That grilled, juicy, tender and lean burger patty sized braised pork belly on our Super Chashu just won this foodie 10084 of mine, plus their Aji Tamago was purrfect!

What a lucky surprise in Makati when the unexpected drizzle led me walking to the building where Mendokoro Ramenba was. (My first time there.) Had their Tantanmen (P440) which was really rich and good. Something to come back for in Makati.

The best Tantanmen I've ever tasted.128076🏻

For me the best Ramen I've tasted in Manila, better than Ramen Nagi, Ikkoryiu, etc. Shoyu Tonkotsu Ramen the best. Order extra Chashu on the side. You will surely come back for more.

Finally, was able to try Mendokoro Ramenba! Had dinner here after my buffet lunch date at Spectrum. Well, there are a lot of restaurants in Makati, and I really want to try all of it! Hehe

My friend and I had Tantanmen, and Hiyashi Chuka Ramen. I must say, it was so good! One of the best ramen places I visited, we were lucky because we did not have to line up to get that delicious bowl of ramen, we were there at around 5pm. Heard the place gets really jam packed during lunch, and dinner time.

Mendokoro Ramenba is ramen joint located at the back side of V Corporate Center (same building where WildFlour and 8cuts Burger Blends is). The setup of their tables is a circular ramen bar good for 25 people. Once you enter you will be asked to order first before you get seated maybe because the number of chairs are very limited. For those who are interested to go here in groups, be sure to be patient as it is tricky to be get chairs immediately especially along side each other. Just in case all seats are filled, they have a waiting area for their customers.

They have 4 tonkotsu ramen flavors (Shio, Shoyu, Tantanmen and the Miso). Aside from ramen, they also serve Tsukemen and Cold Ramen. Tamago is sold separately at Php 90. Available sides will be the Gyoza which is usually paired with the ramen.

I ordered the Tantanmen during my last visit since I wanted to veer away from the usual Shio or Shoyu ramen orders that I had in the past. For those who are not familiar, a Tantanmen usually has a orange colored soup with a spicy flavor topped with ground pork. Serving size of Mendokoro's ramen is big but good for 1 person only. Their Tantanmen is just mild and not overwhelming in the palate which makes it easy to eat (especially if you are weak to anything spicy) and on it also has a really good flavor. The ground pork toppings also blended well with the the soup which made it more delicious that I almost forgot to eat their noodles. Their noodles on the other hand are wavy and were cooked medium/hard.

Based on my last visit, I can definitely say that I will be coming back for more Tantanmen ramen at Mendokoro. This won't be the last, I am very sure of that.

Nothing beats the awesomeness of this quaint ramen joint in the heart of Makati. Parking can be tricky, falling in line for an hour is, I tell you, ALL WORTH IT!

The restaurant seats only 23 people and upon entering you must order right away as lines can be long.

Menu is simple and straightforward. We usually order their delicious Shoyu Ramen. The broth is thick and the chashu is simply delish! The flavor just bursts in your mouth. So whenever you feel heartbroken or burnout, this must be your place of solitude. I'm not kidding 128516

We also ordered the gyoza which is just so-so for my taste.

A must try. The BEST ramen in the metro. Go try it NOW!!

So we tried this ramen bar deep in the heart of Salcedo Village which is literally a ramen bar with no tables. Feels like you're in Japan.

Their ramen is really good and heavy on the stomach. I loved the thick broth and soft noodles. The broth almost has the same taste and consistency as that of Ramen Yushoken. I ordered the Tantanmen (Php 440) which was moderately spicy (but I have high tolerance for spicy food). While it was sulit for the taste, I still can't help but feel that it's expensive. Ramen Nagi is of the same price range but I like Nagi better because of the customizable ramen (that's value added!)

I love the concept of this place however it can only accommodate 20 people at a time, so while you want to stay and chat after finishing your ramen bowl, the pressure of having people waiting outside could make it hard for you. 128514 Lucky for us though we went on a Monday night.

This review's a bit delayed because I forgot to transfer this one photo from my camera to my phone. 128517 #SeniorMoments

So I tried the one other item in Mendokoro's secret menu: Garlic Ramen.

I'm not a huge garlic fan, but I was willing to try this because Mendokoro's broth is so rich and flavorful, this might turn out to be a great one... But sadly, my taste buds didn't exactly dance when I had this one.

The garlic flavor is okay, it's not overwhelming to the point that I didn't want to finish the bowl. What disappointed me was the overflowing amount of veggies. 128528 Don't get me wrong, I eat veggies and I don't hate it. But it just felt a bit sad to have so much veggies as compared to the ramen and chashu. 128517

My sisters and I are crazy about ramen. And when my older sister, Unisse C, transferred to Makati for work, I knew I had a ramen buddy to visit the ramen placed here. 128111

PLACE
So my sister brought me to Mendoroko Ramenba 127836 since she's heard so much good things about it and of course I'm always game for ramen. We went there around lunch time and a bit early, which was good because after 30 minutes, there was already a line outside of the restaurant. The interior design, I guessed, was inspired by the authentic ramen houses in Japan where people sat on a bar table while watching their food get cooked. It was pretty cool. This place actually has the concept of a fast food and restaurant combined. You need to line up at the cashier where you order, pay, and receive your order slip and guest number before you get seated.

FOOD
The menu was actually quite short with only three kinds of ramen to choose from: Tonkotsu Ramen - Shio, Shoyu or Tantanmen, Tsukemen, or Hiyashi Ramen (Cold ramen). They have soba, gyoza and tamago too.

128680 Mendoroko Ramenba actually has a SECRET MENU: Super Chasu, Garlic Ramen and Bonito Tsukemen.

Anyway, I ordered Tantanmen (Php440) and my sister ordered Super Chasu (Php550?). We also ordered 5pcs gyoza (Php170) for our side dish.

The TANTANMEN was very good, 128077🏻 better than what I had expected. I personally love creamy broths and this has exactly that. It was definitely flavorful but not overpowering. Everything was great but I wished that it had more noodles in it.

I had a taste of the SUPER CHASHU SHOYU RAMEN's broth and chasu. I like the Tantanmen's broth better but the chasu was heavenly. 128069 It was super flavorful and gigantic! The chasu had grilled marks so I think this was cooked on the grill first. I don't know why, but the thing is, the chasu is super duper soft to the point that it just falls apart when your chopsticks sink into it. The only downfall to this ramen was that it did not have enough noodles. My sister noticed that she still had a huge chunk of chasu left when all the noodles already disappeared. 128517 Maybe I should order this one and bring a small tupperware to bring home my leftover chasu and eat it with rice at home (lightbulb moment!128161)

The GYOZA was actually great as well. My sister and I both hate that overpowering ginger taste so it was good that this did not.

Overall, this place is heavenly. This might be my top 1 ramen restaurant I've visited. Also, I forgot to mention that this place does not allow take outs since they want to preserve the quality and health aspects of their food.

Post Pokemon Hunting Meal!!! 128055

So one Thursday evening, we went Pokemon hunting around Salcedo Village. There's an area in front of the Picasso Building that has like 4 Pokestops always on lure usually 6-7pm onwards. 128514 Just standing there would give you tons of Pokemon already! Haha! 128514

We were planning on heading to Gino's for the night but when it suddenly rained so hard, we decided to just head into the V Corporate Center and cross over to Mendokoro.

Since I was starving, hello Super Chashu. To be honest, once you've tried this, it's hard to go back to ordering a regular shoyu or shio ramen. Maybe an occasional Tantanmen. 128541

Still love the huge chashu that's so flavorful and tender!! 10084️ Make sure to take out the chopped chili if you don't want to burn yourself with the spiciness! 🌶

Last week, my friend and I craved for some japanese food; the weather was not good back then so we decided to visit this place. We ordered their signature ramen nagi and gyoza. The ramen was a bit salty, but their noodles were good. I like their gyoza more because the taste is just fine. The place was neat and clean, it was located on a busy district of makati where the people from their work come here to eat. The seating arrangement here are rounded, (magkakatabi talaga kayo) in the middle of that is where the food was made. You can see how it will be done. Kaya nakakaexcite din makita, sayang hindi ko napicturan. Haha. Anyway, many people come here, kaya magmamadali ka kumain kasi people are waiting. Kaya imbes na magstay ka pa ng matagal, you'd rather finish and go na lang agad. For me, it's good but not so. Eat and go 128521

P.S Bawal take out dito. Some japanese restaurants pwede kasi e, nanibago lang ako. Haha.

Super Chashu Ramen FTW! My return to Mendokoro was to try one of the off-menu items. The three off-menu items had two ramen's with soup (super chashu and garlic) and one dipping ramen (bonito tsukemen). Certainly, with seeing Peanut D's review of the super chashu before, this was what I wanted to try (next time, it'll either be the Tantanmen or the other off-menu ramen, Garlic Ramen).

And wow, this sh*t is super good. The Uber sized Chashu is like a 1/3 burger patty that never ends. Twice cooked for that perfect charred sides and crunchy exterior. Yet super soft center. Is this heaven? I think so. The broth is still rich but not like the Miso I tried during my first visit. The shio (shucks or was it shoyu) base was pretty good. Though I wasn't expecting that, for the Super Chashu Ramen, they would put in red pepper slices that made the broth a bit spicy. So if you're not into spicy, ask them if they can remove these. I doubt it'll ruin the broth. Excellent experience as usual. The Ramen noodles were thicker than the ones I like, and was quite al dente. Maybe it would be better a bit softer. Still, the Super Chashu in itself was a runaway winner! 5/5

-1 for the still warm temperature inside. Or with the open kitchen, the aircon is not sufficient. I think this could improve, but, seeing the full house during lunch, who's complaining? Hahaha.

My second time here! Ordered the shoyu ramen once again, and my hubby got the tantanmen.

Mendokoro truly delivers in terms of taste! Their ramen is served piping hot, the noodles' doneness are firm perfection and the slice of chasyu pork is char-grilled excellence! I still find their broth quite salty (again, couldn't finish my broth even though I was just drinking water with my meal), but the rich consistency and flavor satisfied all my expectations and more!
