Max's brings back a lot of memories of my childhood.

I remember the Saturdays my mom and I would drop my brother off to his math training in Santolan and go to Araneta Center, Cubao (all through LRT2). We would then wait for my father at Max's to have breakfast together. And that was seven years ago. Oh, how time flies so fast.

We went to Max's for lunch after my little brother's high school graduation. Despite being in a different branch, I couldn't help feeling nostalgic of those days I was carefree. So we ordered some of the food we usually get back then.

Fresh Lumpia ★★☆☆☆

I was disappointed at how meagre the serving is. Like, I finished this in less than four bites. Also, they just filled the roll with singkamas and not veggies.

Family Chicken Basket ★★★★★

Max's chicken is probably one of the best fried chicken in the country. (I especially love it with their worcestershire sauce and ketchup)! Mom likes getting the chicken basket instead of the whole chicken because she likes an all-thigh-and-leg set of chicken.

Will I be Coming Back?

Definitely! This is out to-go place when there is nothing we really want to eat at.

Ordered Arroz Caldo for lunch today.
Serving was quite small compared to others but It's just perfect for me and since it was priced at P109 only. What I liked about it is that they used chicken leg, which is my favorite part and it had a very flavorful taste.
Service was awesome! Once you enter, they ask for your name first which they probably encode in their POS so even if another staff serves your order, they'd still mention your name.
I have been eating at this branch for quite some time now so I wasn't surprised that the staff guessed it right what I was going to order.
"Good afternoon Sir Paul, let me guess, 1 arroz caldo and 1 bottomless sago't gulaman" :)

The Mother loves Max's Fried Chicken. I don't know. I don't get her. I find their Chicken Dry and bland. Only taste better with the help of the Ketchup I think. Anyway, Mother always have take outs of this. blah. 128535

We planned our surprise party for my Mom a day before, the crew and the manager is very approachable. They also have the initiative to always ask and check how is everyone. The guests are very well taken cared of. The food is distributed and prepared very well.

What's the first thing you think about when you hear Max's? Chicken!128035

What about the second thing you associate with it? For me, it's caramel bars!128525

Years back, this just came with the chicken meals... But then they saw the demand and that people love this treat... I'm happy that they started selling this separately, in boxes good for pasalubong...

This particular box came from my bf's patient as a thank you... Makes it taste sweeter!128522

I remember having breakfast in Max's Cubao every Saturday 6 years ago. My favorite was the above picture: Budget Meal with Garlic Rice.

BUDGET MEAL (169 Php)
Max's chicken is one of the best fried chicken I've ever tasted. I like how its skin isn't that thick and oily. Their macaroni salad is just as great. I really love the crunchy pimientos and carrots in it!

Because my little brother was craving for Max's fried chicken last Sunday, we decided to have lunch there.

We ordered:
Basket of Chicken
Sinigang na Bangus Belly
Sizzing Tofu
Crispy Pata

The chicken was great as always!
The sinigang was okay!
The tofu was also okay!
The pata was surprisingly GOOD. VERY GOOD.

I knew my mom & dad loves dining in at Max's restaurant everytime they had a chance...but since my dad has gone for almost 14 years now, i know my mom missed those kind of moments with him once in a while. So when we were in Banawe, instead of bringing her (again) to chinese restau ni hubby, we happily brought her here.

As we sat down and about to take our order, mom immediately said "paborito ito ng daddy niyo" (dialogue na nya yan! Huhu, missing dad tuloy) sniff!!

And so we ordered Half fried chicken,
ahh, always and forever 'sarap to the bones'!
Lumpiang ubod and Pansit Palabok/Luglug.

We all love their chicken, yes! But it seems like neither the three of us enjoyed the rest of our orders. There's nothing really special anymore.

But since the staffs are attentive, and for another one special moment with mom again, here's to you, 4 Looloo stars 127775127775127775127775

This review shall be dedicated to their triple chocolate champorado.

It was my friend Celina H., who made me wonder what their champorado was all about (she dedicated a looloo review just for their precious champorado). I mean, it's just champorado how could it be THAT good it's just like oatmeal with chocolate...

WAAAAAAH IT REALLY WAS GOOD!!!!! The rice just bursts once it enters your mouth! And unlike the instant champorado we make at home, you really won't feel the rice chilling on your tongue! Plus the choolatey goodness is just.. 128539128539128539128539 They also provide you extra milk but I found the champorado too good already for me to add more milk.

Out of the three items we ordered (Kare-Kare, crispy pata and champorado), I'd have to say that the bowl of chocolate heaven came in first place in the race to become America's Next Top Model. Chos. I guess they're consistent with their champorado, 'cause the karekare was a bit bland and the crispy pata lacked saltiness. Anyway this is for their champorado!!! Yammi talaga!
