Another entry for 'masarap ang libre'. Lalo na kung expensive. 128522

Place: great ambience, smoky (due to gyoza), contemporary ramen bar.

Service: Pay first at the counter and wait for order # to be called. When coming in group, it is better to get seated separately. Queue is very long especially during lunch hours. Better line up early or after lunch or dinner to get served immediately.

Food: I ordered tantanmen. Creamy and mild spicy. They have chili oil and chili powder on the side if you want that extra kick. Serving is not that large compared to other ramen bar. Not an expert on ramens, pero masarap siya. 🤤

We also had gyoza, light to taste even when dipped into its sauce. Does not have that 'too much garlic' taste to it. 128077

They do not have fork, so think twice if you are not into chopsticks. Sorry but its hard not to overhear the girl next to me asking for it. Feeling close kami, but far enough para hindi 'magkasikuhan'. 128517

Will definitely eat here again, kahit hindi libre. 128514

Best Ramen and Gyoza I've ever had!!!

PLACE:

Place was simple yet I still find it elegant.

FOOD:

Shoyu Tonkotsu Ramen : BEST RAMEN EVER. Broth was exceptional. Char siu melts in your mouth. Noodles are so fine. Its like heaven in every bite. Its definitely heaven in a bowl.

Gyoza : BEST GYOZA EVER. I super loved their gyoza. So juicy and not so oily. I can eat this all day!

SERVICE:

Fast. Friendly and accommodating staff as well.

PRICE:

You should definitely try this. You'll definitely get more than what you've paid for.

VERDICT:

Did I enjoy it? - Absolutely
Will I recommend it? - Definitely!
Will I come back? - Definitely and absolutely yes!!!

Tried them at an odd hour to avoid the long line that we had to endure the last time.

Today though the entire restaurant is like a furnace inside because their AC is busted. Apparently for a few days now according to the cashier. Considering how much traffic they get I would have imagined that this would have been dealt with with a ton of urgency.

Anyway, on to the food. Got the Super Chasu and Gyoza tonight. I'm hoping for a more positive experience compared to the last time I was here (and waited for almost 90 minutes) which influenced my review.

The Super Chasu was great. The Pork piece is cooked well and seasoned perfectly. This makes it so worth it, considering that it's just a tad bit more compared to the regular fare. I'm still not a fan of the broth that reminds me of a certain brand of mushroom soup though.

The Gyoza is up there amongst the greats. Not the best in my opinion but a close second or third. The trick is the way they cook it with the custom grill that really does it's job. I can eat tons of this if I had to. No fat and the herb to meat ratio is definitely on point.

This was a better experience in terms of not having to wait long but I have to admit that I rushed my meal because I couldn't last in the heat. I will definitely try them again, hopefully minus the facility issue, but will have to mark them down for now.

If you're in the Makati area and are craving for good ramen, this is definitely the place to be.

I never really liked ramen 128584 until THE DAY I TRIED MENDOKORO RAMENBA!!

I one day decided to push aside my semi-baseless prejudice and asked Roy T for his recommendation on a really good ramen place. This is the place he recommended.

We went on a Saturday at around 5:30 PM and a little line had already formed ahead of us. It got longer as the evening wore on, so I suggest maybe coming early. You pick what you want, pay, wait for your number to be called, be seated on one of the chairs at the bar and then give the order slip to the staff.

Got the shoyu ramen (P410) and their 3 piece gyoza (P120). Orders arrived after like 10 minutes. Grabbed a spoon and just about blacked out after that 128514128514 Was transported to ramen heaven! The broth was rich, creamy and very flavorful, noodles were firm, pork was thick and tender and legit all the elements combined to form a darn delicious bowl of ramen. The best bowl I've had and probably will have for a while. 10084️ P.S. gyoza was good, too!!

Woohoo! Finally, tried the best ramen house in Makati called Mendokoro Ramenba situated in Salcedo, Makati. But before that, I listened to my co-Team Kaladkarin Marc on what time should I go 'coz the place is always full during peak hours. He said that I should go between 2-4PM on weekdays. Bingo! I was seated when I entered the place. And another friend told me that there's an off-the-menu ramen called Super Chashu which I got for Php530.00 and additional egg for Php90.00. After I pay at the counter, my ramen arrived in 10 minutes. When I first saw my ramen topped with Chashu almost a size of the bowl... I only said WOW and had my first sip... then it was gone after 20 minutes 128514 Busog!

Back here again after quite a while, it seems their store hours have now extend till midnight and even at 10pm were still at 9th waiting. 128529 well even at 11pm it still has crazy bee line.

Went for their secret item called super chashu ramen, it has the same broth of their shoyu with a very big chashu, its like a slab of pork but im not sure which part as it seems to be different part from their ordianary chashu. A little bit salty and msg tonight but its still tolerable.

Gyoza here was superb as usual, juicy indeed.

It seems like their soup are pre cook and reheated per order, chashu was abot burnt and im sure it can be quite improved.

I dont think ill ever order tsukemen from this place ever. As weve seen how it was prepared at our end 128529 but their shoyu was alright.

I praise this place so much 128588🏼 If only it wasn't so expensive and if they had a branch near me.

We went on a Tuesday night of craving at around 930pm. Even on a weekday at a late time we still had to wait around to 20mins? But it's worth it! 💯

So the drill is to place your order at the cashier, get a guest number with your receipt, wait to be seated and hand over guest number. Their menu had a few choices, just the classic ones. Buuut they had off the menu items too, like the Super Chashu. 128069

Gyoza 3pc for 120 pesos wasn't bad. They cook everything in front of you so I was amused. 128064

Took 3 min steam it straight from the freezer maybe to thaw it out a bit then they drain the water and sear for a crisp outer layer they closed the gyoza machine for 2mins, it's like pan searing both sides.

I had the Miso Ramen: Broth was thick and I tasted peanut butter at once so there was a slight sweetness to it, it had toge and chili paste too. I didn't need to mix the whole bowl around to look for meat which I usually do because there was both ground pork and cubed chasu. Tasted some ginger too at some point but it wasn't strong. The consistency was somewhat like Kare-kare, it was very flavorful but I think the soup is not meant to be drank. Happy with what I had. 128522

Super Chashu-off the menu
The brjoth was just right, bit milky and not as flavorful as the miso but reason for that is for the char siu flavor to stand out. It was perfectly seasoned and tender to the bite, it had char grill marks but no burnt taste which was actually nice. 128076🏼

Price may be a bit stiff for the serving size but that bowl was delicious. I'll keep coming back until I taste everything in the menu, which might take a while though. 128515

Had to come back again before I left lol.... brought a couple friends along with me too! Anyway this time I tried out the garlic ramen suggested by Ruth S (thank you!) Boy oh boy this place does not disappoint. The broth was nice and rich and it had a perfect balance of garlic flavor in it. I'll say this again their chashu is the best 128076🏼 lol so if you haven't tried out mendokoro definitely give it a try soon! The only "bad" thing I have to say about this place is that it's hot inside the restaurant but still not enough for me to knock off a star 128517

My boyfriend has been raving about how Mendokoro’s ramen was so delicious and filling. So when he decided that we’ll be having dinner here, I didn’t oppose :) We got there around 6pm and there was a long line already. We got in after an hour of waiting. If you’re planning to dine in Mendokoro, just brace yourself for the long line.

I ordered Shoyu Ramen and shared a serving of Gyoza with him. The ramen was amazing! I think that noodles were cooked just right and the broth was really really flavorful. The chashu was also different from other ramen places; it was thick and had less fat in it. The gyoza was also good - warm, soft and tasteful even without dipping it on the sauce.

Met up with an old friend for dinner here because she hasn't tried it yet. Despite both of us working in Makati, we haven't seen each other in a year. 128517

She was recommended the Tantanmen because she wanted something spicy. I didn't recommend the Super Chashu to her because she doesn't eat that much. But her fiancé got that 9996🏻

After reading one review and seeing the photo of the Miso Tonkotsu Ramen, I decided to go with that since I wanted something new. The broth was thick and flavorful as always, but I'm not sure I like it very much. It had two types of pork - ground pork and cubed chashu. I prefer this cubed chashu over their regular chashu. It's almost as flavorful as the Super Chashu. 128077🏼

We visited on a Friday night and it was no surprise that the line was quite long. But since I had a heavy lunch, the wait was enough to get me hungry. 9996🏼

So I was on the hunt for the best ramen in the Philippines and this place definitely takes the cake! I wanted to try the miso ramen but it wasn't available 128557 so instead I tried the tantanmen ramen with some chasu slices. The tantanmen ramen has a thick and heavy broth tasting a lot like a Thai curry soup although I know it's supposed to be Chinese inspired. But let me talk about the chasu! Man oh man the chasu slices they serve here are THE BEST! The pork literally just melts in your mouth and it just goes so well with the ramen. Unfortunately I haven't been to Japan to compare but I can rate this based on all the different ramen houses I have tried in California and Mendokoro definitely competes with some of my favorites back home. Last, the set up of this restaurant is simple but very elegant. I really liked the minimalistic yet modern look they gave the restaurant and it's nice to be sitting around the chefs in action. This place can definitely hit the wallet hard but it's worth every single piso 128076🏼

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!! Totoo ang chismis. Masarap nga dito at worth it ang paghintay! Nakakaiyak yung init sa labas (pati sa loob mismo) pero nakakaiyak rin sa sarap yung ramen nila!! 128557128557

We had to wait for more than an hour, more than 100 orders before us.. but all worth it!!! 128076🏼

We ordered the following -- Shoyu. Super Chashu. Garlic Ramen. Gyoza. 🤗

Our ultimate favorite ramen is Ramen Yushoken's Super Chashu because how can you not like that super flavorful ramen and that super thick tender and yummy pork chashu?? You just can't.

But that was before... not until we tried Mendokoro's GARLIC RAMEN. Oh my gahd! It was so good. It's really tasty, flavorful and overflowing with so much awesomeness. Loved the garlic flavor!! Also, it's not as salty unlike super chashu. It's really good, omg! No words! Haha! 🤤128155

PS: don't worry Ramen Yushoken, you're still our 2nd fave! 128518

PPS: 4 stars only because it was too hot inside, as well. And we asked for warm water but dedma lang sila. ☹️

If there is one thing that can get me out of a long hiatus from reviewing, it's Ramen. Much more if it's a New Secret Menu Item! A little birdie whispered to me there was such and was highly recommended by Elbert. 128561

But...

It pains me to make another review of Mendokoro since I don't want to add fuel to the fire so intense that craving for a bowl of their ramen will take you at least an hour of wait even past 9pm 128557. It has come to the point that whenever I had a craving (which was everyday 128514) the place is jam packed with people waiting sitting at the sidewalk. I just had to go somewhere else for my Ramen Fix. Somewhere secret that I won't tell anymore 🤐

But wait there's more!

There is still hope in Mendokoro.. I call it the Magic Hour. Come in at this time and you will find a quiet Mendokoro to enjoy your bowl of heaven. 128513

But then again when I arrived it turned out that the secret-off-the-menu item was in the Menu all along. I didn't bother to try it all these years, hell, I didn't even bat an eye. 128514 but now I have a reason to. 128522

127836 Hiyashi TanTanMen 127836
or Cold TanTanMen with Grilled Tofu 128525
I was glad this got suggested to me. On a hot afternoon after a long drive through traffic, the cold tantanmen soup hits the spot! Not even a slight hesitation to slurp the noodles as well because it gives a cooling soothing feeling. Looking out the window while doing so is like lifting your middle finger to the harsh climate outside 9996128514.

The grilled tofu was a revelation! Sooo good! It has a smooth chewy texture to it like spam but less the salt. I would prefer this over chashu on my usual bowl of Garlic Ramen from time to time to even out the saltiness if they would allow it. (I forgot to ask the staff if they would). 🤔

Despite a very hectic schedule, we decided to bond over food and have chosen to dine at Mendokoro Ramen. I tried Shoyu Ramen while my friends had Super Chasiu and Tantanmien. The broth is one of the lightest milky broth that I have tried. I am glad that this one does not have that heavy pork taste. The Chasiu was also quite a surprise - it melts in your mouth.

Still the standard by which I measure all ramen - this and Ippudo.

My sortof cousin/former housemate Sarah A messaged me out of the blue, said she was curious and wanted to try. I agreed right away, even if we passed on UDD that night 128557. I haven't gone here in a while and I'm just waiting for a good excuse.

Marc M had warned me of the longer lines, but I only believed him when I saw it for myself that night. It was already past 9 and there were a few people ahead of us in line. The bar was packed! But the turnover was pretty quick - I think we only waited for half an hour before we were seated.

I ordered my usual Shoyu and Sarah ordered Tantanmen, plus an order of Tamago each, gyoza and extra chashu. Maybe if I had only the ramen and egg, I might have gotten to finish them all off. But I had forgotten how rich the chashu was, and it was probably one of the reasons I subconsciously try to space out my visits here. That thing is lethal! But on the other hand, it brings so much happiness 128517

So, be warned. Chashu is great if shared, and if you have only a few other orders besides. And, don't bother with the extra chashu if you ordered a Super Chashu bowl (secret menu item) in the first place. Since Mendokoro doesn't do take out, it'll be a shame if you didn't eat it all.

The best ramen I've had so far!
They say that people usually line up for a couple of minutes before they get served but I think I was lucky enough because there were vacant seats available when my friend and I went there. The place is just small that it could only occupy less than 30 customers at a time.
I ordered Shoyu. The richness and thickness of the soup is just right and not "nakakaumay." The chashu was thick and I must say I got surprised when I took a bite because it literally melted in my mouth! The serving was just right, not too big for me. My friend ordered Tantanmen (sorry I don't have a picture) and I think I like it better! So I think I'll come back for it. Not too spicy, just right for my taste buds.

I consider their shoyu ramen as the type of comfort food that you eat right after a struggling week or a draining day. It will surely turn your mood. Im not a ramen person but this is the most delicious ramen that I've tried so far. However, the taste can be overwhelming because of the creaminess as well as the chashu that melts on your mouth. Overall, I will still give it a perfect score because Mendokoro deserves it. I recommend going here at around 9:30pm onwards if you want to avoid lining up.

Beyond the 23-limited seat capacity and almost an hour of waiting, their Shoyu Ramen was still worth all the #Hangry moments while in line.

How I wish they'd expand already!128591🏻128553 (St. Jude Thaddeus pray for us)

Funny because it's not the first time I waited in line and didn't encounter a couple or a family having their #Hangry moments 128548128545, barely giving up before dining. I think the "nabayaran na" factor is a big motivator to wait tho 128533 LOL.

I've never been to Japan but my mom said even the best Ramen establishments there would not make customers wait for an hour or more.

But still...I love their Ramen 10084127836
