Last weekend, I and hubby are invited to the 4th Batangas Food Festival and it was held here in Matabungkay Beach Hotel. Since it's a 2-day event, they gave us a free overnight stay in one of their deluxe room.
Upon arriving at the resort, we were welcomed and greeted by their friendly staffs and they even gave us some welcome drinks.

Their reception, lobby area and their restaurant are just in one place. It looks like a big Bahay Kubo and with lots of kawayan or wooden furnitures, it surely gives a tropical ambience to the place.

After check-in, we went to our designated room. The room was huge and spacious. It has a double bed and a single bed that could fit a family of 4. It also has the usual amenities and complimentaries that a hotel room should have.

We also toured some of their rooms and villas. We particularly liked their water villas. It's an overwater bungalow that has two double beds, a very nice bathroom, a veranda and a jacuzzi at the back of the villa. These villas cost P18,000 a night.

The resort has 3 pools, a big pool near the main accommodation building that has a pool bar on the side and some pool chairs. The other two pools are located near their restaurant, one pool is for kids and the other one for adults.

The resort offers plenty of beach and water activities. You can rent a paddle board, jet ski, kayaks, and go snorkelling or diving. They also have a covered balsa which you can rent.

Their sand in the beach is nice, not that powdery though but at least it doesn't have plenty of rocks or shells scattered. The water at the beach is shallow and has a lot of moss. If you really want to swim at their beach you have to walk far just to get to the deep parts of the water.

Back to the resort's other facilities. They have a big space full of trees and plants where you can just stroll around and chill. The resort is also a great venue for team building activities. They have a rock climbing wall, a basketball court, an archery range, and obstacle courses. They also have a sports bar and gaming room where you can play billiards, darts and table tennis. Well, I think their facilities are more than enough to keep you entertained right?

For our food, we had their Batangas Food Festival buffet for our lunch and meryenda. For our dinner, we had their Batangas version of Chicken Tinola, Kilawin, Chicken and pork adobo and Buko Pandan. All the food we had was great.

To cap off our night, we headed to the beach for the Barikan by the Bonfire. Barikan means inuman or drinking session. The baristas made us different concoctions of drinks and cocktails that are made from some of Batangas Specialties. Like the Batangas Barako Coffee.

We chose to end the night with Chili Mojito. It’s a very refreshing drink with a little bit of kick of spiciness in it.

Our stay might be short but it was truly a fun-filled weekend with new cultural discoveries, sumptuous meals and a break from the busy city life.

So, if you want to relax and escape from the hustle and bustle of the metro, then consider staying here at Matabungkay Beach Hotel.

Cheap but a lot better than those seedy resorts in matabungkay, Lian, Batangas. The main building still bears the brutalist architecture of the 1970's. It has a new and bigger pool now. The rooms were updated but I can't still help but imagine Armida Sigiuon-Reyna singing "Aawitan Kita" on one of the hallways.
The food was good but not spectacular. The place overall needs serious upgrading.

Went here last week for our company summer team building with an expectation of "it will just be a normal kind if resort. The beach as usual in Batangas is not that nice so I just hope that they have a nice swimming pool."

Surprisingly, this resort somewhat succeeded my expectations! Knowing that the beaches in Batangas weren't really nice, that made me prepared for what kind of beach the resort had. Haha! For the 2 days and 1 night that we stayed there, I never saw a person swimming on their beach. 128517 Although the sunset is perfect!! 128076so don't forget to miss that! They also have a small area for a bonfire near the beach.

They have 3 swimming pools, 2 adult pools and 1 kiddie pool. On our first night, Tanduay had a pool event wherein they served unlimited drinks and snacks by the pool and a dj playing party music. Awesome Pool party! 128512128077 I'm not sure if it's a weekly event or we we're just lucky! Swimming pool facilities are until 12am with lifeguards. 128077

You can also play different kind of sports here. They have a basketball court, a net set up by the beach for beach volleyball, 2 billiard tables and 1 table tennis table. 128522

You will feel secured and welcomed here by their guards cause every time they see you they always give a friendly greeting.

The bedrooms were clean and their bathrooms were spacious (with hot water. Haha). This place is nice for team building activities since they occupy a big area.

Spent Labor Day here. The beach ain't beautiful anymore unlike 10 years ago, but the people were still as incredibly nice! Its like vacationing at your lola's house that happens to have a beach outside. Yun nga lang, the beach is obviously makalat na.
