Lola wanted to have dinner out on a Friday night and it was Max's or Hap Chan. We went with Max's since we just ate at Hap Chan recently.

The moment lola saw the Lumpiang Shanghai, she said she wanted that. We got the Thanksgiving meal which was good for 4 people.

The skin of the Fried Chicken was great. Some of the meat were dry so I smothered them in the banana catsup and Lea & Perrins mix. The chicken was chopped but nit totally cut through. They were still attached somehow.

The Pancit Canton was bland and we didn't bother finishing it.

Lola was happy with her Lumpiang Shanghai. It was tasty. I liked it better with my banana catsup and Lea & Perrins mix. The diluted dipping sauce that cane with the Shanghai wasn't that good.

The P999 meal came with rice which we upgraded to Garlic Rice and Iced Tea.

We shared a Dessert Sampler. Ube Creme Decadence was a light and creamy dessert filled with Ube Halaya and sprinkled with ube cake crumbs. They liked this the most. The Leche Flan was creamy but we've had better. The Cream Cheese Brownie a la mode was good. The brownie was rich and moist but I could not detect the cream cheese. The vanilla ice cream was creamy. They said the Buko Pandan was ok.

The servers seemed preoccupied and inattentive. We were very clear about the Garlic Rice upgrade but we were initially served plain rice. We kept on asking what the soup was made of since mom and lola didn't like cream/milk based soup because of tummy issues. We ordered the soup of the day but they served us Cream of Mushroom because they ran out. They didn't inform us or ask us. We didn't want to argue so we just got the soup. A pet peeve is when they start clearing the table when someone is still eating. They apologized and stopped when we pointed that out. The whole time we were there it felt like all of the seasoned servers were on vacation and the trainees were practicing on us. The good thing is they smiled a lot and were pleasant. They need to improve on product knowledge too as they could answer or describe the dessert sampler and the whole cakes that were for sale.

Max's is an old favorite and I really hope they improve on their service before our next visit.

The food's really satisfying. One of the best kare kare's I've ever tasted! Tho the chicken which happens to be their specialty was kinda plain to me.

Still a reliable Saturday family go to place even after all these years. When it comes to good Filipino food, Max's doesn't disappoint.

Yesterday morning my parents texted me "done with our seminar. Want to join us for lunch? our treat.". Usually I treat my parents so when they occasionally surprise me with a treat, how can you say no. 128525

Besides the fact that this place is near us, I like that they have ample parking space for their customers... Although it always gets full fast.

Service is impeccable, they get your name so they address you by name during your whole dining stay and they check up on you to see if your orders are aye okay. That's something I really appreciate 128079128077

The food isn't five star quality but it's really good anyway and gives you the bang for your buck. Got the ff:
✔️ fiesta plate
- there's something special about Max's chicken and when you mix it with their banana ketchup, it transcends a different level (relax Jp)
- the fresh lumpia's ubod core could've been better IMO (wish they heated it a little) but no complains as I finished it all up
✔️ pinakbet
- big serving at a reasonable price. Not super a fan of this dish but the parents loved it
✔️ sizzling tofu
- I love tofu in general, make it into a sizzling dish, I'm sold. Shut up and take my money!128514
✔️ chicken sisig
- by far one of my favorites in Max's. It's juicy, tender, and very savory. 128077

Overall it was a good dining experience. Quick service and good food. All for p645 for the 3 of us. No complaints here 128523

I'm forever a fan of their max's chicken with banana ketchup, lumpiang sariwa, chicken sisig, Ang sinigang na hipon. Good old traditional cooking.

Servers were very pleasant but quite some waiting time for the food. 128557

Overall, you get value for your money here.

We were seated at 1:30pm and our orders were immediately taken. But, lo and behold our orders for FRIED CHICKEN (which is supposed to be this establishment's banner product) hasn't been served UNTIL NOW (1 hour after). No, they are not that busy (which should not be an excuse for poor/late service), they just simply FORGOT to place our orders to the kitchen!!! Haaaaay!!! Sooooo unacceptable!!!

Didn't have plan of making a review about this place because I didn't have anything with me when we went here. No camera to take picture of the food/the place because Srgt. HP took us by surprise when he drove all the way down here last Sunday after the holy mass. I didn't brought anything aside from the 20 and 50-peso bills and my handy dandy BB. I just felt that I needed to do this so that Max's will know how awful the service in this branch is.

Ordered chicken sandwich, 2 orders of their tapa and 2 orders of daing na bangus. We were promised 15 minutes for the food to arrive. But, as usual and as per Sgt HP's timer, we waited for more than 20 minutes to have our meals (except for the sandwich). So, they served the sandwich, and since we do not eat while the food on the table is not complete, NGANGA! Ang lamig na nung sandwich. 128078 Srgt HP called the attention of the waitress named Grace and told her about how late the food was and that it's wrong to serve just one meal and let the other people on the table wait. She just made face and nod to us. Galeng. Not so amazing, Grace.

While waiting for the orders, there was a couple (aged like my grandparents) who got in the restaurant
(magcecelebrate ata ng grandparent's day). Few minutes later after they have selected their meal from the menu, their coffee was served, and then a group of people came in. Most likely mga 12 to 15 sila. Mga bisita daw ng isang unknown politician ng Taytay. I don't know her, pero madaming body guards. So, when Grace got their orders, their drinks followed promptly. WOW. And then, their meal was served. We noticed the old couple who picked their orders FIRST. We're done with our meals pero sila antay pa din. 128542 I heard lola said, "umalis na tayo, bayaran na lang natin yung kape!" She was really mad. Lolo said while they left the table "kanina pa kami, nauna pa yung madami!" They went to the counter of Max's bakery, the MANAGER was in the counter, he was standing there looking at the huge crowd, without noticing the frustrated couple beside him. They got his attention, but what he did is he went to the kitchen and called somebody to attend to lolo and lola. 128542 They paid for whatever they had, and Sgt Palma heard ate said "thank you ma'am! Balik po sila!!" And lola replied, "hindi na!" Insensitive ate?

After the meal, solve! Busog!!! 128076128513 almost forgot how Grace looked like when we made the follow up to our orders. When we got the bill, it was ate from the counter who handed us the receipt. Srgt. HP asked if she was the manager, she said no and immediately called the manager. He made some suggestions to the manager and he just said "thank you for the input sir, I felt bad nga when the customers left. We'll do that next time."

It only shows that they won't treat their customers fair. They had a politician in the restaurant, made sure that she was satisfied while some normal people who wants to have breakfast was taken for granted. This is horrible customer service. So sad for lolo and lola, bad start for their day! 128542

Mom's favorite restaurant. Special occasions usually celebrated here cause it's near the house and yummy. Though I wouldn't want to eat here every single occasion :))

So for last night as our Easter Dinner, we ordered the usual budget meals with the signature Max's chicken which we all know what tastes like (yummy) so I'm posting about dessert.

Max's Dessert Sampler about p200 consists of:

Buko Pandan: Personal dessert favorite here
Brownie Ala Monde: Just okay, can't eat the nuts though as I've just had my lower right premolar extracted :(
Leche Flan: It's too milky creamy, like a creamy maja blanca and lacks the usual sweetness of the melted sugar above it.
Ube Creme: Looks like another maja blanca with the same consistency as the leche flan, it's erm... I guess weird, I can't describe it.

Have a sample of each and you'll have a long release session in the bathroom the next day. I know, TMI, I'm sorry :))

Nothing still beats the good old caramel bars though.
