One of the most memorable events in my life the past months was my best friend's wedding celebration last May 14. It was a really beautiful union where she finally got married to her long time boyfriend of 9 years, aaah, love!

Anyway, enough of the cheesiness. This review is actually about our stay at Marikina Hotel, night before the wedding, the wedding day too.

Located near Marikina Heights, Marikina Hotel is one of the few legitimate hotels in Marikina as others are in the likes of inns, condotels, villas and resorts.

As the wedding will happen in a garden at Marikina Heights, we decided to stay there to avoid the hassle of meeting up and all that during the wedding day.

We got 3 rooms for the important groups -- 1 double deluxe room for me and the bride, another deluxe room for the bridesmaids and another triple standard room for the groom and his men.

We did a reservation a week before the check-in date and I called at around 12 midnight and I was glad to have talked to a very accommodating front desk officer. Too bad I forgot his name. He took all my concerns nicely and was very polite with all of my queries. He even pushed me to bring senior citizen IDs as to get discounts for the rooms that we'll be getting.

I stayed in a double deluxe room with my best friend and it was actually huge for its price. For almost P3,000, the room had a queen sized bed, a sofa, a television, a make-up counter and two comfort rooms -- a washroom and the shower area. It can actually accommodate more than two people and based on my observation, can have 2 other extra beds that will fit comfortably.

The only concern though was they didn't have a legitimate restaurant inside the hotel as it recently closed. Good thing they have a convenience store that serves quite decent food and they do room services and deliver almost any other item that you need including toiletries and the likes.

More than the accommodation, the hotel has nice sceneries, spots and locations where a lot of photo shoots happen. The day of the wedding, we had our photo shoot at the hotel grounds and in fairness, the photos looked really good and nice. You just need to add P500 as the photo and video corkage fees.

Marikina Hotel is actually a good place to stay at if you have events within the area of Marikina. For a staycation, I guess it's not that much of a good choice because you couldn't do anything there, no swimming pool, gym, etc. It's simply a good place to sleep at for meetings, celebrations, etc.
