Been curious for this sweet treat. So when I had the opportunity to try it, I get to spend P95 for big cup and I am quite excited. Seeing the long queue gives me the impression that this can be a good one.

Maxi Mango has a tedious preparation. And frankly, the treat is so enticing. Sadly, as I scoop my spoon and tasted it, i was disappointed. No creamy taste, and its so sweet! Its like a caramelized sugar. Sliced mangoes are quite sour, but since I don’t want to waste my money, I finished the mangoes only.

Verdict: this one is so overrated.

Maxi Mango easily ranks as one of the most trending food brands this year! They are a blockbuster hit wherever they went- from various pop-ups, bazaars to now 2 permanent locations in Galleria and Mall of Asia. The queue time can go as long as 4 hours!

I was privileged enough not to line-up on this visit. I met the owner herself, Miki Arceo-Velasquez, the hardworking soul behind this revolutionary concept.

Maxi Mango’s ingredients are not mind-blowing. In fact, they use pieces readily available anywhere, even from your own home. They use ice cream, fresh mangoes, graham, and cream. This explains why copycats are now aplenty.

Maxi Mango does have a very competitive advantage over others, they are the first and more importantly, they use premium mango ice cream, concocted by them.

Currently, this stall can only whip up two items, due to space. They have the best selling Maxi Mango with all the fixings, and Mango Float, a cup of mango ice cream and loads of cut mangoes. Both are equally satisfying and affordable.

The reason for this strong appeal is still a real mystery. Maybe it’s Filipinos love for mangoes finally being unraveled or maybe it’s just hard work and a powerful idea blended perfectly together.
