We were 15ft away from the kiosk when the manager suddenly openly screamed, "Hi! Welcome to Mary Grace! Table for two?" I was in a peppy mood so I obliged and screamed back YES!! despite my initial plans of not eating there. I've never eaten here before so it's safe to say that my first time has been off to an interesting start!

It was brunch time so we decided to try their Pasta Amatriciana with Italian Meatballs, Cream Cheese and Artichoke Heart Dip, Apple Pie a la Mode and Wild Raspberry iced tea. For the pasta, they allow you to choose the type of spaghetti so we went with angel hair.

The dip was served immediately while the other dishes took approx 10-15 minutes. The servers were very attentive though and kept coming back to speak with us to ensure that we had everything we needed.

On to the food, the dip was nothing spectacular. Tasted like artichoke hearts mixed with cream cheese minus the spices that usually give these things an oomph. The pasta with meatballs were really good. They were served with three meatballs instead of the two advertised which is a pleasant surprise! It tasted like your usual red sauce pasta but there was a feeling of home that I was able to associate it with that made me enjoy it more. Lastly, the apple pie. I'm not much of a desserts person because I lack a sweet tooth but I enjoyed how it was just filled to the brim with apples and the cinnamon was more of an afterthought rather than being overpowering. It's something I'd recommend to my dad whose an apple pie man.

If you love white chocolate then this is the drink for you. The drink tastes like melted white toblerone. If you find it a bit too sweet for your taste, its ok to add hot water. It is rich and thick enough so it won't lose its flavor. Perfect with ensaymada of course!

BEST TIRAMISU EVER. Super moist, just the right amount of sweetness, not overpowering. I really recommend Mary Grace's tiramisu to everyone. Highly recommended to oldies (hihi) as well especially those who are not into sweets. *wink wink*

Good for gifts and even dessert take outs, known for their ensaymada and cakes... I would definitely recommend their 9994CHEESE ROLLS, soft bread with sugar on top and a cheese stick inside 128077

Fudgy, thick, dark chocolate cake that definitely hits the chocolate pastry craving. Three layers of dense chocolate cake, layered with a thick caramel icing, and covered with a thick fudgy dark chocolate frosting.

After enjoying Ms. Polly's Chocolate Cake just a few days ago, I was again craving for some good chocolate cakes. Not the fancy kind, but something good and mid-priced. I was in Shangrila already and didn't like the hassle of driving all the way to Galleria for a fix. I remembered reading the review of Lea A about Mary Grace's awesome Chocolate Cake. And good enough, they had a kiosk at Shang.

Mary Grace has been my source for Cheese Rolls (perhaps the best in town) and Ensaymadas. I haven't tried any of their cakes yet.

I like the fact that they give customers a choice on serving size for their chocolate cake. They sell it by the slice, a mini version , and a huge version. I try to avoid buying sliced cakes for home consumption. They usually dry up by the time I eat the pastry.

I got the mini version. It's about 6 1/2 inches in diameter (generously serves 4). Not bad for 375. First thing I noticed, the boxed cake was heavier than I expected!

The pastry was good! The cake itself was densely packed but not dry. The caramel filling, nicely buttery and generously layered between the 3 stacks. The chocolate fudge icing, thick and rich. It was a "packed" cake that was not overwhelming.

The difference between Mary Grace's and Ms. Polly's--first the size. Ms. Polly's has 2 layers, Mary Grace's 3. The cake-Mary Grace is dense and packed, Polly's is moister. The chocolate frosting- though both are dark chocolate frosted, Mary Grace's version is lighter in chocolate flavor, Polly's has a "darker" chocolate taste.

So which version do I prefer? I'm happy with both and don't mind buying either. The only edge for me with Ms. Polly's is that their version has a closer nostalgic flavor of the Cookie Monster chocolate cake that I used to love some years ago.

Recommended to all foodies who enjoy fudgy chocolate cakes!

It's my erpat's birthday today! Pakaluma lang ng erpat. Great excuse to buy my favorite Mary Grace chocolate cake for him. Wala syang choice, ako naman bumili noh! Hehehe!

This is actually his cake #1 coz my sister bought another one. I'll review that next.

What I like about MG's chocolate cake is it's siksik but moist. The chocolate frosting is silky smooth & not too thick, and the creamy custard filling adds the right amount of sweetness. Yummers! This cake goes well with a cup of coffee or tea.

They also sell that cute happy birthday candle for P50. Free na lang sana. #Chipipay

Celebrity sighting: kim chiu. she's not as fayatola in person. weird, i thought people tend to look bigger on TV.
