1st Day in Boracay today and my sister and I were really hungry. So I suggested that we go to Maya's. My sister ordered the OLD SCHOOL BURGER (P348.00) and I ordered the TENDERLOIN CHIMICHAGAS (P398.00). Price may be a bit high but they compromise with the serving size.

My friends were so hungry, so we went to the first breakfast place that had Pinoy breakfast food. I wasn't so hungry since I've been munching since the Manila airport. Split half of the chorilog with my friend. Really small serving! Not enough for a normal meal.

when you come back to a place for breakfast means they are good, when you come twice on the same week means something else. great fried adobo portions and bacon too... the only drawback is they don't serve water. breakfast nearest the sand and water. great ambience, tunes are nice too.

It's a bit confusing where Jony's Bar and Restaurant ends and Mayas begins. It's just one place, and there's no clear delineation except for the fact that the place has 2 separate signs & 2 menus (Mayas for food and Jony's for shakes). Jony's Resort's food also comes from here (we had our free breakfast here), so I'm not really sure why they had to have a separate name for the restaurant since the food all comes from the same kitchen. 128551

Anyway, aside from the shakes, we also ordered gambas. They were delicious! The oil it was drenched in was garlicky and spicy, the shrimps were nicely cooked and most importantly, they were clean! None of that black poo you usually see on the shrimp's spine.

A friend ordered onion rings too and it came with yummy tartar sauce. The onions were crisp and easy to bite into, and the batter was light and crunchy.

The food is a tad expensive (as I mentioned in my review for Jony's Bar and Restaurant): Php 300++ for the gambas and Php 200++ for the onion rings. Minus 1 star for that.

Another star to be subtracted for the restaurant double name confusion. Keep it simple, guys!

I wanted to order the chimichangas because the picture looked so good, but the steep price prevented me to do so. 128556 It costs Php 400++. Maybe I will order only their shakes next time.

How I discovered Jony's (or Maya's-- the name of their restaurant)...

During our 2011 Boracay trip, my friends Marco & Elaine invited us to hang at Jony's. I'm just not sure if we ordered beer, shake or whatever last time. All I remember are the photo ops and laughters that we shared when we were there. Wow, emo 128521

When we went back last year, 2012, I told the boyfriend that I haven't tasted Boracay's famous milkshake in a bottle. So we walked to station 1 and saw the sign "Jony's milkshake". I remember when I told him that we should try it since people have been raving about it. We got a table at Jony's and ordered for Mango (K's order) and Watermelon (mine, mine) shakes. After a few minutes our orders came and to my surprise it wasn't in a bottle. I even asked the server why did they serve it that way. He then told me that they don't put their shakes in a bottle. I was confused but then kept my cool since the shakes tasted really good and we find it cheap since their glasses are huge and their shakes are only Php80-100!

We enjoyed our shakes while chilling at the beach til we got hungry. The boyfriend was craving for Kilawin that time so that's what we ordered, plus another veggie dish if I'm not mistaken. They served their rice in a cute little kaldero that's just right for the 2 of us. Then came the much awaited Kilawin. It's super fresh and the vinegar is super yummy! Since then Jony's became our favorite Chill spot because of their food, shakes and relaxing view.

After that lunch at Jony's, we saw Jonah's milkshake. Ahhhh... Jonah's pala yung nasa bottle!!! Funny that until now I get teased for that mistake. 128521 WELL, I still prefer Jony's over Jonah's! It's sooo much better promise!

So during our recent trip, we visited our favorite to have our favorite shakes and favorite Kilawin. Oo na, favorite na namin. I saw the girl next to our table ordered tacos, and being the "jelly belly" me I wanted something like that too. I settled for Chicken Quesadillas, one of their best sellers, instead. It was sooooo good! So flavorful and so filling that I only finished half of it! Not being OA but it must be the best Quesadilla I've tasted. Wait, OA talaga ko in so many ways 128539

So whatever, funny but that's how I got to know the restaurant. Jony's or Maya's will forever be one of our favorites! 128513

After waiting for 40-50minutes because 3 long tables just arrived before us, they served our food which we ate in less than 15 minutes. The food was unremarkable. Their sinigang's pork tasted like it's right of the refrigerator. The pork sisig, beef salpicao and camaron rebosado was less than satisfying.

The only plus points are their serving of rice, the milkshakes and the ambiance. They serve it in little kalserderos. Each serving contains 1.5-2 cups of rice. Jony's milkshakes are somewhat at par with Jonah's. The ambience exudes class and it offers quiet refuge from station 2's bustle.

Great view of the beach while having a meal here at Mayas! Must try their Mayas Lechon Kawali. The best lechon kawali I've ever tasted in my life. Most of their food tastes really good and 1 order is usually good for 2 persons. Mayas is near Jonah's fruitshake at Station 1, Boracay.
