terrace and a mini-garden. Security is also ok.

A fan room can accomodate as many as 6 persons and costs 350/pax. Our room had 1double bed and 1single bed plus mattresses. They also give towels and soap. What I like most is that each room is assigned a CR.

You can use the kitchen and all the cooking stuff that other people left behind... Somewhat, finders keepers but on a pay it forward scheme. If you buy stuff, make sure you have some extra that you can "contribute" to the kitchen. They don't charge extra for the use of the lpg. Plus, they have a supply of purified water.

There's a sala with TV and Cignal cable downstairs and another sala and a terrace upstairs where you can see the Basco lighthouse in the horizon, Mt. Iraya and all incoming and outgoing planes. There's even a desktop that you can use. Yes, they have wi-fi.

No need to worry about getting hungry in the middle of the night as they have their own version of the Honesty Store. They also rent put japanese surplua bicycles at 25php/hour.

Ate Fe and Ate Jihan will cater to your every need and is a text/call away if you need anything and they are not around. They visit in the morning and in the evening to check on things. They can also recommend/arrange tours for you if you're not yet booked or you're not the DIY type.

I will definitely stay at Marfel's again if and when I'm in Basco. 128077
