headed here after visiting the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag..
so about the food, it's near the Tondaligan beach, so they serve the freshest seafoods in town, we had mixed sizzling seafood (serves 3-4! it has ample milk fish, squid, shrimp and some veggies), we also ordered squid inihaw and halo halo for dessert! yummy! also, you can see the beach across this resto.. after eating, we headed straight to the beach, and will writing the beach review soon

I spent part of my life in Dagupan, so trust me when I recommend the restaurants to go to. One of them is Matutina's Seafood Restaurant. It's been there for as long as I can remember. It is located in Bonuan, Dagupan.
Bonuan is a beach barangay. The beach is just across the restaurant and it has been there ever since. Although the old bungalow had closed, they do have a new building just right beside it. Fully air conditioned and ample space on the second floor for little parties.
Every DagupeƱo knows about Matutina as having the best seafood dishes in Dagupan. It had existed and endured the test of time. The food scene in Dagupan has finally started to become lively, and there are several restaurants opening up and making a name for themselves right now. But Matutina still reserves a spot in our hearts.
In fact, it's so popular, it has other branches in Luzon, like one in Tarlac near SM Tarlac and another bigger venue in Dagupan at the De Venecia Highway.
Let's check out the food. Like the name implies, their specialty is seafood! Especially since Dagupan is a thriving fishing village filled with fishponds and near the sea.
The top dishes to order are the Crispy Shrimp, Shanghai Bangus, Ginataang Alimango/Hipon/Tangigue, Sweet and Sour Lapu-Lapu, Buttered Talaba and Sizzling Gambas and Bangus, and the Kinilaw na Bangus. To be honest, everything on their menu containing seafood is yummy! And you can be assured of the freshness. Let us not forget the Crab Rice or Binagoongang Rice!
They serve these little coconut fingers, I forgot the proper name, as free appetizers per table. Don't forget to order the fresh buko juice still in the shell!
Here are a few pictures of the dishes we ordered!
The Crispy Shrimp is like these little shrimp chicharon where you can eat the whole thing, from head to tail! Just dip them in vinegar and chew on the crunch and crisp of the critters. Perfect with a cold glass of beer!
This kinilaw na Bangus is also really good with no fishy taste. I believe the fish was already cooked or steamed before kinilaw. It's not that spicy too! Another pulutan.
And finally my personal favorite, the Buttered Talaba/Oyesters! I have been trying to replicate the recipe for years now, and I believe I almost had it, but when I tasted this, I am rising to heaven once again!
We wanted to order crab rice but because there was the talaba and kinilaw, it would overpower the flavors so maybe next time!
If ever you are in Dagupan again, do have a visit.
By the way, during the Presidential debates held in University of Pangasinan in Dagupan, most of the delegates of the Liberal Party ate in Matutina. Just saying it's that good because they were referred there.
Don't forger to

we needed a place to stretch before hitting tplex so i chose Matutina's to eat at a place not found in Manila.
i loved the place. it was spacious and there are tables inside the ac room and smoking tables around the resto. parking was sufficient.
there were a lot of dining families last Saturday.
restroom was clean.
they give complimentary macapuno in the tables. it seems cheap macapuno candies but it was yum.
tangigue kinilaw was fresh though i would've preferred the vinegar taste to be stronger. fried bangus belly was crispy yum. tortang talong was good too. we cannot eat that much coz we would be driving 3 expressways in one sitting .
servers and guards were friendly.
a must go to resto in dagupan.

No other place compares for the freshest crabs cooked in buttered sweet spicy!
The crabs always comes out succulent, meaty and will follow what you ask for - male, female or in-between for the mix of meat and fat.
The trip to Baguio with a side trip to Dagupan will always have Matutina's as a stop.
Call to ask if there are still crabs, since it's a restaurant policy not to serve it if it's not fresh!

On our way to Our Lady of Manaoag Shtine, we stopped over at Matutina's for lunch. We ordered Inihaw na Malaga, which tastes just right, nothing special about it. Seafood Kare-kare that has a very strong taste of peanut butter, didn't meet my expectation. Pork Sisig, which was served on a sizzling plate topped with raw egg, I find it too salty. The service was okay, condidering it was peak of the day, though the food presentation didn't pass my standards. The food is not quite delicious for my palate either. Maybe I just didn't ordered their specialties, next time if I get a chance to be there.

this place gets really crowded esp on holidays.ppl traveling from the south pass by here to dine. their seafood are all good. the bonoan bangus is so delish, inihaw or sinigang! u just have to specify boneless! u can taste the difference of the bangus from those they sell in manille. :) prices are affordable!
we always dine here whenever we're north bound !

Matutina's Seafood Restaurant started out their restaurant business from humble beginnings. Dati, medyo maliit na kubo lang ito sa may Tondaligan Beach, na bahay din nila. Now, it's a two-story building! And, they have three branches already, two in Pangasinan and one in Tarlac! Galing ni Marlene, the owner!
Best place for seafoods! All-time favorites include Inihaw na Bangus, Halabos na Hipon, and Inihaw na Pusit. Trust me, been eating there since I was a kid!
