When you get invited to the Marriott Grand Ballroom - first thing to remember is that it's another building apart from the main Marriott Hotel in Newport City. It actually has its own parking as well!

I'm guessing that this was one of the biggest ballrooms (A & B together) I've ever been in locally as the place was spacious enough to accommodate 170 tables of 10 for the wedding across the 2 ballrooms. Perhaps if they chose to compress it a bit, it can fit 100 tables per ballroom.

Going up will need escalators or the elevator which does need a bit of walking since the place is humongous. The food that was served for us for the night was a full lauriat and yes - the food was pretty good!

Why I'm not giving it 5 stars is perhaps because of the small things but these things nonetheless matters as they still are part of the experience. Parking while generous in the number of slots, should have more exit lanes which does not compress into 2 lanes only. The place even had a stoplight a few meters away from the exit. Leaving the parking took a full 30mins!

To make things a bit worse, the drive way to the lobby is supposed to be 2 lanes as well, but the entrance is curved so the cars passing hug the curb, that if 1 is waiting on the inner lane, nobody can pass on the outer lane. Consider that during that night, there were at least 1500 guests - it was chaos when the reception ended.

Leaving the parking and going to pick up your wife at the lobby took way too long! It wouldn't hurt to plan the place properly if you really plan to accommodate that much guests. Sadly, I've noticed that this seems like the norm for Megaworld developed locations.

I was here for a business workshop (no chance would I come down here at my own expense 128561) and their lunch buffet was amaaaaazing! I remembered eating gnocchi for the first time. I often see this cooked at Masterchef, but never had a chance to make or taste one.
What made me really shrieked in this one hour lunch buffet is their dessert bar --- which I ensured I'm seated close by. Apart from the fresh fruits, my appetite was focused on these three pastries --- banana cake, tiramisu and chocolate cake. They all taste superb! I loved how each of the mini cakes were not sweet, allowing me to eat more than 1 piece!
The wallnut on the banana cake was a good addition to have that crunchy texture.
The tiramisu is heavenly! It's creamy. It's milky. The hints of coffee didn't overpower the cake.
The chocolate cake is really fudgy and bittery, which is perfect because I don't like to eat my cake that spells SUGAR.

I got to attend the Philippine Wedding Industry Ball last November! We had a special set menu that night that consisted Salmon as the entree. In all honesty, I was expecting more. But all in all, it was great and a nice experience. (^^,)
