A colleague brought these over and To be honest it wasn't any good. The rice was undercooked and I was really underwhelmed.

Korean and Japanese dishes at a very affordable price. I had miso ramen for only Php 105 and Korean ice cream for Php 50. This is one of the must-try resto within UP Diliman campus, found inside the UP shopping center. There are a lot to be spotted there as well! :)

Sorry, no food pics!

My errands took me to UP today and I was starving! I had my usual fish balls and kikiam, but I wanted to try something new... I got the Kimchi Kimbop (am I saying it right? I'm not too good with Korean food, sorry!), which tasted okay for me... What I liked the most was the fact that they serve Melona!128513 yey!!! They sell it for P30! I love the Melon flavor so I had to indulge!10084️ happy day!128077

What I didn't like? They don't issue receipts?! What is up with that?!?!?! 128548 with the BIR crack down on clinics (even newly set up ones, hello!!!), I can't believe that they let this place get away with it... (read= LAGAY)

If they could pay a little more attention to cleanliness and personal hygiene of the staff my rating would be star higher. Ordered their cheese and gyoza Katsu, it was meh.

Their beef bibimbap is really worth it, and tastes great, comparable to other restaurants but at a cheap price. (I think only mr kimbob's bibimbap rivals this at this price point).
Also, this place is the only place near UP that I know that serves cheese ramyun at 105php. I know it's possible to simply buy ramyun, and add cheese, but for the hassle or what, i prefer buying it here.

I am a fan of japanese food, but I guess this place is more liked for its Korean offerings. (Usually, the bread crumbs they use for katsu etc are inferior quality for me.. Not so crunchy, and it's quite hard)

As part of our food ventures yesterday, we get to try this Japanese place where my nephew brought us.

Tempura Curry, Tonkatsu curry and Gyudon beef bowl are what we ordered. Total of 375 pesos. Fast service. Also fair enough for value and taste.

Cool sorrounding filled with UP studes made us feel young again.128539

I particularly love these orders from Mashitta. Try these two, they're the best! Especially the one on the left, whatever it's called 128513

I am not quite familiar with Mashitta because my brother only brings home these, but it's a Korean/Japanese Restaurant and I love both cuisines. I've heard good comments about it too. Let's go try some of their other offerings! 128523

I just love the miso soup (Php 25). The prices are a bit cheaper compared to other Japanese-Korean establishments. The venue is quite generic cozy considering it is a stall in the UP Shopping Center. Their noodles are real great when its time for some heating during the cold weather. And, their bibimbap and other rice meals are worth your money!

Cheap thrills? Well UP Shopping Center is the answer.

Bought kimbab/kimbap here several times and dined in twice. Super love the variety of their kimbab. My top 3 are Cheese Kimbab, Egg Roll Kimbab and Kimchi Kimbab. Cheap and satisfying! However, do not set high expectations with their ramen. That one in the picture was Gyoza Ramen. Wasn't able to finish the gyoza included since I didn't like it at first bite. Soup and noodles were okay but very "instant-ish".

And of course the fishballs in the picture are not from them but you can always buy outside the shopping center and bring them in if you want some appetizer. Haha!

Will try their Japanese next visit. (I always say that but I always end up buying kimbab. haha!)

as far as hole in the walls go, UP is chocfull of them. one of the lesser known ones, beside rodic's is mashitta. it's a japanese-korean restaurant with food prices ranging from 80-150 bucks.

i wanted to get the okonomiyaki but they ran out for some of their japanese dishes that night so i got the egg kimbab and teriyaki bibimbap.

the food was alright to get you your fix, nothing too amazing though, but for a quick fix in UP, i guess this'll do.

Pangga bought beef bulgogi take out today. It doesn't taste like bulgogi at all but it tastes good for a beef stew. Generous serving, lots of vegetables, meat was tender. Not bad for 120pesos.

At the start of summer, Grace G and I decided to check out the relatively "new" restaurants in UP. New for us because we've been in UP since the late 1980s so our regular places them would be Rodic's, Mommy Thai, Gloria's, lutong bahay, etc.

Past few years we've heard new places like Long Island, some new stores in SC.

Mashita is one of the new stores in SC. We haven't even noticed it before til I saw it listed on looloo nearby (we live near SC).

So today we checked out Mashitta. Before eating, we set our parameters, we asked ourselves: if we are undergrad students, will we spend our parents' hard-earned money on this? Will the serving be enough to give us energy for class?

We ordered chap chae to share. It was enough for both of us, good serving size for the huge appetite of teenagers. The taste: nothing to rave about. Just like sotanghon just slightly sweeter. Instead of beef, they used processed meat (looks like kikiam, not so sure). It was just 90 pesos so we didn't expect too much. I suppose it's good enough for a student meal.

The place is small and hot, not unlike most of the restos in SC.

Will try the oyakudon next time.

Hope you don't mind Chef Grace G in the photo w/ food, she insisted :)
