I grew up with McDonald's. It was my first experience of fastfood. My grandma often took me and my siblings at their branch along Quezon Ave. near National Bookstore. Back in the 80's, they had Hamburger not Burger McDo and they had milkshakes with strawberry, vanilla and chocolate flavors. Over the years McDonald's evolved with their menu. I worked there for 3 years as part of their marketing team from 1999 to 2002. Franchise of 3 stores owned by the Uy Family which later was turned over to Golden Arches after I left my McDoFamily. I had the time yesterday to try their new version of Chicken McDo. Settled for their Buffalo-Style 2pcs.. ahahaha yes I hate it when there's more rice than "ulam" or viand. So there, 2pcs. As my food was put on the tray, I could tell by the smell that the chicken was newly fried, meaning it hasn't been sitting inside the food warmer. And that sauce...it has "that" smell. I don't know by you guys but before I dive in to something...I look and smell it first. That smell of butter and vinegar and cayenne. It's not a pleasing smell to some but if you never had buffalo style wings before, it may put you off-guard. It was a shift supervisor who put my food on the tray. I told her "sana masarap" (hope it's good). She responded, "kanya kanya naman pong taste". Ahmmmm it was a so and so reply and I thought o-oh..she didn't like it but was too polite to say it to me. I remember back then there was a similar Chicken McDo version with Barbeque Sauce instead. Well that wasn't a hit so it was taken out of the menu. I have a thing for spice. For me it opens up all your taste buds and make it a more pleasurable experience for flavor. Overall, I was in the middle whether I would love the new item on their menu. I can say I like it but not rave about it. I guess if I were to redo the dish... I would sprinkle some chopped chives and have a side of sour cream with it. Well, that's just me. And instead of rice with it, I would opt for large french fries. 128525128536128525128536
